NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A bill that would ban so-called “chemtrails” in Louisiana advanced out of the state House of Representatives on May 29, despite scientific consensus that aircraft exhaust does not modify weather.

State Rep. Kimberly Landry Coates (R-Ponchatoula) defended SB46 on the House floor, saying she is concerned about aircraft leaving white streaks across the sky, which she claims are creating clouds and affecting weather patterns.

“This bill is to prevent any chemicals above us in the air, specifically to modify the weather,” Coates said.

The Environmental Protection Agency states that the white streaks seen in the sky are known as contrails. They are formed when hot aircraft exhaust meets cold atmospheric conditions, much like visible breath forms on a cold day, officials say.

But Coates and several other lawmakers refer to the lines as “chemtrails,” which she claims are made of nanochemicals that alter weather patterns.

During questioning on the House floor, State Rep. Candace Newell (D-New Orleans) asked about the chemicals Coates believes are involved.

“Other than the nanoparticles of aluminum, what else have you found?” Newell said.

“Barium. There is a few, some with long words that I can’t pronounce,” Coates said.

Coates also claimed the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) sends chemicals into clouds to reflect sunlight and cool the Earth’s surface. However, NOAA says it does not conduct weather modification experiments and has no plans to do so.

Coates further suggested that multiple agencies are involved in what she believes is a chemtrail conspiracy in Louisiana.

“Who is doing this?” asked State Rep. Matthew Willard (D-New Orleans).

“There are multiple people. Multiple groups, contractors,” Coates said.

“Who are the contracts with?” Willard asked.

“I’ve seen the documents with at least nine federal agencies,” Coates said.

FOX 8 reached out to Coates for clarification on her statements, but has not received a response.

One of Coates’ claims is that she regularly sees the so-called chemtrails in the sky.

“(Do you see them) once a week?” asked State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle (D-Baton Rouge).

“At least, yes—from my house all the way to the Capitol. So when you look up in the air, you look, watch for the big white lines across the sky,” Coates said.

“So once a week you see people releasing stuff in the air on the way to the Capitol? So I just need to look up? I probably haven’t been looking up,” Marcelle said.

The bill passed the House by a vote of 58-32.

So what exactly does this bill call for?  Just “no more chem trails?”  If so, let it pass and move on. Fucking idiots.

"Contrails" is a contraction of "condensation trails". They are formed by water vapor in the jet engines' exhaust hitting cold air and condensing around particulate contaminants also in the exhaust. A contrail is literally a long, thin, man-made cloud.

If they want to ban contrails, then they either need to ban exhaust from jet engines, or ban cold air at high altitudes.

If they are going to ban either of those, I hope it isn't until after a few weeks have passed, as I'm flying to NO in a week.

Don’t tempt louisiana. Banning cold atmospheric temps isn’t out of the realm of (stupid) possibility

America is so fucked. Over and over, I think that we are the modern equivalent of killing cats that represent the devil only to allow the rats to bring plague. Just ignorance everywhere.

Those are to be addressed after the legislators of Louisiana pass the bill to expose the flat earth documents.

A more looming threat currently is the Swampness Monster, Chupacabeaux, and Bayou Foot.

No, it's not. Collectively, we're a whole hell of a lot dumber than Dax Shepard who really only wanted to rub one out and be left the hell alone.

Now this is a party platform I can get behind.

Nah, the PNW isn't part of the Confederacy of Loons (i.e. almost everywhere else). We leave the big guy alone. He rarely devours hikers and won't be arsed to chase down cyclists.

You’re letting your big city bias show. Get outside of the big cities and the PNW gives the Deep South a run for the money in crazy. I’ve seen more confederate flags and MAGA shit driving to my in-law’s lake house in Washington than I’ve ever seen on my regular drives between Houston and Austin. There are some seriously backwards rednecks up in that part of the country.

Texas is one special legislative session away from banning chemtrails as well.  Louisiana passed their porn-blocking bill and then a year later we followed suit.

NOAA sucks at cooling the Earth's surface.  They need their funding yanked.

Guess my cousin who just landed himself a job in the Ponchatoula chemtrails factory is fucked.

TN passed a bill banning chemtrails last year. At least once a week someone posts on Nextdoor asking why they are still seeing them. Apparently the folks responsible for the chemtrails aren’t following the law. Wake up, sheeple!

This right fucking here.  And add Idaho in as well. It may as well be Northwestern Pennsyltukcibama.

This really only matters if you jack it to contrails.  Which, by all means, you be you, but I'm not sure its as pressing an issue that previous band for most sulryites.

Did couple of roadtrips from the Bay Area to Oregon border. Couldn't drive through some of those dilapidated small towns fast enough. I only kinda felt safe, no joke traveling around some parts of northern Idaho cause I was with two friends that grew up there.

Louisiana: where they ban imaginary chemical pollution, but also eliminate all regulation of ACTUAL chemical pollution.

We have officially evolved into a new species.  Homo Dumbassmaximus.

lol I'm aware, and you're not wrong - I've literally driven every single mile of state highway in WA and have been to the vast majority of both ID and OR. It's just that in WA the squidbillies are substantially outnumbered, unlike in (checks notes) most other states.

We do call it "Spoklahoma" for a reason, though 😂

Well, let's get a little more clarity around the regional aspects of "rare species". The Bigfoot is commonly "found" in the Appalachian regions of Tennessee, Kentucky and to a larger degree West Virginia. So as not to he exclusionary, they are also "found" in the western parts of the Carolinas and Virginia. However, please note, northern Alabama and Georgia have been known for "sightings" as well.

Edit- Last I "checked" there was no anti-chemtrail legislation in any of those states.

What about Mississippi you might ask....

Well, it's best just to leave them to their own devices and not "probe" too deeply.

I’m thankful (and surprised) this was not in Oklahoma.

Louisiana was one of the first to entertain the 10 Commandments in schools. Texas seems to be following suit. I've said it before. Texas is no better than Oklahoma, Louisiana or any of the dipshit SEC states. We can idiot with the best of them.
