June 17Jun 17 The only one in that category to really do it right is Top Gun Maverick. That is a serious outlier, that just nailed everything 100%.

June 17Jun 17 gonna be there regardless but can't say I'm a not little concerned it turns in a History of the World part 2 performance.... that said, really I'm in for Blazing Saddles 2 but Brooks may not live long enough. Maybe Chappelle could pull that off.

October 6Oct 6 Glad that they’re actually making a sequel as opposed to unoriginal or lazy idea to go with a remake. It will be interesting to see how they make it work especially given that Star Wars isn’t as much in the fore front as it was even in ‘87. IMO or at least from my perspective at the time. They can’t really spend much time making fun of Star Wars elements today. I’m sure they can go with a baby yoda/mandalorian reference or joke but a joke with the original, prequel or even sequel would be dated. (Yes, I know the last sequel was only released 6 years ago. I looked it up. does anyone really care about the sequels?)

October 6Oct 6 You can do anything with an absurd comedy but Blazing Saddles left it so there isn't a natural sequel. The characters literally came through the 4th wall into a Hollywood film lot, fought other actors, and chased down the villain (Harvey Korman) in a cinema who was watching them on the screen coming after him. Completely absurd but fantastic at the same time. Then they rode off into the sunset in 70s Cadillacs. The story ended. What's the sequel? And remaking Blazing Saddles is unnecessary. I get the concept to make more money so I wouldn't blame Hollywood for remaking it, but I can't think of a reason why a fan would want to remake it, or see a watered down sequel. I never watched History of the World, part 2 on Hulu. Was it any good?

I don’t think they could get away with a remake or sequel to Blazing Saddles in this day and age. Your watered down remark was on point, if not a bit conservative.
