I think this is an agent play and they are trying to make teams think Texas is more interested to drive up the price.

Anyone try to fill out a lineup card with what we have right now? I don't know enough about the portal adds to do it...

2B Mendoza

CF Robbins

LF Rodriguez (S)

C- Portal (hopefully Tinney)

SS- Portal (hopefully Becker).

RF- Freeman (S)

3B Borba

1B- Livingston (L)

DH- Moroknek/Chamberlain/etc.

I’m assuming Gasparino and Winfield are being recruited over.

Too much can happen between now and February. He also is going to be doing very little baseball the next 7 months and I don’t think he’ll just walk over and immediately start without a ramp up period.

Portal

Wichita State 1B Josh Livingston - .284 BA, 15 HRs, 48 RBIs, .403 on-base percentage, .555 slugging percentage.

Butler OF Jack Moroknek - .372 BA, 18 HRs, 57 RBIs ,16 doubles with a 1.145 OPS.

Georgia State IF/OF Kaleb Freeman - .349 BA, 16 HRs, 46 RBIs, 28 doubles and 15 SBs.

Mississippi State LHP Luke Dotson 1-2 3.09 ERA, 34 Ks, 12 walks in 23.1 IP

Seton Hall OF Aiden Robbins - .438, 33 RBIs, 16 doubles and 5 HR.

Schloss is not going into next season with 3 guys in the lineup who can't hit the ball at all and having a dearth of lefthanded options.  I can see some platooning in the OF and also gives more options for matchups later in games.  it would be huge if we get Tinney and Becker.

then it would be what we all thought.  the only guys worth keeping were Mendoza, Arod, Borba, Jonah and getting a catcher in case Galvan leaves.

If the roster limit is 34 we still need to cut like 10 rostered guys/commits. Reducing roster sizes was such an unnecessary move

Yep. I don’t understand it at all.

OTF saying don’t expect Cunningham on campus because draft

Yeah. Never start penciling people onto the roster until after the draft.

It is kind of hilarious how different the baseball draft is from the football draft. The football draft is a moment of pride, to celebrate the accomplishments of our player development. The baseball draft is where our fondest hopes go to die.

First day of class... or are they even still going to class at this point?

I’m still waiting for the lawsuit of an athlete saying he doesn’t have to go to school and stay eligible to play. It’s gonna happen

do they sign scholarship papers still?  I would guess(and this is only guess) the catch is,  you sign a scholarship contract and also a separate NIL contract.  if the scholarship contract allows the university to kick you off the team for grades, attendance, etc. and the NIL contract says you must be on the team and eligible to play to get paid, there is a safety net.

but certainly someone could sue as you say because in America you can sue anyone for anything.  I think the chance of them winning is pretty damn low though.

Shhhh! They beat us out in a head to head for this guy!

They're also going hog wild in the softball portal after being the #1 overall seed and not making it out of regionals

Sark beats Elko - time to go wild with football 'croots
Texas steals Schloss - time to go wild with baseball portal guys
Texas Softball wins the title - time to go wild with softball portal gals

The tiny dick syndrome is causing them to overspend to chase Texas, as usual

Cant wait for defensive errors to be the difference in our series again. .910 fielder now playing on natural grass and facing harder hit balls

Blake Munroe

- Things are really heating up for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff, as Texas continues to be very active (and very selective) in the portal.

- The Longhorns have hosted at least five players this week alone.

- Those visits continue today, which include 2025 Buster Posey Award Finalist Carson Tinney of Notre Dame. He's one that you want Texas to land. That would be a big time get.

- While I won't get into other names, I can tell you those visitors include both pitchers and catchers.

- There are a handful of players that if Texas decides they want them, they are in. It would be a done deal. With that said, the big question will be IF the Horns decide to move forward.

- The addition of Georgia State's Kaleb Freeman was huge for so many reasons. Freeman is a utility player in every sense of the word and gives the Horns so much flexibility as far as where he can play. One source described him as a "super utility".

- Aiden Robbins was definitely a case of Texas flexing it's muscle, as they beat out both LSU and Texas A&M. The Longhorns consider Robbins to be the best batter in the portal this year. That's a MAJOR win.

- Chris Hacopian committed to Texas A&M yesterday. Despite what Aggie reporters say, Texas did NOT push for him. He's a great hitter, but fielding is a question mark.

- The Texas staff continues to push for both Eric Becker and Henry Ford. Both have visited the Forty Acres and those decisions could come at any time.

- Expect more fireworks soon.

Feels like Becker and Tinney's names have been floating around awhile. Haven't seen any names of any pitching except the Miss St lefty at the time he commited.

We have a lot of arms coming back and likely coming in from HS, but tbh our staff wasn't good enough or deep enough to get it done this year. Gonna have to cut some of them so lets hope we keep the right ones and they develop. A Friday/Saturday starter would take some of the pressure of Volantis and make the whole staff look much deeper

I'm betting Blake knows we are going to land some combination of these three guys. Even if he doesn't, I'm betting Texas does. Maybe not all three, but I'd put the O/U at 1.5.

We have a distant relative who is committed to TEXAS.  If he makes the roster, I'll fess up.  Now, that college baseball is over this is a problem for me.  My wife will start expecting me fix stuff and make something other than martini's for supper.  Now what?!

I mean baseball should have the first category too...and hopefully will again.

Somebody tell me if this is a stupid assumption, but if Winfield was being pushed out, he'd already be in the portal, right? Especially given the portal window is May 30 - July 13.

Not saying he won't portal though - he could generate interest from other schools if he continues this pace in Summer ball and decides he wants to lock in a starting role elsewhere. He simply needs to enter by July 13th. Picking a school can drag on.

I feel this pain - my wife was like “baseball again tonite ,who the horns playing “ I said they play tomorrow I’m watching Sam Houston vs rice. Of course the wtf look and roll of the eyes. I’m bleeding this turnip of a season out hoping coastal pulls it off.

Texas baseball landed Western Kentucky LHP Cal Higgins on Friday, Horns247 has learned. Higgins recorded a 1.87 ERA in 2025, posting a 3-2 record (6 saves) with 52 strikeouts in 43.1 innings of work

Of course the gray hat is mostly hiding behind Higgins in the photo since it seems we've decided we'll never wear them again.
