Starting a discussion for topics related to our season opener against couch-burning, jort-wearing d-bags. I went in 2005, and like a lot of you went to the HornFans/Miani”s tailgate and dealt with the whole white-trash townie/High Street shitbag experience. Despite all of that, going back again cuz fuckin’ Horns.

I assume our esteemed leader will have an epic event planned as always, but opening this up as a general conversation around tickets/hotels/flights, etc….

I myself am flying up Friday night and leaving late Saturday, staying at the downtown Hyatt. Gonna wait until 2-3 days before our flight to buy game tix…

Arrive Friday. Renaissance Downtown. Hopefully with early kickoff we can celebrate safely after the win. Unlike 2005 dodging empty liquor bottles, burning cars and couches. Complete shit show. "we don't lose at night"-osu fans. That night you did fucksticks.

Arriving Friday morning, leaving Sunday evening. Considering driving down to Cincinnati for the Reds game early Sunday.

Flying up Thursday. Staying at friend's house who is a tOSU grad. Prayers I don't strangle him before Saturday as I know he'll have 2024 CFP champ stuff all over the house.

Unfortunately, too many things going on around that time to make this one. Y’all have fun though, and the rest of us will have to live vicariously through your adventures.

I think imma and wulaw should take the RV up for this one.

Will be about 2 hours away for a family reunion that weekend.  If I can score tickets, I (and tOSU in-law) will be there.

i'm arriving around noon thursday, flying out early..EARLY Sunday morning though..

I got an AirBnB north of Grove City... going to wait out til game week for tickets

You couldn't pay me enough to go to C'bus, after 2005. I'd rather go to Fayetteville.

Headed there on Friday home Monday from Cleveland (going to see NIN there on Sunday). Hampton inn and suites!

What is their night game record now...surely they've lost another game or two since then

Will be following this.  We play @ OSU and the boy and I may make the trip.  Could be a bloodbath, but still worth it.  Just don't know what we would do for 3 days in Columbus.

My sister-in-law works for Ohio St. and when we send our kids up to visit her she takes them to Cincinnati.  It's supposed to be a nice city.  Maybe spend a couple of days there.

“The Buckeyes are 16-5 (. 762) overall and 9-1 (. 900) in the Big Ten in night games through September 18, 2017. Ohio State's most recent night game was a 42–17 win versus Tennessee on December 21, 2024 as part of the 2024–25 College Football Playoff.“

I was there myself with a group of frat bothers from the early 80’s. We intentionally left the wives at the hotel knowing things might sloppy after the game, After the game, bottles were thrown at us as well wore our burnt orange, I’ve been to a number of road games from Penn State to Nebraska to Norte Dame, etc. Worse experience that I ever had outstanding of the victory in Columbus. Have been to Columbus since a number of times for the Memorial golf and the bar scene next to the stadium has change significantly. I doubt that things will be significantly better with a victory this time.

I think the key piece of intel that we have now that we didn’t have then was don’t trek back up the white trash townie bar ghetto of High Street after the game…

Moving about an hour and a half away for work.  going to try and score some tickets.

Sorry you have to move to Ohio.

Flying in Friday night and staying at the Canopy in downtown. Waiting to buy tickets until much closer to gametime

Out of curiosity, percentage wise, how much will you save by waiting?  10-20 percent? No idea.

Depends on the game but I remember tickets for Bama and Michigan dropping 40% leading up to the games

Agree, though I oddly had a great experience in Fayetteville this past fall.  Wife (TN) grad and son wanted to go to the Arky/Vol game.  I was wearing Longhorn attire and didn't have a single negative interaction during the three hours before the game on and around campus.

I wouldn't have believed me either had I not made the trip myself.  The Arky rivalry is a bit before my time; however, I've heard the stories.  Personal anecdote aside, I'd still put them in the Top 5 fanbases I wouldn't want to see on gamedays.

Every football experience I have had w/ OSU has been net negative.  The fans are annoying as hell.

I have visited Columbus a few times, some for kid college visits.  Every person I met in Columbus and at tOSU for college visits was pleasant and down to earth.  Sometimes fans just cannot help but be assholes; for many, the only affiliation to the university is the T-shirt they bought at Walmart or Dick's.

That said, I enjoyed the following places when I last visited:

  • Seventh Son Brewing
  • Land-Grant Brewing
  • Hoof Hearted Brewing

Clearly, I focused on beer there.

We're taking the kids to their first game and I didn't want to risk waiting, so I started working on tickets early to get 5 together. I thought we'd be in the cheap seats, but ended up buying 5 in Club 2, row 15 for a song. Now I can spend the next 2 months mentally preparing my children for the atrocities they're going to witness.

Here’s your cover for your trapper keepers

Totally agree; people posting shit about not selling gas and all this other shit are living in a different time. For the record, I’m 58….
