In this thread we talk about players we grew up watching

you know who had an interesting game? Vin Baket.  He could do a lot of things very well.  There weren’t a lot of 4s with his skill set back then

Who in the hell is Vin Baket?

I absolutely adored Dan Majerle and used to pattern my game after him in junior high, much to the chagrin of my teammates. Apparently you need to make a three pointer every once in a while.

I was the only white kid I knew who had a subscription to Slam magazine. When the Spurs won in ‘99, the most anti-Slam team ever, you could feel the disdain in the articles. It did have some pretty cool Timmy photos though.

I for some reason had an authentic Miles jersey in HS. I’m a white dude who grew up in Cleveland. To be fair, this was between the Price/Daugherty and LeBron eras.

Hakeem was my favorite as a kid. I once mailed a letter inviting him to spend Christmas with my family. Years later I realized he probably wasn’t into the whole Christian holiday tradition. Who knew being Muslim was a thing?

That Craig Hodges could shoot.

Nothing personal against Craig but I thought it was bullshit when they let him compete in the 3 point shootout in 1993, when he wasn't even in the league.

Sounds like a certain player who likes to push off people when he dunks…
