This will be a summer unlike any in modern American history. We’ll all bear witness to the same abuses of power against our fellow citizens that we have seen in other places around the world. This still has more resemblance to Mussolini’s Italy in the 20’s than anything else. Thank God the people in charge of this three ring circus are complete morons instead of someone like Idi Amin or Stalin that’d just have everyone liquidated for protesting.

I don't know man, the summer of 2020 was pretty crazy.

I spent that summer protesting and had some interesting things I was able to witness in-person in NYC and DC. The difference is the summer is going to see some violent encounters between cops and those protesting. TFG feels enabled right now to do whatever he wants to people he perceives as the enemy. Again this is looking a lot like Italy a century ago.

That is true. Been awhile since we got some good ole fashion police brutality. As a former resident of Los Angeles, these police and military better bring their A game. LA knows a thing or two about rebelling. Trump is putting these guys' life in danger for no reason. People are going to be taking shots at them randomly at night just because they can. Standing on the corner at 3am in uniform is dangerous.

I don’t disagree with one bit of that. We are going to see lives taken away for no reason. None of this has to be happening, but this is what fascists do. Make a crisis happen where none exists and use brutal force putting down said crisis. It’s disgusting and everyone associated with it needs to be prosecuted when we get to the other side of this.

LA I think is going to be wild. It’s a powder keg waiting to explode. TFG would love nothing more than to have that or NYC be the place he gets to mete out some fascist justice. Being a former LA guy you would have far more insight into what people there will do than I would. I’m just someone that has always loved SoCal. I would prefer just seeing peaceful protests, but that is not how this usually goes with a regime like this one that’s trying to emulate the strongman dictator of 20th century Europe.

I have a million quotes here saying if this was a smart organized group that didn't keep saying the quiet part out loud we would be in the deep shit you're talking about.  It's still very shitty but these are buffoons at the helm.  Also in private meetings this term, especially lately, people on all sides are saying to his face he's great.  Like the Canadian PM...when that happens his stance magically changes.  I have personally chat with a couple CEO's who he met with and they were all coached on what to say when meeting him - and almost all of them got concessions or at least a much easier time after meeting him and blowing smoke up his ass.  He has no real ethos other than ME ME ME.  So if someone likes him or acts like they like him, he's always happy to put out an olive branch.  And it drives those actually trying to dictate any real policy absolutely insane.

Also, very importantly, the type of chaos you're talking about...you know what that does?  It absolutely tanks the stock market.  What does this pussy do every single time the market is going to tank or tanking?  Does he ever stick to any position?  LOL

He backs down every single mother fucking time.  But sure, Russia 2.0 would have the market just humming along.  Right.

I get that Doc, but look around you. Even with all his stupidity and flipping on and off of the tariff light switch, Fascism is taking root at Blitzkrieg speeds. The thing is, it doesn't have to be perfect to be oppressive. Dumb people can absolutely push a country into Authoritarianism. In fact, a lot of the worst in history were exactly that. Regimes with brothers and cousins running depts way above their pay grades.

6-9-25, less than 6 months from Inauguration. We have sent 100's to what is basically a death camp in another country. We are kicking in doors and raiding restaurants. We have military boots walking the streets of our largest metroplex to quiet protesters. We've imprisoned University students for protesting, and threatened to pull funding if the schools didn't "get it under control". We've threatened and pulled University funding unless those same schools didn't pull programs we don't like. We've erased part of our history because DEI, and threatened Corps for retaining any such programs. We've closed a bunch of programs at the federal level, and pulled funding for research. Even the Nazis weren't moving this fast. Right now, the Legislative Branch is silent. The Judicial is compromised at best. We are a Supreme Court ruling or two away from a full out Authoritarian regime. 6 months in. What will it look like in 12 months? 18 months? 42 months? I can tell you one thing for sure. It's not going to get better. How much worse is the question.

Can you explain what the heck you are saying?

Search “Wallace,” “Kennedy,” “Katzenbach” and “Tuscaloosa” and you will know. Washington phoned the script to Wallace and he performed his part, i.e., racist governor.

I like the WSJ’s coverage.  They’re +\-6 hours behind TikTok, meaning their stories are compiled and not so chaotic.  If following things on social media is making you nuts, you might wanna try this.

Their editorials bring a great deal of levity as well.

Yet.  Wait till it gets closer to an election and they need a show to fire up the base.   Houston/Dallas/Sa/Austin, at least one will get made an example of.

They need to remember Texas has 2.5X the civilian registered firearms as California.

Our leadership isn't as weak in Texas. Violent criminals don't get let back out and the police may actually do their jobs in most places and keep it from becoming a riot.

Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas are all fucked though they will have some shit destroyed.

The government gets too much pushback from spying and tracking it's citizens, so the CIA created another "private company" Palantir that can do it without any issues.

DOGE fed it all of the data already,

Financial data, social media, health data, movement tracking, everything goes into the machine. It doesn’t just monitor the population. It predicts behavior, manipulates perception and allows people to pull levers and easily control the herd.

Manufactured instability creates a demand for safety. When society gets destabilized enough, people beg for control. Palantir will be the solution, a predictive, AI-powered patriot act. Skynet but kosher.

This is like the 6th post that I’m agreeing with.  We are mostly on same page.  I’m just saying we are not forgoing elections in 18 mo and trump isn’t winning elections in 2028 at a 70% clip.  Both that and things really suck can be true.
And a real strongman with blood lust goes into those regions of LA you mentioned.  Even before you, I said nobody is rolling into Watts.  It’s just more rhetoric.

This Saturday at the Capitol:

Here are the details again:

When you elect clowns, they don’t become leaders. The country becomes a circus. 🤡

On June 14, Donald Trump will honor himself with a four-mile military parade in our nation’s capitol. Trump’s tacky parade was inspired by dictators he idolizes, and will cost taxpayers nearly $100 million.

Organizer and strategist Daniel Hunter has written that “Humor is important for our psyches — and to take fascists down a notch[…] Humor is key for morale and exposing the vulnerability of the strongman image.” This is where the ridiculous meets the resistance—and where the future is on the line.

June 14 is our chance to reflect the absurdity of the MAGA regime and the clowns who lead it. To meet this moment, Women’s March will host community circuses nationwide—bold, creative actions that mirror the chaos MAGA has sown across the country. Together, we’ll set a national record for the most circuses held in a single day while we simultaneously refuse to celebrate a petty clown who desperately wants to be seen as strong. We won’t stop until we build the country we all deserve.
`
Our grassroots street circuses turn satire into resistance and reclaim the big tent for democracy.

I hear you.  It is why I couched my wish list in the 'probably won't happen without violence' tone.  My opinion is the system itself is rotten to the core at this point.  Perhaps always has been  depending on perspectives.  I am trying not go into head in the sand wake me up when they are at my door despair. But just barely trying if I'm honest.  Personal issues leaving very little time to spend on national issue.

Why?  So Trump can 1) pardon him and then 2) give him a Medal of Freedom?

There are no legal impediments to the Gestapo committing violence at the behest of the Regime.  None.  Zero.  In fact, there are INCENTIVES to do so.

I don’t want to get all Brisket up in here, but that is what it is gonna take. The die has been cast. The only way we’re getting out of this is with the price of blood. I’d rather it come sooner rather than later.
