June 10Jun 10 Haven't seen a thread yet. This one is getting a lot of hype heading into its release. 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so far. Winner of the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. I read the short story in Stephen King's If It Bleeds a few years ago. I remember enjoying it, and it had a kind of heavy "each human life is its own universe" type theme. But I don't recall the makings of a feature film. Still, some of King's works from his short story/novella collections have been solid to outstanding films (e.g., Stand By Me, Children of the Corn, Shawshank Redemption). Will probably check it out in the theater.
June 10Jun 10 I really liked it. It's a very faithful adaptation of the story, and like you, when I read the story I couldn't imagine it as a feature film. But it's surprisingly feel-good, considering the first act, and has tons of great cameos. I don't think I've seen Mia Sara in anything since Ferris Bueller and she was great here. If you're a Flanagan fan, and a Stephen King fan, I'd definitely see it in a theater.
