Incurable tainting is a great phrase.

And  also a perfect way to describe collie station

Not to be confused with the terminal gooch or the stage 4 grundle.

Great band name.  In fact, great aggy band name.

Will this girl be live tweeting like the girl in the starfucker killer case? Not quite as fascinating as that one, but that was a good way to follow it. For me, at least.

Killing this black man who had been smoking the demon weed created an inconvenience that resulted in this HERO not getting laid.  We move for an immediate mistrial!

She’s probably watching the live stream online video feed. Phones and iPads etc not allowed inside the courtroom. DMN seems to be putting much of the content behind their paywall, so not sure how this will go.

Why are we just now finding out that she was going to fuck the brains out of her DPD partner?

I haven't been able to watch much this morning. More details on horny snapchats?

In opening statement from the prosecution, one message was “super horny” and another “wanna touch?” along with a picture that was deleted by Snapchat and not in evidence for the trial.

Prosecution says that that Jean’s door was not locked and possibly opened (didn’t fully close).

DMN doesn't have a liveblog going.

That is kind of what I suspected.  Must be pretty close to indisputable or the prosecution wouldn't admit it.

Is it DPD partner or SO-type partner?

Sounds like a night-time partner, one might call a fuck buddy, that was also on DPD force.

Hard to know. She was "super horny" and wanted to do some touching. It'll come out in the trial. I assume the other person will be testifying the details.

I think the DA said he was a partner in her cop group plus her boyfriend

Prosecutor in opening statement brings up the information about Jean smoking weed. Says the “why” will be explained later by his sister.

I am interested to see where that goes.

I guess they wanted to get that out front and in the open lest the defense "surprise" the jury with some reefer madness.  Which meant it was coming into evidence.

Really horrible if she did not offer first aid and comfort to the victim in his last moments. Sounds like she was trying to cover her own tracks in the last moments that the victim was struggling to stay alive.

DPD. They're doing it to counter the narrative that she was tired from a long day at work. Apparently not tired enough to go see him and ride his pole

Right, I was just curious how "incestuous" it was.

Fuck his brains out, blow her neighbors brains out, SHE'S AN OVERWORKED HERO! she was tired and confused . An honest mistake . Case dismissed

She went from fuck to blow

There is no way in the world a Black man in a middle-class apartment building in the South would get out weed, let alone smoke it, with his fucking door ajar.  Even the highest, most stoned black man is gonna close the door, lock it, close the patio door, close all the vents, put towels down at the bottom of the doors, and breathe through a paper towel roll with a dryer sheet shoved inside it.  This is not the movie "Friday", your honor---where Black men just sit on their patio and smoke to their hearts content with no regard for neighbors, nearby children, or law enforcement.  The victim was completely innocent, not a Chris Trucker charicature.

Anyway, curious to see how the rest of the day shakes out.

I'm currently taking evidence, so this whole process is relevant to my interests.

Prosecution opening statement was out in front to refute the expected “mistake of fact” defense from Guyger. They mentioned the many differences between her apartment and his: his smelled like weed hers did not, his was messy hers clean, she had no welcome matt he had a red one (displayed to the jury). Prosecution says she parked on wrong floor (4) and passed by 16 apartments on that floor without noticing she was on the wrong floor. Then the info about making plans to hook up that night with fellow DPD officer to refute the expected “she was really tired” claim.

If I'm driving a car and preoccupied while sexting my wife...thereby running over a pedestrian;  I'm fucked (not in the way I wanted).

Same scenario and I'm too preoccupied sexting that I don't pay attention to where I park or that I'm at the wrong apartment door.......?

The timing of those texts as it related to when she entered the garage and when she opened his door will obviously be critical.

Defense says this comes down to reason and common sense. She thought she was in her own apartment and there was an intruder and she had no choice but to use her gun for self defense.

Are they going to present pictures of his apartment and how it is furnished compared to hers? Common sense has to kick in at some point and tell you this is not your house. This isn't a hotel where every room looks the same. I think this could be more plausible if it happened at a hotel room.

The bullshit "mistake of fact" defense.  Defense attorney alluding to how she liked and wanted to help and protect minorities.  A friend told me she has noticeably darkened her skin and hair since she murdered Jean.

Defense begins opening statement by calling this “an epic tragedy”.

That she was allowed to ever be a police officer in the first place?  Yes, I concur 100% your honor.  Ipso facto...Corpus Christi!

"Guyger sat in a car on the perimeter while the SWAT team busted in on some bad dudes and she had worked 40 HOURS Monday-Thursday!" isn't as convincing of an argument as this guy thinks it is.

Defense saying it’s a confusing apartment building and they have evidence of tenants trying to enter wrong apartment units many times.

I've met servers at Waffle House with more vigor.

Imagine the trail of dead if she had decided to become a staff auditor at a Big 4 accounting firm instead of a police officer.

Lol...

Yeah, come the fuck on.  That is the preferred oil and gas workweek in Houston.

Opening statements scheduled to begin at 12:30pm. Judge says jury will be sequestered for entirety of the trial.

Let's say I'm a Sales executive at a high growth software company that's trying to go public and someone decides that they want me on this jury. It's going to cause me to miss an end of quarter, which could be devastating to my company's growth goals.

How bad are the consequences if I tell them thanks, but no thanks, I have other shit to attend to?

10-hour work days lead to mental exhaustion?  ..........Every business owner in America has a license to kill via mistake of fact.

I think the preferred method is to accidentally shoot one of your fingers off before marching towards battle.

That's when you say you've been obsessively following the case and there's no way in hell she shouldn't spend the rest of her life in jail during jury selection.

Defense says Guyger was not ramping up the relationship with the other officer. They flirted a lot but that’s it. No plans to hook up that night. They hadn’t hooked up in months. Calls it a false narrative from prosecution.

Defense says the door locks were defectively installed and sometimes the doors do not fully close.

How many of the jurors do they need to convict and can they convict her on a manslaughter charge? If not, why didn't the city charge her with manslaughter?

How many of them shot somebody?
