Somebody here always has to carp about something.

I always laugh when people outside of the industry think O&G employees are getting dirty, stinking rich from black gold. It’s probably because field meatheads blow their paychecks on F250s and bass boats.

As the Beverly Hillbillies so eloquently demonstrated 60 years ago, the mineral owners are the people making serious money. And hey, good for them.

@Armybrat I think if you feel comfortable enough to share your W2, then you can probably tell us who your operator is. Just curious on who’s still up there and doing well.

I am happy with a few crumbs.

Army Brat, I hope your kids & grandkids are super nice to you. I know you’ve mentioned it before, but Do you have other family member getting checks also, or just you? How many acres was it? Any idea what the production was for the year y’all are getting paid off of? Enjoy it.

Alert, alert, mineral buyer detected.

20 other relatives were in on this 240 acre mineral tit.

3 sold their shares years ago, the rest of us are in for the long haul.
1 was in jail somewhere but can’t be found now.

Any guesses on XOM’s move. Please tell me internationally.

WTI hits $70 for the first time in 6 weeks (since the strikes on Iran's nuke facilities). Had been rangebound between $65-68 since 6/20.

The slave name Bertha gave him that he hated - or the secret one I gave him that he liked and answered to?

You, me, and your wife can discuss that in Europe - on me - once I get my royalty check.

And the IEA is predicting a storage glut next year. I hate those guys, and unfortunately they can move markets.

Any seriously good recs on the attorney front to deal with XTO and some substantial $s in my grandmother's estate?  She died 20 plus years ago and they've received all paperwork.  Calls/email inquiries are not being responded to with anything helpful by XTO.

I need the Oil & Gas version of Saul Goodman.

I assume we’re talking probate and division orders. Are they being slow to process the transfer or they ignoring you?

If they’re ignoring you, I would ask a surly attorney to write a demand letter on their letterhead for a flat fee

I know a partner a Steptoe that’s licensed to practice law in every oil and gas producing state in the US. I’d imagine his retainer would be in the $5k range.

Were your communications with them as lacking in detail as this post??? What do you mean by money in your grandma's estate? Who's name is the interest currently in?

The lack of detail is tied directly to the thought that I'm not sure what is and what is not safe to post on a message board.  Of course, there's a lot more detail when dealing with XTO, but that is ineffective as their firewalls prevent any real conversation with exchanges of real, useful information from occurring.

The logical next step seems to be sharing that detailed information with an experienced attorney who can take the details, decipher what's known, and break through XTO's gatekeeping system to get some movement on the matter.

Certainly that's enough information to get to the, "I might know a guy..." level.  No?

Another 10 figure deal in Houston. KKR-backed Crescent Energy is buying SilverBow for $2.1B. This comes just weeks SilverBow turned down Kimmeridge's latest unsolicited offer to buy the company.

Crescent will now be the #2 operator in the Eagle Ford.

Crescent makes its 2nd big acquisition in the past 18 months, buying Vital Energy for $3.1B. Surprising move b/c Crescent is primarily an EF operator, while Vital is a pure Permian play.

I'm at Crescent. Totally caught all of us off guard due to it being Permian. I would be shocked if there isn't another one in the next 6-9 months.

Hope nobody is hit by the ConocoPhillips layoffs, 25% layoffs while paying out dividends and buying back shares is a real raw deal. Bartlesville is gonna be even more of a ghost town, Price tower with its weird triangle rooms may not have much longer for this world

It includes employees and contractors, so it could potentially be quite a bit of international contractors. Could be looking to reduce their exposure in unfriendly places.

They cut Marathon to the bone, so this isn’t a redundancies thing. COP is probably reducing headcount to bankroll the acquisition.

Yeah, if they made it through about a thousand cuts at COP to get a retirement package that is some final boss level shit. My hat is off to them.

Although EIA has been bearish on oil, they're quite bullish on natty in the short-term:

Latest average price per MMBtu forecasts:

Q3 '25: $3.04

Q4 '25: $3.72

Q1 '26: $4.25

Q2 '26: $3.64

Q3 '26: $4.26

Q4 '26: $4.99

Let's say this comes to be. Or even in this direction.  What plays get busier?  Any older plays open back up a bit?

Haynesville is still pretty busy ATM, but I'd imagine it would pick up a little bit more. Also Utica and the gassier areas of the EF maybe.

Wood Mac is bullish on everything. Still waiting for the PRB bonanza they projected in the 2010s.
