I don't think it's a good deal for JSJ. Unless he doesn't believe in himself. ~$20M 3 or 4 years from now isn't very much for a guy that has shown flashes and could wind up being a great player.

June 30Jun 30 20 mill a year is jack shit. If you are a solid rotation guy that’s a great number. I’ll look for Ayton in the Big3 league in a couple of years getting worked down low by Dwight Howard. Fuck OKC.

Denver would fucking KILL for that contract.
June 30Jun 30 I get Ayton getting bought out. He wants a fresh start. The Blazers have a surplus of centers. Ayton needs (another) fresh start. I don't know if he's trying to get to the Lakers or what, but there are quite a few teams that need bigs. I don't think he's the worst gamble to make, depending on the salary. He's not a terrible guy, allegedly. One of the better what ifs in recent NBA history is what if the Suns didn't match the free agent offer on Ayton from the Pacers? The Nurkic for Collin Sexton trade makes zero sense to me from Utah's perspective. Other than clearing out minutes and shots for Ace Bailey, they gave up a pick, got the worse player at a position they didn't really need, and took on more salary. And both players are on expiring deals. WTF? While I suppose there is another move in mind, to me it just looks like Utah is leaning into the tank more than ever. John Collins and Jordan Clarkson are on the block, too apparently. I don't think they get much for either one of them. Once they unload those two, they've basically got Lauri Markkanan and a gaggle of random very young raw prospects. And one of the best coaches in the league. They just keep throwing shit against the wall and hope something sticks, but that team has been circling the drain since the Mitchell and Gobert trades. Not one of the smoothest rebuilds in recent history.

Just saying getting 120M on the books when you've proven to be just "solid" is good.
June 30Jun 30 After original March injury, OKC's Jalen Williams having surgery - ESPN Quote Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Jalen Williams will undergo surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right wrist after managing the injury throughout the team's championship run, general manager Sam Presti said Monday. Williams, a third-team All-NBA selection, originally suffered the injury during a March 10 loss to the Denver Nuggets and missed the next two weeks. Presti said Williams is expected to make a full recovery to be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season. Quote Williams played the rest of the season with his right wrist heavily taped, though the tape was concealed by the shooting sleeve he wears on his arm. He averaged 21.4 points per game during the Thunder's march to the first title of the franchise's Oklahoma City era, highlighted by a 40-point performance to key a pivotal win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
June 30Jun 30 Man. Dallas is about to go from one of the most dynamic playmaking duo in NBA history in Kyrie & Luka to DLO as their starting PG. what a difference 365 days can make.

June 30Jun 30 I like JDub. impressive he played through that injury on his shooting wrist, couldn't even tell . he feeds into the SGA bullshit but i respect him. hes gonna be a menace for the next handful of seasons

I'm no basketball savant (obviously) but the first time I saw him play in person, I'm like "How the fuck did he fall to 12 in the draft?" Instant NBA body, huge wingspan, three level scorer, solid on defense (later became great). He's basically Pippen or Kawhi.

June 30Jun 30 imagine 20 years ago hearing that an 8th year pro PF/C (two ASG selections) with career averages of 18.5 pts, 5.5 reb, and 1.9 blocks would be signing a 5 year, $240M deal. this shit has gone so out of control it’s bonkers.
June 30Jun 30 is anybody going to sign with an eastern conference team or just Caris Lavert? what an arms race.

June 30Jun 30 53 minutes ago, Derka said: LFG!! By my maths and piecing some details together, the Nuggets shaved a little over $17M a year for a similar scorer and better defender. It's the right move to trade away an unprotected 2032 FRP: when you have the best player in the world, you do what you can to win now. I haven't been able to find out details about Bruce Brown's contract, other than the fan's site is stating a minimum deal. If that's the case and should be taken literally, Bruce's 8 years of tenure in the league means we're paying him ~$3.5M. Having almost $14M to sign additional player(s) to get back to where we were with MPJ's contract is massive here (between 1st and 2nd aprons), and that's assuming we're unable to find someone to take on Nnaji's contract. Thank 5lb 9oz baby Tebus that the Nuggets FO gives a shit about winning. Edited July 1Jul 1 by I Plead Da Fif

July 1Jul 1 is anybody going to sign with an eastern conference team or just Caris Lavert? what an arms race. No shit. I think that every time a big name is signed. Always western conference.
July 1Jul 1 Here's hoping Chris Boucher or Precious Achiuwa for big depth for the Nuggs. Then we'd still have one last roster spot to go. With Tyus Jones getting scooped up by the Magic, not sure we can do much better than the player the Magic upgraded from, Cole Anthony, but will be interesting to see if the Nuggets can.
