June 13Jun 13 Oh good, I'm glad Gil thought it was important to pay his respects and remind everyone that he has the all-time shittiest, most uncultured take on anything ever.
June 13Jun 13 I've started watching the doc linked earlier in this thread & now whenever I hear Brian Wilson's voice in it all I hear is Carl Spackler. So I've got that going for me. Which is nice.
June 14Jun 14 Oh good, I'm glad Gil thought it was important to pay his respects and remind everyone that he has the all-time shittiest, most uncultured take on anything ever. Gil also doesn't know why Chuck Berry is held in high regard. How many people have Sweet Little Sixteen on their Spotify playlist?

June 14Jun 14 I grew up playing a shitload of Chuck Berry, like every other guitar player. My band(s) were never interested in covering "Sloop John B" for some reason.

June 17Jun 17 Wilson's passing unexpectedly sent me on a path to learn more about the Beach. To me, the craziest part is how they (their father) sold off the Beach Boys master and publishing rights, even though the ultimately were able to get a percentage of them back. Could only imagine how much they lost by that short term decision. Similar story with the Beatles. But I guess at the time, they didn't anticipate the commercialization of music over time.
