Looking through some final stats, I don't think enough appreciation is being given to the fact that Adrian Rodriguez played the second half of the season with basically one hand and only batting left-

Played catcher, outfield, and infield in the Trinity League under head coach Eric Borba.

As soon as I saw OLu I wondered that. I’m sure Borba ending the season on such a high note can’t hurt their reviews of the program

1/3 of his hits as homers and 50 Ks feels very Gasparino-y. Homers vs USC and UCI midweek and a few vs UCSB. Can’t teach 20 homer power as a freshman, but that K rate in the WCC is a bit scary.

I think you can deal with a little worse fielder as long as the fielder isn't as shitty at the bat as Flores was batting .176 in conference and low .200s overall

Did I read right that he hit .350 last year?

if so wtf?

Is Flores the most overrated player in recent UT baseball history? He’s slow, chokes, and looked like an idiot at the plate for what feels like the entire second half of the season. Please go pro.

You're gonna have to suggest a couple of other professions.

Say whatever you want about the end of his career here at the plate, but he is certainly not a choker. 2 post season grand slams. Grand slam in the 9th this year to not get swept by T state. Huge late homer and another rbi in the Saturday game vs LSU that won us that series. At least 5 walk offs/go ahead homers last year

We clearly need to upgrade there, but the shit talking is going overboard on him

I think I confused the new revenue sharing rule of 34 baseball scholarships for this. Now seeing the 25 we are going to allot which is up from 11.7.

I’m confused why it’s 25 bc CDC wrote this in his weekly recap:

Quote

Additionally, the settlement will permit us to provide more scholarship opportunities for student-athletes. WE WILL FULLY FUND SCHOLARSHIPS UP TO THE ROSTER LIMIT ACROSS OUR 21 SPORTS.

Isn’t the new roster limit 34?

Correct.  It doesn’t seem to jibe.  Schools can fund up to that but it is up to the individual schools as whether they fully fund.  Could UT fund 25 scholarships and allocate NIL for 9?

Probably for the same reason football will stay at 85 even though the new limit is 105(?). more money for the roster from the rev share allotment

So Schloss wants 25 then, even if CDC is willing to fund 34?

I have a feeling CDC wasn't clear on that statement.  I don't know if the full scholarship number is 25 or 34, but I'm pretty sure he and Schloss are on the same page.  It certainly wouldn't shock me to spread 25 scholarships across 34 players, and maybe augment with NIL to fill in the gaps.

That’s why I asked bc it’s confusing to say you’re going to fully fund all scholarships up to the roster limit and then tell us it’s only 25 for baseball when the roster limit is 34. Hopefully we get some clarification on that

Possible to carry a smaller roster? 20 scholarship players as a NIL incentive spread 5 more scholarships as halves across 10 players and 4 walk ons? Maybe use corporate deals for a handful of your big time players.

Somebody actively on Twitter/X, tweet at him and ask for clarification.

Seems like twitter mostly sorts Following by recent again if anyone cares to see who we’re targeting. Not shocking, but LSU and Tenn already have some big fish in the boat

Mississippi State 247 baseball mod with an interesting post on Notre Dame C Carson Tinney, who Mississippi State tried to get involved with:

I have been told that former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney is expected to choose between Florida and Texas.

I can’t imagine going and playing for that mega asshole in Gainesville. Sullivan makes Pierce look downright amiable.

Cross your fingers (or whatever for Tinney).   Hometown Castle Pines, Co (22 miles south of Denver)  6'3, 220 lbs

This isn’t what any Notre Dame baseball fan wanted to see, but after narrowly missing out on the NCAA Tournament, it seems like Tinney wanted to play somewhere where he could make the postseason.

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/college/fighting-irish/baseball/2025/06/02/carson-tinney-transfer-portal-notre-dame-baseball-ncaa/83998811007/

Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney has entered the Transfer Portal and he'll likely be the most coveted prospect in the country. He does have a do-not-contact tag listed.2025: .348, 17 home runs, 53 RBI, 13 doubles, 55 hits and .753 slg%https://t.co/VPfx2HnYhb

Bummer. This was a guy who visited and that we wanted.

TRANSFER: @OleMissBSB secured a commitment from former GCU starting pitcher Grant Richardson, who struck out 70 and walked 30 in 50.2 innings in 2024.Profile; https://t.co/3hiVVD8PsiPortal: https://t.co/ptcTrU3XL6 https://t.co/m6JcA9p8SY

Schloss is taking these transfers to Aba on South 1st, I want to say he was seen with the catcher there last weekend.

NEW COMMIT: @TexasBaseball lands former Butler OF Jack Moroknek, who finished the 2025 campaign with a .372 average, 18 HRs and 57 RBIs. He also had 16 doubles with a 1.145 OPS.Profile: https://t.co/oot7Jo8mszPortal: https://t.co/ptcTrU3pVy https://t.co/0TM6YvaJ72

Massive pick up for @TexasBaseball as the #85 player on The Board @jmoroknek15 has committed. Jack was 97th % or higher in nearly every D1 stat that we measured last year offensively and was the #74 overall hitter regardless of position.

#342

So far -

Wichita State 1B Josh Livingston - .284 average, 15 HRs, 48 RBIs, .403 on-base percentage, .555 slugging percentage.

Butler OF Jack Moroknek - .372 average, 18 HRs, 57 RBIs ,16 doubles with a 1.145 OPS.

Left-handed bats are a top priority. It was a glaring hole once Belyeu went down and our lefty options were a hurt Adrian Rodriguez, Cole Chamberlain, Easton Winfield and Jaquae Stewart.

NEW COMMIT: Former Loyola Marymount star catcher Nate Savoie, I'm told, is headed to @ClemsonBaseball. Savoie is an excellent pickup for #Clemson. He batted .300 w/ 14 doubles, 20 homers and 61 RBIs for the Lions + 1.058 OPS. Profile: https://t.co/TlifVYb2SwPortal:…

Was Easton a portal bust? I will not understand that one.

I think it's fair to say a guy who had 1/3rd of his season hit total against Prairie View A&M was a bust.

Looking under the hood, there were some red flags at ULM that we kind of ignored or just thought would get better. He hit .278 in Sun Belt play in 2024 so it wasn't like he was lighting the world on fire in that league. The defense was also horrific at both ULM (4 errors, .951 fielding%) and here.

I'd be mildly surprised if he is back.
