We're taking the kids to their first game and I didn't want to risk waiting, so I started working on tickets early to get 5 together. I thought we'd be in the cheap seats, but ended up buying 5 in Club 2, row 15 for a song. Now I can spend the next 2 months mentally preparing my children for the atrocities they're going to witness.

As long as you aren’t running the townie ghetto of High Street bars to and from, you’ll be fine…

Been there, done that, never again. I’ll be at all of the other road games though.

It’s been 20 years. That shit is all gentrified now. This like expecting to walk into 1985 Austin in 2005.

Platter?

How old are you?

Old enough to have pissed off Akers while I was playing racquetball in Bellmont.

Old enough to have had an afternoon Statesman paper route.

My father was a Silver Spur 75 years ago.

Good luck to those that attend.  I have no desire to ever return to that wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Yeah, so you’re about my age. Compare 6th Street in 1985 to 2005; is that the High Street analogy?

Wasn’t there in 2005. The job was a decade later so I wasn’t hitting High St in my late 40s while raising kids outside of having dinner at the tiki bar. The Bridge Park area , Clintonville, or Easton was where we went.

CBus is tracking Austin’s progress from about 30 years ago. Same liberal magnet in and conservative area and graduates don’t want to leave. Not on navigable water so heavy industry is tied to railway thus mostly white collar service jobs.

It was the typical gentrification story. Gays move in to a rundown neighborhood in a good location inmass and fix everything up. Now only top 20% incomes can afford the area.

You can sip wine while strolling between art galleries on High St these days.

I was promised townies flinging Pabst bottles at my head, and townies I shall have, sir!

High Street around campus is not the Short North.  The Short North is a mile south. The campus area of high street has been cleaned up a bit but I wouldn’t advise going in that area after the game.  Exit the stadium west and south to get back to your destination.  Do not go east of high street up by campus at any point.

High Street is basically Columbus maim street.

From south to north it goes through the following areas that have bars, breweries and restaurants throughout:

German Village

Downtown

Arena District

Short North

Campus

Clintonville

Worthington

If I'm not insulted in or near High Street this time like I was in 2005 by Buckeye fans, I will be disappointed.

Looks like visitors are all on the horseshoe end now, either down low around the EZ (assuming students, band, and CTJ) or in the upper EZ on that side. IIRC in 2005 those of us in the upper deck were on the opposite end, facing the Limas end zone…

Is that the North end, facing the Scoreboard?  Want to know for when we buy tickets.

That’s what it looks like to me from gleaning through posts on various boards. A Tennessee guy I work with said their allotments were 4AA-10AA and 6C-10C, which seems consistent with other posts I’ve seen. I’ll wait until we get our allotment (which is when prices will start falling) but that’s how it looks to me..

It was called that 20 years ago and they had Gallery Hop then too.

Quote

Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins’ arrest occurred Saturday after police had been called for a “delayed battery” and then “determined a battery had occurred,” a Fort Lauderdale Police Department Media Relations Unit spokesperson told ESPN.

Police officers arrived at a location on West Cypress Creek Road around 9 a.m., spoke with the victim and then “made contact” with Judkins, 21, to arrest him, Sergeant David Soika told the outlet in his statement.

It’s unclear where Judkins, the former Ohio State star who was drafted in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, was located when police spoke with the victim, or when the alleged incident occurred.

Judkins was charged with a misdemeanor battery (domestic) crime, according to the Soika’s statement, and his inmate log described the charge as “touch or strike/battery/domestic viol[ence].”

I'm at the Residence Inn Downtown, which appears to have a bourbon bar attached to it. I'm related news I will be drinking a lot of bourbon Friday night.

Just decided to go to the game. Is surly doing a tailgate?

I hope so. The one in Ann Arbor was a blast.

I booked the Moxy Short North late last week, just a couple rooms left at a marginally better rate with Marriott membership + prepaid.  Not bothering with the visitors section as I want to see as much of the field as possible (though I head sight lines are good at Ohio Stadium).  Sec 23C, Row 1, lets's go.

I hope the result is the same or better. And that goes for their spats-wearing Bugs Bunny cartoon sounding band, too.

I just booked Moxy too

Moxy is a pretty good location.  Lox bagel shop and North Star cafe are close and very solid breakfast options.  Press grill is a great dive bar late night spot right across the street basically.

Residence inn is a good location downtown.  The bourbon bar is just ok but a cool setting.  The Citizens Trust bar is great and about a block away.  Very solid restaurants are very close as well at Veritas (maybe high end for a football game), Hank’s and Speck. A few good breweries in that area in Wolf’s Ridge and Jackie Os.  Tip top is a great dive bar across the street and pins is a fun spot a couple block away,

Staying at Moxy too.

So I guess walking back to the hotel from the stadium, stopping at every bar for a beer and watching football, is NOT a good idea? I’m old, and don’t want drama.

We’re coming in hot Friday morning. Leaving Sunday morning. Staying at the Junto. Look forward to it. I missed ‘05 game but made Rose Bowl. Let’s go

Hey TripAdvisor how’s the  Renaissance Columbus downtown? Staying there this go round. Dinner at Lindey’s Friday night. Drinks there before or after. Any suggestions for another bar nearby after dinner or back near the hotel?

There’s a bar close to the stadium called Ethyl and Tank if memory serves.

They did power hours when we were there the day before Ohio State vs ND game. First hour pitchers were like 3 bucks, next hour 4, next 5, etc. from like 3-7.

All of my recommendations for the Residence Inn also apply to the Renaissance.  It’s just a block east of the residence inn.  Try to get your reso at Lindeys on the patio although they often say it’s first come first served there.

Lindey’s is in the middle of a residential neighborhood so not a ton of bars within close walking distance but there are a bunch of good bars about a half mile south.  Laundry, Cobra, Antiques on High and Law Bird are all within a block or so

Junto is nice.  Good restaurant and bars on site.  It is in a completely rebuilt area of downtown.  Brew Dog and Land Grant breweries are walking distance.  Land Grant is great

I could draw you a route that would be fine for walking back but it’s a bit of a hike (3 miles). OSU games are not that intense any more although I do think this will be an exception despite the early start.  The average game environment there now is relatively corporate

You can now also walk around a lot of downtown with a drink until 10.  This area includes where most of you are staying.

Worst fans ever.  I'm 62.  I've been going to Longhorn games since I was 4 (yes, really, parents met at and graduated from Texas).

Worse than Arky, which is saying something.  After the VY game in Columbus, they were peeing in beer bottles and gatorade bottles and throwing them a Texas fans.

I took a look at seatgeek this morning. There’s multiple full rows in sections for sale. I’m wondering when scalpers start trying to sell outIMG_7263.thumb.png.4c971c8f6ef3b6aa78ee63c226faffed.png

Didn’t make the cut for tickets for OSU this year b/c didn’t renew my bball season tickets, but was probably gonna sell my two anyway for two better ones. Buying night before or day of just like all our other big away games last 2 seasons. Counting on tix dropping even more like they have previously.

  • Author

Anyone who got tix through the Foundation have any indication of when the tix will be available for download/sale? Not seeing anything available yet in what I assume is the visitors sections…

For everyone heading up to Columbus, this is the type of people you'll be hanging with:

12-year-old girl struck by sex toy thrown at WNBA game in Brooklyn; suspect sought by NYPD

The NYPD on Friday released a photo and a short video clip of a man wearing a "Beavis and Butt-Head" T-shirt and an Ohio State cap at the New York Liberty-Dallas Wings game last week at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Surveillance footage of a suspect
