Losing a regional is not outperforming shit at Texas. So sick of this loser shit. The expectation is playing in Omaha. Period.

Calm down badass. Augie didn't even make the tournament his first two years in Austin.

Yes, turn around is quicker in modern days, but EXPECTING Omaha in year 1 is ridiculous for anyone. Year 2 though is a different story.

Through all the frustration and anger, I have to somewhat laugh at the fact that the first two pitchers in our regional final game were Hudson Hamilton and Ethan Walker. Imagine telling someone that b

How are Augie’s first two years relevant to this season. We make Omaha half the time. This team is the #2 national seed. Losing in a regional would be a massive failure by historical and current standards.
And Jesus Christ at people acting like this team is so defunct that we shouldn’t expect to be able to win a regional we host. GTFO. This is Texas, this team had two preseason AAs on it and several big time transfers and freshman.
We poached a coach because of his ability to win, so why would we lower our standards?

Cherrypicking exceptions that prove the rule doesn't make the point you think you're making.  Quite the opposite, actually.

Cherrypicking, really? And pointing out facial hair or “swagger/theatrics” when a guy messes up proves your entire point. Actually, I’m going to give Flores a call and tell him to shave his mustache so he can hit the ball opposite field.

whole lot to be upset at tonight, but this was a big one for me: when UTSA got down 6-1 they continued to play with a chip on their shoulder, and a swagger and a confidence that helped them get back in the game. at the plate they were hacking away, they were taking extra bases, and the dugout stayed upbeat. when Texas got down 8-6 and they panned to our dugout it looked like our whole team was about pack into the van to go put down the family dog. it was shocking. the game was so far from over, yet we looked defeated. for UTSA to come here and out-mentality us was hard to watch.

Great stuff there for sure. Very inspiring of confidence

You asked for someone else to name weekend starters. I did that.

Not sure why you care so much about weekend starters anyway. Just a month ago everyone on here was talking about having a stacked bullpen, not starters.

It sure we be cool if Flores and Gasparino could remember how to hit. Feels like they’ve both been cold for 6 weeks. Flores isn’t good enough defensively to hit fucking .240 … Giving up a run on the 1st and 3rd was embarrassing. Real kick to the nuts to lose that game and use all our best pitchers. We’re gonna need to empty our bullpen to claw our way out of this region now, but we absolutely have the talent to do it. Bring on K-State.

What makes me confident Harrison was getting out of it was the two double play balls he got that our defense fucked up. They weren’t hitting him hard all game so not sure why you think he had reached his limit. We have two pitchers in the team that regular get ground balls. We took out the guy who’d just done it two batters in a row to go to the guy that’s been struggling for the last month or so.

And it was 6-1. Let your starter pitch. They are starters for a reason

This is what I saw too. Some combination of extremely unlucky and just not good enough defensively. I can’t help but put most of this on flores

Winning 3 games in 2 days will be tough. Not sure we have the depth to do that. Last night was a massive choke job. But we started playing bad when we barely beat aggy in 3 games(thank god for great pitching) and then Arkansas and here we are. Would suck major dick to lose our regional as the number 2 national seed even though we haven’t played like our seed in over a month.

Some day Texas will be able to hang with the big dogs in the state like UTSA and Texas State.

I don’t understand how Jaylin and Will become so hapless at bat.  Jaylin batting problems have spilled over to his defense and doesn’t look like same player anymore.   Hope the guys can rebound to earlier season form and win three in a row.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone slump as bad as Flores. He has to be benched. He’s an auto out in every situation.

But he's so great in the field!

Wait.......

Schloss pulled Harrison because he didn’t hit a stanky leg after strikes, imo

See that’s your problem, you take everything as a fucking joke.

This is our lives we’re talking about here!! This isn’t just some game. It’s our fucking life.

UTSA had more "fight" in 'em last night than we did.  If we don't find some quickly, we'll be watching the rest of the tournament on the couch.  Baseballs are cheap, foul off some souvenirs and protect the plate. Belyeu went 1-5, Flores 0-5, Gaspy 0-4, meanwhile Borba went 2-4.  At this point Schloss needs to look at the stats and change the line up.  All hands on deck today because the fight is fixing' to start.  Offense better get their shockers unjammed and breathe out of the correct eye lid.  Give 'em hell today.

