zubimendi to gyorkeres reminded me of ozil/cazorla to giroud, and that’s exactly what we’ve been lacking: the ability to score goals against a low block. no more passing it around the horn in a u-shape. nigh is the day of attacking much more directly with madueke, zubimendi, and gyorkores added to the squad.

YESSSSSSSS!   Fuck you Newcastle and that piece of shit Liverpool ref

Football moves fast. Zinny arrived a multiple-time PL champion and unquestionably elevated our level of play in 22-23. Electric in the inverted LB role and a big part of us taking 50 points before that WC break. Other teams figured out how to play against us, though, and exploit his proclivity to drift into attacking areas and his limitations as a defender. Then he has some injuries in 23-24, Kiwior fills in well for him as we finish 16-1-1, and then last season MLS explodes on the scene.

He’s still only 28 and Ukraine captain.  If he wants to move on for regular first-XI football, especially ahead of a World Cup, I would not blame him at all and would wish nothing him but the best.

nah deadass, this will absolutely be applied to us in ways that apply to nobody else, even though it’s Big Gabi who actually gets wrestled and grabbed more than anyone else on the pitch.

We all know exactly how this will go:

Ben White farts in the general direction of an opposing player on an Arsenal set piece? Goal disallowed, red card, Howard Webb praises Michael Oliver afterward.

Gabi XL heads clear? Penalty, DGSO, red card, Howard Webb praises [the fuckstick who sent Rice off v Wolves, don’t remember his name] afterward.

Joelinton or Bruno tackle two Arsenal players to allow a gap for a set piece goal? Nah mate. Just a try-hard lad trying hard. Nothing to see here.

Because that is EXACTLY how this will go.

well thanks to tony adams running his old, fat mouth we apparently had to have arteta address this, and as no surprise to anyone who knows anything about this club and this player, martin odegaard is out captain, and for good reason.

Arsenal have not looked great so far, aside from the one corner.  Sloppy

Either ManU are miles better than last year or Arsenal have a long way to go to be considered title contenders.

Pretty? Not always. Three points? Yes.

2-1 fouls didn’t help.   Can’t think of any fouls called on Arsenal that I disagreed with, but there were 4 or 5 non calls that were bs, one took us out of what would have been a dangerous set piece and almost lead to a manu goal the other direction.

yeah it wasn’t the fouls that we committed, it was the overly physical fouls by man u that were never called, starting with the forearm to zubimendi’s neck and face at the very beginning of the game. saka in particular was grabbed and thrashed around with no calls. shit was very frustrating to watch.

also, i’m not as upset with the performance as most people are. we get a clean sheet and three points on the road at old tractors while breaking in some new players in a match where odegaard really wasn’t at his best. the team is definitely going to require some time to jell with gyorkores up top and the way that he likes to play.

that said, we looked to get out on the counter much more today than we traditionally have under arteta, and i loved seeing that, i think it’s a great sign of us being a more ruthless team this season than in years past. we have a tough early schedule, but i liked what i saw today, flaws and all. we’re going to jell and get better, and once we do, i think we’ll see a more dangerous team than the one that just passed the ball around the horn all year last season.

this is truly incredible considering that the first decade+ of my time as an arsenal supporter was the exact opposite of this:

On the road this morning so had to listen on the radio. I’ll take the three but over the BBC it sounded like 90+ minutes of ManU assault.

As far as wins go, this the ultimate “fuck off” win: nick a goal against the run of play and the grind out a (probably undeserved on balance of the totality of the match) result. Given that wins at Old Trafford have been hard to come by for Arsenal (just our fourth since 2000)…Three points and thank you very much and fuck off manure.

That said.. The narrative would be different had this exact match been played in April. But it wasn’t, and we’d all hope to see more fluidity and cohesion at the start of a season. The defending and goalkeeping were stellar, the attack was disjointed, the midfield largely anonymous. Arteta and the lads have two weeks to figure something out, because this performance gets us shredded at Anfield.

i’d like to see madueke get more run, as i don’t feel that we have any threat whatsoever from the left side. i’d also like to see nwaneri get more chances as long as odegaard continues to struggle.

Awesome, we have admitted Liverpool fan Jarred Gillett reffing our match vs Leeds, a week before we play Liverpool.   Last time he was apart of an. Arsenal match ahead of playing Pool, he sent off Saliba.   Why would they do this, so fucking stupid.

looks like we’ve signed our new left winger and it’s…our current backup left winger.

This would explain why the team looked so off vs ManU, wonder if Rice had it as well.

Seems like he made the right call

Not everything is a conspiracy.

Anytime Arsenal fans mention officiating (on the thread for Arsenal fans, nonetheless), it doesn't mean we think it's a conspiracy.    I never said it was a "conspiracy."

Piss off with that nonsense in this thread.

Hey I hear you. I think you got some shitty calls against you last season. I just don’t think that one you were referring to was one of those times. But I over stepped my bounds on your thread.

And it’s starting already…

Maybe related to the fact that he absolutely ran himself into the ground the past two seasons since there were so few attacking options? Kai looked absolutely spent the last matches he played before his hammy exploded.

Must be bad (the whole season or large chuck) if they’re looking to add before the window closes.

Ahem . . .

You know, he touches the ball so meekly with his foot I didn't even realize that was what was being referred to as "kicking the ball away" until today.
