July 3Jul 3 Well Ayton is better than Hayes so he’s got that going for him. Then again almost every center in the league is better than Hayes. If he’s motivated and not acting like a child I’m okay with Ayton. Perhaps Luka can help resurrect his career. Not a big investment made in him so this is fine.

Above average athleticism and skills. But he just doesn’t fit what plays well with Luka. A guy that is springy and that will get downhill on a pick and roll Don’t love his attitude. He also has a shit look on his face and isn’t as good as he thinks he is seems to be a decent mid range shooter and when I watched him with KD early he looked above average

July 3Jul 3 Unless Ayton attached himself to Tyson Chandler’s hip for the past few months to learn how to set a pick and roll hard to the rim, I’ll give it until December 1 before LeBron is sick of his shit
July 3Jul 3 SGA took almost 100 more free throws in the playoffs this year than Ayton has taken in the past 2 seasons combined. Shai took more free throws in 2 different series (63 Denver, 70 Indiana) than Ayton did all year (60).

July 3Jul 3 Damn it really is crazy to think that Lebron ever since Cleveland has had a cast that makes just about any other NBA star blush.

Watching him play though you see a guy who almost never gives maximum effort. He does just enough to get paid really well to play basketball for a living. I don’t really fault a guy for not loving his profession. If someone wants to pay you millions to play a sport you may not really enjoy you either take the money and act like Ayton does or you retire and get no more paydays. Again I am fine with signing him because the cost is minimal. 8 million is nothing. He plays well then that’s a bonus. If he plays average to mediocre then he’s still better than the extremely low bar set by Hayes.

July 3Jul 3 He played decently well when Chris Paul was riding him and setting him up in Phoenix. Maybe Luka and LeBron can get him going a bit.

July 3Jul 3 Anybody want to take a stab at ranking the west right now? Tier 1: OKC, DEN, HOU Tier 2: MIN, LAC Tier 3: DAL (I'd have them tier 2 with a healthy Kyrie), LAL, GSW Tier 4: MEM, SAC, SAS, POR, PHX Tier 5: NOLA, UTAH
July 3Jul 3 OKC/Denver Houston, Minnesota, Clippers GS, Lakers, Mavs, Spurs Memphis, Portland, Suns Kings, Jazz, Pelicans

July 3Jul 3 Deandre Ayton is one of the worst #1 picks ever yet amazingly he isn't the worst pick in the 2018 draft. When people wonder why teams like Sacramento never seems to be able to compete, imagine Luka Doncic SGA and Jalen Brunson being available and you wind up with Marvin Bagley III.

One of the worst picks I can remember. Even in the moment. Luka's floor was "maybe he won't have the athleticism to dominate the NBA, but he's going to be a solid pro for a lot of years." Sacramento took a flyer on a big--when, at that point, the game shifting to the perimeter was obvious to see--because he "filled a position of need" for a team that was nowhere near competing for a title. Staggeringly dumb.
July 3Jul 3 Bron to Knicks rumor squelched by an insider. I would’ve guessed KAT would be a part of the package.
July 3Jul 3 OKC HOU, DEN, MIN LAL, GSW, LAC, SAS DAL, MEM SAC, PHO, POR UTA, NOP OKC deserves to be in their own tier and I'm putting Minny with DEN and HOU after 2 straight WCF. I bumped the Spurs a tier because I think those are the 8 playoff teams but I could see any 4 teams of those 6 in the middle sneaking in. A lot of it is health-dependent esp for GSW, DAL and LAC. Portland is probably the best of that bottom 5.

Denver, Houston, and The Great White North in the second tier. LAL, LAC, GSW in the third tier. Memphis is solidly a playoff team, probably. Play in: Portland, Dallas, Sacramento. Lottery: NOLA, Utah, Phoenix.

OKC/Denver -- they've actually won the whole thing 1A. Houston 2. Minny, Clips, Mavs (if healthy), maybe the Spurs. (I think SA surprises some people this year 3. Lakers, GS. Both rosters have 2-3 good players and not much else. Churn after that. I don't think you'll see as much separation between the 1 seed and the rest of the pack. OKC was ahead of #2 by what, 14 games? 2-6 were pretty glommed up. I think 1-3 will be family close and then you'll have the 4-8 teams. That makes that #1 seed very valuable. Say OKC is #1 and they wouldn't have to play either Denver or Houston until the WCF and then only one of them.

Am/was so excited for Val and the potential for him and Jokic both on the floor at times in the playoffs. Fingers crossed it’s a negotiating tactic to get his 2nd year guaranteed.
July 4Jul 4 Horford to the Dubs would be kind of funny. Basically the Golden Girls Warriors. Retirement home team
July 4Jul 4 Well, Bill Simmons might get some sleep tonight. His worst nightmare of Horford to the Lakers didn’t come to fruition.

July 5Jul 5 Not really understanding the logic of the Griz trading huff to the pacers. They picked up Landale off the scrap heap. It seems like a big downgrade. The pacers get a guy who is 80% of turner on a cheap contract.