Lineup has to change today. At a minimum, the batting order. I’d like to see Jaylin or Will take the day off.

Win win situation here fellas, either it’s the beginning of a magical two days of baseball headed to a super regional with eyes wide open, focusness, clear eyes full hearts can’t loose or it’s an early start to marriage repair season. Either way we win.

I can see Gasparino sitting in favor of Farmer, but I don’t think Jalin has missed a single inning at SS this entire year.  Even during the Tuesday blowouts.

Winfield sucking, no progression from Gasparino along with the major regression from Jalin is what doomed us this year.  Everyone else (Borba, Scheuss, Galvan & farmer) showed improvement from last year.  Basically lost a year with Beyleu getting injured and coming back “lost” at the plate.

I played poker with the KSU first baseman at Texas Card House for a couple of hours tonight. He was still there when I left at midnight, lulz. He fucked up his wrist today and was in a splint, so he wasnt sure if he'd be able to play tomorrow. I asked if they had curfew and he said, "yeah .....11PM but nobody checks". I offered to buy him 10 shots but he declined. I guess the guy doesn't like shots.

So you're saying he'll play and have more hits than Jalin and Assparino combined :(

You have a severe comprehension problem, which is now evidenced by your reductionist fallacy.  At no point have I drawn a direct link between facial hair and performance.  I have drawn a link between mindset/focus/discipline and performance and suggested that a good way to correct the mindset/focus/discipline issue is to cut out all the extra bullshit.

The theatrics are stupid for several reasons.  It's another indicator of mindset/focus/discipline/priorities being in the wrong place, and it also makes you look dumb as shit when the guy locks you up so bad you don't even take the bat off your shoulder.

I could draw comparisons to other contexts, but I doubt you've ever been more than a standard deviation away from the mean in anything, so you wouldn't know the difference anyway.  In fairness, I could be wrong on that but I highly doubt it.

Either way, I'm not trying to convince you of anything.  I don't care if you agree or disagree.  You and your opinion can go that way and me/mine will go this way.

Because it's easier to cope with the result that way.

He missed a few last night.

UTSA will give up a lot of runs the rest of the way. If we can somehow get a lengthy pitching performance in game 3, I like our chances.

Re-focus your club, Schloss.

Where are we with Volantis (35 pitches) and Grubbs (21 pitches)?  What can they do today?

Grubbs maybe tonight and volantis tomorrow?

I bet DV can squeeze in an inning today if we're tied in the 7th or 8th, something like that.  Obviously, the strong preference is for him to sit and go tomorrow.  But if tomorrow is at all in question, I'm sure he'll tell Schloss he's ready.

We have only pitched one of our weekend starters. We have some arms.

You realize we regularly play four games a week and we have only played two.

I think our bullpen is capable of going for more than two games. Goddamn you people.

Name them. We only have two weekend starters.
Harrison and Volantis are burned. Burns and Grubbs will be on back to backs. That leaves us with guys like Bing, Flores, Saunier, Duplantier.
We regularly play 4 games over the span of 6 days. This is going to be 4 games in 3 days if we win tomorrow and then a 5th on day 4.

@Texas Fight we are clearly talking about all available pitchers not just starters. Reading is fundamental

I’d say Volantis is a no today but when shits on the like you ever know.

Bench Jalin, move A Rod to short, Mendoza to 2nd, and Farmer/Jonah in left and DH the other one. I think Will’s defense is enough to keep him in the game. Jalin is a complete liability in all facets.

I wish there was a better option because ARod was a huge part of the problem defensively. He only got hit with the one error I think but there were 2-3 plays in the 5th alone that he sucked

According to Hobbes, Volantis can’t pitch until the second Omaha weekend because he threw over 30 pitches last night.

I say stick with what we have. It’s time we played pissed off and with our backs against the wall. We haven’t had to prove much in a month. It’s time now.
