As someone who is actively trying to never personally pay for ESPN again, I support this schedule.

This sucks.

And I hope NBC/Peacock's NBA presentation is way better than their NFL presentation.  I fucking hate every single thing about it

Agreed, except for Maria Taylor. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Maria Taylor.

Correct!

Per The Ringer, NBA on NBC will feature prerecorded Michael Jordan segments. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be doing any live studio stuff. Disappointing.

No thanks.

I'll go out on a limb that these segments will be one ego stroke after another just like The Last Dance.

Yeah, I think they’re going to dust off Ahmad Rashad to throw him softballs. There’s some talk of NBC bringing back Inside Stuff, so I’ll tolerate the MJ interviews to get it back.

I was hoping for some back in my day hot takes from the great one.

I also declare that I have decided to retire from the NBA.

The game retired him yrs ago.

Why are they pushing Sunday games so hard? They’re going to get creamed by the NFL every Sunday until February.

I took a nice leisurely look at the Rockets schedule, and they don’t play a single afternoon game at home. Not one.

What do you mean by pushing?  Yes there are NBA games on Sunday, just like always.

But I don't think that the nationally televised Sunday games start until after the NFL season.

Ah gotcha. I love the Sunday afternoon games after football season. I’ll miss them.

So I really dont need to subscribe to league pass because I already have Peacock/Prime/ will get Fan duel when season starts and I already have NBC/ABC/ESPN with YTTV? lol

ridiculous. This is going to be impossible to explain to my dad. At least he'll have a head start with the NFL/prime already and the one game on Youtube in week 1.

peacock will be a  challenge. probably another ESPN/ESPN3 saga but with peacock/NBC

I finally cut cable and did YTTV and will add on Altitude + for Nuggets/Avs. I have Prime separately. Hopefully I don't need to add anything else.

I assume NBC will get Roundball Rock back? I heard it used on some small conference college games on Fox College Sports or something.

I just cancelled my NBA League Pass subscription before it renewed, and I wasn't offered a discount to stay. I had done that for the last few years to save 40-50 bucks, but no joy this year. Anyone else tried it and had success?

peacock unless local markets networks like altitude or fan duel can still air those peacock games

Damn. I get him wanting to do his own thing but I'll miss he and Bill on Sundays. Assuming that would end.

Staley confirms she did actually interview with NYK and would have taken the job if offered

But they went with a retread, as is the NBA tradition

Always fit in better with the barstool crowd. But we’ll always have The Town rewatchables

I'll miss their podcasts, because he was the only one that would call Simmons out on his bullshit. Every other guest would say, "Yes, Bill, I agree that Robert Parrish is in the Top Nine Centers in NBA History and yes, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days is in the Top Six Rom-Doms That Came out From 2002-2006."

And Bill kept Russillo's Barstool tendencies from coming out.

Meh. He got Lowe back.

Bill runs a fucking empire. He doesn't need Russillo. Like I said I'll miss their pods but maybe Ryen still comes on every once in awhile.

From the NYT:

ABC/ESPN has demoted Hall of Famer Doris Burke from its NBA Finals team and promoted longtime network commentator, Tim Leger, to its No. 1 team, sources briefed on the decision told The Athletic.

Legler will pair with longtime lead play-by-player Mike Breen and Richard Jefferson on The Finals. Jefferson recently agreed to a new contract with ESPN after working his first Finals in June. Burke was on the Finals’ team for two years, becoming the first woman in history to be an analyst on one of the traditional four major American sports (NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL).

ESPN declined to comment.

ESPN is discussing a contract extension with Burke, whose contract ends after this upcoming season. She could likely end up on ESPN’s No. 2 broadcast team.

I think Doris' pxp is better than her color commentary.  But she isn't going to beat out Breen for the pxp role.

Breen sucks. The only “BANG” I want from him is the sound of a fired gun as a bullet rips through his fucking skull.

Nah.  I only get to see so many of my team's games, so the fewer there are w/ her biased ass calling them, the better.  I don't really mind her calling other games.

Breen isn’t exciting or primetime like Harlan but yea, I just cant do women calling men’s games for 2.5- 3 hrs

Wolves revert to it sometimes with our main studio host doing pxp when our main guy does a national game and it’s bad. They eventually simulcasted the radio guy to do the tv feed also and that was pretty popular for spare replacements

I think it’s a good move for espn. Leglers one of the few consistent ones at espn that isn’t terrible with analysis and over the top with theatrics. I think he’ll fit in seamlessly.

Why?

Why?

Because none have a voice I want to hear through my speakers for 2.5-3 hours. is there a reason why you singled out that line? is there a woman play by play out there you like to listen to? if so, who is it?

Because it's a weird ass thing to say. I'll take any voice who knows their shit over Reggie Miller and Mark Jackson.
