The Witcher season 2 is coming to Netflix on December 17
By Tyler Wilde about 3 hours ago

The eight episode season will introduce a bunch of new characters, plus a more "rock and roll" Jaskier.

The Witcher season 2 will release on Netflix on December 17, 2021. The date was announced during the WitcherCon livestream today, and puts the second season two years after the first season, which aired in December of 2019.

Like the first season, The Witcher season 2 will be eight episodes long. Netflix also revealed most of the episode titles:

A Grain of Truth
Kaer Morhen
What is Lost
Redanian Intelligence
Turn Your Back
Dear Friend
Voleth Meir
...And one that's "Top Secret"

The WitcherCon stream is still going, so there'll be more teases. So far, Netflix has only given us scraps, and no big season 2 trailer, but we might get one before it's over.

We learned that one of the monsters featured in season 2 will be the Leshy, and got a very brief look at a bony hand. We also saw Jaskier's new, more "rock and roll" season 2 look:

"It's definitely something," joked Jaskier actor Joey Batey about the photo. "What a [bleep]. What a moron. What's he doing?"

Batey also said—jokingly, but maybe not—that "there might be a small amount of hat in [season 2] for about 47 seconds." He's referring to the bard's distinctive hat, which the producers tried (there's a photo of him wearing it) but ultimately didn't make it into season 1.

One other tidbit: We'll meet a bunch of new characters as Geralt's story develops in season 2 (see the full list in our Witcher Season 2 guide), but The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said during the livestream that her favorite addition to the cast is Kim Bodnia as Vesemir. Her favorite scene from the season involves "Vesemir and Ciri in a Kaer Morhen lab," she said, and "took an entire day to shoot."

We'll add more details as WitcherCon continues today.

I hate it when character names are changed from books to screen.  Also hated the casting of Yen and especially Triss.

So this is fall/winter will see Amazon's Lord of the Ring series, and Amazon's Wheel of Time series released, and then Witcher season 2.

Hopefully they’ll have the budget to film more fight scenes like the first one in the village. That one teased some inventive brutal sword play and we never got it again.

If they keep their current marketing team no one will know about any of it.

Out today first 2 episodes good so far...

Did know there was a League of Legends show coming, but the artwork looks nice.

It was actually really well done.

Ciri definitely grew up a little. It’s noticeable but not distracting.

During a Yennefer scene I noticed that pawn and porn are pronounced the same in an English accent.

Oh I need to rewatch ssn1

I don't want to, but might have to rewatch as well.  They have a recap on Netflix that I thought would be enough but it is hot garbage.  I'll peruse Youtube for a narrated recap I guess, and rewatch if necessary.

Cool man

Good first episode. I’m glad to see Ciri is 20 since she has aged quite nicely.

Also confirmed. No reason she can’t be part of the occasional skin that gets shown on this show.

Just finished season 2, well done and very entertaining (never read the books). 2 disappointments, only 8 episodes and I don’t recall seeing any boobies.

The vampire monster girl showed them briefly in Ep 1 when she was being stabbed by Tormund Giantsbane.

The whores showed some too here and there.

Thought it was a fun choice for the one guy to tell the bard everything he didn’t like about his song, which happened to be the criticisms of season 1.

“It took me til the 4th verse to realize there were different timelines”

Lulz

Season 2 was leaps and bounds over season 1, and I liked season 1. Great show, binged the entire season in 1 day.

2 episodes in on Season 2.

Love it and yes Yennefer and Ciri are both noice!!

Watching this and Wheel of Time simultaneously is bringing out my inner D&D nerd persona.

Quote

In Andrzej Sapkowski's books that inspired both the video game series and the television show, Dandelion's name was originally Jaskier. When translated directly from Polish to English, Jaskier means Buttercup, a name that doesn't quite properly fit the bard's personality. So instead of Buttercup, the translator opted to change Jaskier's name to Dandelion, seeing that it better fit the character.

I rewatched S1 before starting S2 and I'm glad I did.  Missed or didn't understand a lot of S1.  The first 2 eps of S2 (the only I've watched so far) have been the best eps of the show imo.

I am doing a rewatch of S1 now, glad it may be worth it

Among other Witcher things Netflix has up now, for your Christmas needs there is a loop of the fire at kaer morhen.

Got 3 eps left of S2. I will probably finish them tonight after the inlaws leave.  I'm enjoying it.

Just started the series last week. Season one was a bit of a mess, but interesting enough to keep watching. The last couple of episodes really helped bring it all together. Three episodes in and season two is much better.

Better than Artax

Rewatched season 1 before starting season 2 and really glad I did.  I think The Witcher is much better than Wheel of Time which I completed watching season 1.  Cavil is perfectly cast for the role and he makes it work.

Just re watched season 1

Just finished ep1 season 2….

lol tormund with no beard. That’s funny

ciri is hot now… ok

starting episode 5 tonight..
