One step further, the police chief was literally giving a press conference about how the cops are there to help, as that criminal assault by the horse cops happened

Yes.

All of 40 people were detained and set to be deported. And that erupts into protests?

Sketchy. Somebody wants chaos.

You need to read more of your own link and not cherry pick info for an agenda

edit: further in the link it gives more reasons on the protests occurring. Not just about 40 people

My GF is here legally with a valid visa and doesn't participate in stupid political BS that could get her deported. She doesn't work here illegally or overstay her visa.

So no, not worried.

So you can be deported if you take a stance against the current administration?   Seems…..un American

Yep

This really… disturbs me. And I can’t tell what’s on your mind, so I’m not going to assume. But to me, it’s not the same. On one hand, I get the sentiment, and past actions from any party or group in power aren’t pure or will have self-interests to maintain. But to say Republicans and Democrats, especially post-Trump, are all the same… I just can’t.

Telling someone else how they should feel, and then calling them names and making personal attacks when they don’t feel the same way as you think they should. I’ve heard this all before…

That fucking asshole cop tried to kill the dude twice. First, at the 15 second mark, he tries to trample straight over him. The horse clearly did its best to NOT crush the guy. Same cop circles around and tries to get him again at the 30 second mark. Again, dude is probably only alive because the horse was careful not to step directly on the guy. If that cop had his way, the guy would be dead, and that horse would be getting euthanized right now.

My office is by Fig and 7th, took 7th street all the way from Boyle Heights through downtown. If you didn't watch the news you wouldn't know anything happened along that route. Little more FUCK ICE and LA is not safe graffiti but that started showing up pretty hardcore a few weeks ago.

Your childhood?

My childhood? My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.

No. Achooloco has been around for while. You're thinking of Luka, who's also upstream.

It is an accurate description of the situation. Objectively, it is stupid to not be concerned. People in the exact same situation have had their visas cancelled and been deported. Chances are pretty good it'll happen to her as well.

Why not? Where are you going to spend your time in LA? Anyone coming to visit for fun shouldn't really go sightseeing off the 101 by City Hall anyway so you wouldn't notice or see anything

There were other reasons to cancel but I had a friend go through there yesterday and said it was a nightmare.

I moved it to two weeks from now. It's not that big of a deal I just don't wanna deal with it.

Well, let’s be fair. It’s a possibility for it to happen to her. How probable? That’s the rub these days, unfortunately… and it would appear he isn’t without resources, so who knows how far along they are already with the process.

#184

All good I was just wondering. You wouldn’t notice much of anything really. The 101 shutdown yesterday sucked but honestly the protests about a month ago were way larger and much more disruptive to transportation due to amount of people on the streets but were very peaceful. I take the bus sometimes when I’m not in a rush because parking sucks and those few days were hell moving around downtown.

700 US Marines to be deployed to LA

https://abcnews.go.com/US/live-updates/la-immigration-protests-live-updates-trump-deploys-2000/?id=122621279&entryId=122667907

Seven-hundred Marines in California have been ordered to assist in Los Angeles and they’re expected to arrive over the next 24 hours, a U.S. official confirmed.

The Marines are from the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines at Twentynine Palms, California, whom U.S. Northern Command had said Sunday were on a "prepared to deploy status" if the Defense Department needed them.

Minutes before the Marines' deployment was confirmed, President Donald Trump was asked by ABC News if he planned on sending Marines to LA, and he said, "We’ll see what happens."

"I mean, I think we have it very well under control," Trump said. "I think it would have been a very bad situation. It was heading in the wrong direction. It's now heading in the right direction." -ABC News' Luis Martinez and Karen Travers

The president has also issued statements on Truth Social saying that he will not tolerate disrespect of National Guard troops (they're in the linked ABC reporting) - while he's ordering them to sleep on the floor because they didn't secure accomodations for the soldiers before deploying them

The President has also called for the arrest of Governor Newsome and said it would be a "great thing". While deploying 2000 Army and 700 Marine servicemembers into the state without the consent of the governor.
