State football title games to be streamed on Victory+, whatever that is.

Hallelujah for all of us out-of-staters who don't want to get satellite, which I believe has been the only way to access these games for several years now. Could be wrong, but I certainly haven't been able to purchase whatever regional service would let me get the games.

Haven't heard of these guys before, but happy they're doing this. Seems it may be attached to Dave Campbell's.

Victory+ is a streaming service providing access to Texas Rangers (for a fee) and Dallas Stars games. They also have other sports and outdoors related content.

I didn't know the title game was included but I've never used it for much more than the 2 major sports teams. Idk if they have any ties to Dave Campbell or if it's just being promoted there.

Sounds like these games are supposed to be free. I'll believe it when I see it, but I'd pay for them anyway.

"The change to Victory+ (https://victoryplus.com/) will be the first time all of the Texas High School
State Football Championships will be available for free and outside the cable bundle that was the
main distribution platform for the Regional Sports Network model who was the carrier for the last
3 decades."

Kind of an odd news release. It's from DCTF, and it says they "brokered" the deal.

Well this is some bullshit.  I still get Bally's for some reason but not Victory

It's not a channel. It's an app. Download it on your phone.

The Stars games were region locked so this could be as well. But if so you can easily just get a VPN and use a Dallas or Houston server.

Will they have the cowboy hat “Coach” that nobody ever heard of doing commentary between games and at halftime?

Victory+ has been an excellent experience for Rangers games.

The release does say "exclusive streaming rights" so I'm wondering if it's just an additional platform. I can't imagine they'd remove it from broadcasts.

I've never understood those regional blackouts, which weren't part of the HS sports environment 10 years ago but seem to be now. Before I cut the cord from DirectTV and then Spectrum, I could get FoxSW (and the rest of 'em) and watch these games. Streaming packages stopped carrying Fox/Bally, and whoever else, at some point in the last 6-8 years -- I can't even remember when my access got cut off and I couldn't get it back without DTV.

Regardless, the release also says this is a "major step forward in elevating the visibility and accessibility of Texas high school football ... statewide and beyond," so I'm hopeful I can stream those state games come December.

Everything was free when I initially downloaded the app. The Rangers pkg was the only cost item.

I have it on my firestick. Works great

Remember Fox Sports Southwest and all those type things when you had cable? They used to show less-than-interesting college games and other stuff? A lot of replays and last week's games. They were the home of the Stars and Rangers (and probably the Mavericks, but I don't care for pro bball).

I'll spare you the saga of the monopoly-divesting-I-wanna-buy-ESPN stuff, but those networks got sold to Sinclair Media (political rant not included) who stuck them into Ballys. Ballys was a network that old people got on their cable networks when they couldn't figure out streaming. Since you can't make a profit off Feen-A-Mint commercials any more, that whole thing collapsed largely under the weight of the regional Diamond Media contracts that supported the Rangers and Stars. Once the courts were sufficiently assured that no one was coming to bail out Diamond, the NHL and MLB were glad to get those properties back to the franchises to do as they will.

What they did was contract with a stand-alone app called "Victory+". It isn't a channel on your cable box. It's an app. They have native apps (you download and run them directly on your device) for Android, iOS, AppleTV, Roku, Amazon's FireOS (Firesticks and such), Samsung, and LG's WebOS (finally).

Last season, the app worked great to stream Dallas Stars hockey, who chose to make it available for free (no guarantee they'll do it again next season, but hey). Obviously there's still advertisement breaks as usual. The Texas Rangers charged $99 for a season's worth. I don't usually watch much MLB, but the son-in-law is a fan, so I'm sure it'll come up.

Download the app to your smart TV or device. Registration was painless, and I'm not getting spammed.

I'll never get over HSE going away.  Got to follow the New Jersey Devils' magical run to the 1988 ECF, and then boom, it's gone like a fart in the wind.

Home Sports Entertainment, the best team on TV!  H-S-E!
