Former Pig Boogie Fland is a Gator.

Golden filling holes.  Good get.

this was expected. the ncaa had some ruling on this very subject back in april, and ziegler was the most well known player who was expected to return for a fifth year if the resolution (?) had passed. when it didn’t, this was always the next move. the lawsuit/decision isn’t about ziegler specifically, the ruling will impact countless players.

It’s called get a job

Are they going to have to launch another investigation?

I wonder if that means y'all are out of the market for Ben Henshall now

Mizzou opening the season on the road at Howard is pretty cool. Love seeing big programs go to HBCUs

Ha, fuck Kansas. All my homies hate Kansas

Yeah, I was just hoping he didn't go there lol

It seems like he had interest in coming back to Tech but he was essentially replaced after declaring for the draft and we don't really have room for anything but another primary ball handler. I would have loved to have him back on the team, but he just wouldn't fit with the team composition as it is. Glad he is not staying in conference.

This will be a fun early season matchup.

AJ Dybantsa is from Brockton, MA (moved away his sophomore year).

Tech and Illinois agreed to a home-and-home series starting at Champaign-Urbana this November and finishing in 2026 at Lubbock. Rankings are rankings, and especially with the transition between teams, you never know these days who's gonna hit and who is a dud from the portal.  Coaching is as important as ever.GPGDCH6E6GOY2XBG3LZEYKQWUM.jpg?auth=321cAP25073842080027.jpg?w=2000&ssl=1

We got rule changes! @Pancho

https://ftw.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2025/06/10/ncaa-rule-changes-mens-college-basketball-replay-challenges/84137118007/

New for 2025, officials will no longer be able to go to the monitor to review out of bounds calls in the final two minutes. Such reviews can only be initiated by a coach's challenge, which is also new for next season and can occur at any point in the game.

Under the coach's challenge rule, teams must have a timeout to request an instant replay review challenge.

If the instant replay review challenge is successful, teams will be allowed to have one additional video review challenge for the rest of the game, including overtime.

If the first video review challenge is unsuccessful, the team loses the ability to challenge the rest of the game.

Officials can initiate video reviews on basket interference/goaltending and restricted arc plays in the last two minutes of the game and into overtime. Recent data shows these reviews caused minimal game interruptions. NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee members think the coach's challenge will have a significant impact on the flow of the game. Officials cannot conduct video review on out-of-bounds calls unless through a coach's challenge.

Officials will still be able to initiate reviews for "timing mistakes, scoring errors, shot clock violations, 2-point versus 3-point field goal attempts, flagrant fouls, etc." But leaving out-of-bounds calls up to a challenge system will almost certainly limit the lengthy delays.

Can't wait for some corch to pull a Chris Webber late in the game.

Is it a T if they request the review without any TO's remaining?

If they didn’t change the rule to allow more electronic use in the huddle/bench area, then the smart coaches will have some student coordinator behind the bench or close to it with good cell phone coverage.

Also from what I’ve read and heard, Men’s is getting closer to going to 4 quarters. Understandably, their tv deal is larger than women’s so it’s a little more complex for them.

I did see something about quarters when it scrolled across ESPN.  Good news if they're getting closer

asking, not arguing, with the built in TV TO's at the 4 minute intervals, what difference would quarters vs halves make?

Men have TV timeouts at the under-16, 12, 8 and 4 each half. That’s 8 per game /4 per half

Women only have 3 per “half” - under 5 TO in each quarter and in between quarters 1/2 and 3/4

What is the appeal of going back to quarters?  I like the flow of the 2 halves.

It's not like football where you get the wind or whatever.  Maybe the student section matters, but you're playing at both ends naturally for the game in hoops.

The appeal is that it is the only level where it is not quarters - nearly all high schools play quarters, FIBA, NBA, etc.

Ehh, the “flow” of 2 halves is subjective. Personally when I reffed 2 halves, it was long as fuck and kept constantly getting interrupted. 4 min of play, then stoppage for 16u timeout. 4 min of play then another stoppage because you’re at 12 min. Then stop again at 8 then stop again at 4 then 2 more times after that because coaches have to use their “use it or lose it” timeouts. That was annoying as fuck. There was no flow at all—to me.

In quarters, you’re stopping once a quarter unless someone calls a timeout. And then if they do call a timeout and we haven’t reached the 5 minute mark, that counts as the timeout for the quarter so you can just keep playing.

Fans also like the pace of plays, especially at the end of each quarter.

Also, there’s just not logical reason or benefit to have 2 halves when ever other level of basketball around the world uses quarters.

Also a team not being in the bonus for 10-15 minutes is nice.  Since team fouls reset after each quarter.  That's probably the biggest plus for me, personally.

A team getting in the bonus at 14 minutes was the worst. I mean, the absolute worst.

While we are at it, why isn't the college game 48min? College football mimics the NFL with four 15min quarters. College baseball is 9 innings like the MLB.

Pretty cool of them if they do play Army in WP.

It'll probably be Coach K day or something, which is fine, but also not some random home-and-home with Fordham or whomever.

What does Coach K have to do with WP? Also, Duke playing in Rose Hill would be cool.

Well he went to school there, played for them under Bob Knight, and was their head coach for 5 years.

Okay yeah, but other than that?
