We are looking for a group of five and  temp bleachers would be a grand. Nuts.

And then half the fucking seats behind home will be empty.

The game yesterday was at 1pm on a Friday afternoon.

Parking was totally fucked up due to UIL softball tourney and there was backup into the parking garage of an hr and half. Fans were still trickling in up til the 2nd/3rd inning.

Even with the overpriced tickets (fucking BS ticket brokers) the game today is prime time on a Saturday night and the Disch will be full.

This a bitch response.

As for the slide, he started inside the bag when the defender was inside the bag. At one point he rolled on his hip and to finish his foot was so high it’s never going to touch the base thus allowing more time for a tag. I cannot imagine many defenders being pleased with the lead foot being roughly 12-18 inches high when it arrives at the base.  And I can’t imagine a coach believing that slide was good.  Yes, it was a wild throw but that’s not uncommon.  It’s not uncommon for the fielder to try and catch it either.

As for my question being legitimate, yes it is.  So, first, not all MLB players wear metal.  And sorry for not being a field turf expert but no other sports to my knowledge wear metal spikes on the stuff.  Obviously, there is significantly more contact in those other sports, but there’s also tons more movement.  Now the below is not the same situation but it does highlight a health consideration.

Earlier in Posey’s career, he wore metals.  His switch to MCS stemmed from a devastating leg injury back in 2011 when he snapped his ankle on a play at the plate.  Posey is unique in that he switched BECAUSE of the downgrade in traction he gets from MCS cleats.  By wearing MCS, Posey accepts the decreased acceleration and handle to avoid having his foot “snagged” in the ground, a common reason for significant baseball injuries and partially to blame for Posey’s stomach-churning ankle injury two seasons ago.

Speaking of bitch responses.

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. His front foot was never supposed to hit the bag. He was going over the tag with his lead leg and would come down on top of the bag or catch it with his back leg/butt. He was avoiding the tag because the defender was pulled into his sliding path.

Metal spikes get caught in dirt, that’s why posey switched. Non metal cleats suck for field turf for baseball because they aren’t as responsive. It’s literally described in what you quoted.

Don’t worry. The casuals will tune into the softball game vs OU and that’ll be a shit show

In soccer that would have been a straight red card and the discussion would have been how many additional games he would be suspended beyond the standard One Game suspension you get for a red card.

The goals of a slide are different in baseball ️ vs soccer ️, but that left leg coming up and making solid contact with an opponent would be a straight red. The fact that it was in the area that it was would be the reason for additional games.

And the studs on soccer shoes are relatively smooth and sometimes soft plastic. Baseball spikes are weapons as soon as they leave the dirt.

How is what would happen in soccer relevant in anyway to what happens in baseball?

After watching the slide a few more times, he’s just trying to get around the glove rather than sliding directly into it, so it’s definitely not intentional or dirty.

I’ll have my formal apology submitted by morning.

UTSA going with their #3 starter who is a lefty over their best starter statistically is very interesting. Wonder if Owens could come out of the pen like in the Tuesday night game against us.

I’m well aware of the usage of metal spikes.  Also ran track so I’m aware why those exist.  I did give up baseball in high school.  I’m old enough that we didn’t play on turf so I cannot speak to that. Also old enough that I wore jeans in little league so have a make it work mentality.

They are a safety issue.  Dipshits once upon a time used them as a weapon.  That’s been addressed.  It still is a safety issue to a lesser degree.  Obviously not deemed enough of one to change anything. That’s fine.

The fact that anyone here thinks that there was anything nefarious going on during Jonah’s slide just proves that we have plenty of know nothing dip shits on this board too.  Football lite.

You missed the 2 pages during the Florida series rain delay dedicated to the Galvan shuffle. Got a thorough discussion on how it makes him worse at the plate just for him to homer in his first AB after the delay. Good times

I think that convo has a little more merit than a discussion about the safety of spikes in baseball

Dammit why they gotta do smart shit like that?

I get the feeling it will be an all hands on deck/kitchen sink game for UTSA tonight. I would be surprised if they don’t use Owens if they have a lead into the 6th or 7th.

That was a terrible slide.  The truth is had he been kicked out it was earned, intentional or not.

Why exactly do we need spikes?

Maybe the fielder shouldn’t stick his neck into Jonah’s cleats?  Seriously, keep your face out of the ground and it won’t get hit with cleats.

I tried to run over a road runner on bee creek rd today. Just kidding I don’t target birds. I’m almost 50 I now have a keen interest in the well being of our avian friends and am considering joining the bird thread here and adding a bird feeder to our property. Such is the progression of life. I now love birds. Fuck dem road runners tonight tho.

Anyone happen to have a spare ticket they don’t mind giving to a student?  My son just got out of work early.
