And NYC.  And San Fran.  And Austin.  Etc.

It's almost like they hate the group that they want to belong to, but are so odious, they get shunned. So they hang on the fringes like a bunch of dorky losers, hoping for that invite one day.

They hate us cause they wanna be us.

A common thread throughout time itself.

100000000000000000 X THIS.

Every single person freaking out about someone flying a mexican or salvadoran flag 1) has no problem when the Irish and Italians fly them on AMERICAN STREETS! on St. Patrick's day or Columbus day, and 2) they REALLY don't have a problem with the fact that millions of Trump supporters, including people who actually assaulted and trashed the Capitol and had a STATED GOAL of murdering members of Congress, flew the battle flag of a bunch of traitors who caused a war that killed more Americans than any other war.  And their God-King pardoned every.  single.  one of them.

Fuck.  You.  Seriously, if you stand in ANY WAY with the movement shown in that picture above -- and if you support this Regime, that's exactly who you stand with -- fuck you right in your treasonous ass.

And they supposedly love "their" country.

The dipshit Texan's aversion to Los Angeles and California in general always makes me chuckle.

You know what’s funny?  Californians generally have no opinion on Texas.  Pretty neutral other than “heard cost of living is great.  Austin is liberal and Houston has great Vietnamese food”.  No hate at all.

You're right, but it wasn't always like that. What used to be a confident, polite, "mind you own business" ethos turned into a hysterical and beta bitch form of conservatism and masculinity.

Hank Hill’s Texas ain’t never coming back

We should make Lonesome Dove required reading in Texas high schools. I'm gonna make damn sure my son reads it when he's old enough.

Some people actually give a shit about their hard-earned freedom and rights.

I know that might seem foreign to you, as your posting history strongly suggests you don't. All you've ever shown to be interested in is how fat your billfold is, no matter whatever the fuck is going on or whatever damage is being inflicted on others.

I’m not sure I’ve encountered a Texan who has said one thing about California in years, except that they’re all moving here (which is a good thing) and their state government is beyond fucked, which is corroborated by friends that’ve moved to Dallas from Cali, and native Californian buddies.

Just don’t bring your librel politics to my state!!!

And of course everyone that is willingly moving to Texas will say that

LOL "California state government is fucked because I have friends who moved to Dallas from Cali"

I bet they're MAGA as fuck friends.

You should see the questions I get about living in LA when I visit Texas and run into old friends, family. You'd think I was living in an active war zone.

I wonder where they get that idea...

Or because it’s fucked. It’s a widely held opinion, including by liberal Californians.

As a born, raised, and educated Texan, living here for 53 years, I firmly hold the opinion that this state is fucked. And in my professional and social circles, that is a widely-held belief.

I’m sticking around and standing my ground, though, because this place is my home and it’s worth fighting for.

It's insane when I come to visit for a get together. Aunts and Uncles I talk to rarely are so interested and act like it is the worst place on earth and people are just being killed constantly, no one works but it is so expensive which makes no sense but I try to let them figure that out. None of it makes sense at all, especially these fucks who are on every form of welfare and we all grew up in Pleasant Grove in Dallas which was worse than any part of LA I have lived in. We moved when I was 11 to the upperclass (lol) suburb of Mesquite because a drive by happened next door and 2 stray rounds went into our house. These people are insane

Well off whites who leave think it's "fucked" because it's way more democratic than Texas. Remember when our governor flipped out because his own caucus wanted to put school choice on the ballot so Texans could vote on it? It 100% would have been on the ballot in California. Sometimes those ballot initiatives don't benefit rich whites, so it must be fucked.

Don't forget all the Californians who leave because taxes are so high, so they come to Texas because of the bullshit PR campaign about low taxes and then they get their first property tax bill and home owners insurance quote

Health insurance is higher here, too. And that nasty lil 8% on everything you buy. I've seen several Californians that moved to Texas only to find out the overall tax burden is actually lower there.

Not like having to AC your house for 23 hours a day for 6 months of the year is cheap either

Ok. I guess the majority of Californians like their leadership, regulatory environment, immigration and homelessness policies. I suspect this is all just a construct in my mind, and you and your band of contrarian whiners actually have your finger on the Cali pulse.

No, its not a construct. Its merely an opinion developed after talking to 2 couples from LA who now live in Texas. Up to you to decided what weight you want to give that anecdotal evidence. I was merely sharing that my experience differs.

Also:

Quote

Our first survey of Californians and their government this year reveals some good news for a California politician whose popularity is on the upswing. Majorities of California adults (52%), registered voters (52%), and likely voters (55%) approve of the way that Gavin Newsom is handling his job as California governor,

Look, no place is perfect, but acting like CA is some sort of hellhole compared to TX is delusional. We have shitty tax policy, terrible education, pathetic healthcare, lousy infrastructure, policies that erode personal freedoms, etc. When it comes to shitty states, Texans live in a Texas-sized glass house.

Fun fact, some think tank took all of Texas' statutes, and those of every other state, and compiled a "freedom index" based on the number of uses/occurrences/recurrences of mandatory words like "shall" and "must."  Texas had the lowest freedom index in the nation on that basis.

Ok pal. I’m sorry you’re getting worked up. But I do.

Second, I don’t really encounter them. I hear shit on the radio or TV about California, but every person I know in Texas LOVES going there. Some own homes there, some vacation there regularly, etc. Nobody is anti-CA or overly political about it.

I don’t know how saying this is the slightest bit controversial. Just a different perspective.

Gavin Newsom: most recent approval rating = 55%

Greg Abbott: most recent approval rating = 44%

That tells you two things.  First, there are plenty of people in BOTH states who "don't approve of state leadership."  No shit, sherlock, these are polarizing times.  Second....it tells you that MORE Californians approve of their state's leadership than Texans approve of theirs.

Sure, among the 45% of Californians who don't like leadership, you talk to a disproportionate number of them.  Cool.  Anecdotal evidence is not statistical evidence.  Statistics....are.

My wife and I have been amazed at how wonderful it is to live in a state with a functioning government.  That is, one that functions for its citizens.  Need a driver's license?  Make an appointment online for 4 days later, then go in and get it done in literally 10 minutes.  Same for registering a car.  Public parks and trails everywhere, and constant investments in their upkeep and expansion.  And just a regular deluge of information on things that are happening in town.

I honestly kind of hate myself for living in Texas as long as I did.  It's like I got out of a bad relationship with someone who didn't actually care for me.

Do I think California has outrageously high taxes, a homeless problem, and generally dysfunctional government? Yes.

If I had the coin to move to a nice MCM house or garden apartment in Los Feliz, would I do it?  In a motherfucking heartbeat.  You wouldn't even get the offer all the way out of your mouth before I'd be trying to sign paper.
