Ok, after talking to a couple of people I'm looking in to organizing a Surly Response team.  I'm writing up more details and may create a separate post on it because we will need to crowdsource people with different talents to do it.  First stage may just be a volunteer cleanup group but we can expand to other areas to.

In for 3.50. Come on. We can do this. what would you call it?

Not 8-4 response? :)

I know they are trying to arrange for fosters like this little cutie. I share because I don’t want people to forget about our furry friends. Some sadly have lost their owners forever. this account is a good one to follow. Hope this doggie gets a great foster.

Incredible outpouring of support. You still have time to hit up P Terry’s for a small donation. Veracruz, Moonshine Grill and Kerbey Lane are also contributing. If you still need to stuff your faces before midnight lol. 😂

Went to the pTerry’s in westlake for lunch, lady ahead of me ordered 100 cheeseburgers.
When I left at 11:15 the line was 20 deep inside and the drive through was single lane but already backed up to the turn in.
Last week when I was there at 11 I was the only one in the restaurant and there was one car in the drive through

Update: Went to pick up kid from Rok Golf at 8:45 and both lanes of the drive through were backed up past the turn in and there were a few dozen people inside. Usually there's no more than 1-2 cars in the drive through and no one inside at that time

There is now a FB group called Found on the Guadalupe.  It is listings and photos of all types of items found that folks are attempting to get back to the rightful owner.

This looks like a legit organization to sign up to help. I’m going to contact them that I have some people that can come in for cleanup.  They have other services they need help with. There will be other areas too.

if you want to help with other surly people send me a PM or post in the other thread

I wonder if a central Texas (Longhorn?) legend can do something similar to what JJ Watt did in Houston after Harvey.

I see what I did. I put slingshot law in the notes field, not the tribute section. Not sure if there is a way to fix that at this point.

When you donate at that link, there's a Tribute Information and Notification section at the bottom.  If you missed that, no worries. Just forward your receipt email or a screenshot to angie@slingshotlaw.com.  We still have room left to match 2 to 1 before we meet the $18k goal.

And I see your contribution from 7/7/25.  We doubled it already. THANK YOU!

@Bob Lives!, circle back and let us know the final numbers.  Here is to hoping Surly drains you of the full $12K!

Sorry to disappoint but this has only cost us about $8k so far.  Make sure you've sent your notifications to angie@slingshotlaw.com.  If you forgot to follow the instructions when you donated, just forward her your receipt. We're keeping a log.  We want to spend the full $12k on our end and raise the full $18k!

We did what we could to put a dent in it.  Pretty sure we got the particulars correct; the wife did get an email.

You and your staff are doing the Lord's work.  Keep it up.

No, thank YOU, Connie, Cindy, Tim, Rob, Cory and all the others putting in the work for Blind Faith Foundation. I'll stop by next week to see if y'all need any help, but call any time you need me.

Also, thanks to @Bob Lives! And Angie for putting up with our Surly incompetence!

LMK, I will run in with you.

For anyone looking to make a donation or give to causes involving mental health issues and Kerrville, here is a link.

I have not vetted these resources so you may want to do some research yourself.  There are so many people devastated in every possible way.

Angie confirmed she has mine. She writes hot. :)

Cross posting this cleanup opportunity:

Center Point cleanup details.  Center point is a smaller town on the east end of Kerr county and several people have told me they are not getting as much help as other places.

The volunteer process is to check in at the VFD at 8:00 am and they send teams out starting at 8:30-9:00.  I plan to be there Saturday and if I can handle it on Sunday too.

548 W Kelly St, Center Point, TX

They have a Facebook page where they post some updates like closing down work when the weather got bad yesterday.  Check it for updates before you go.

Go prepared with

  • PPE including masks, protective footwear, leather gloves and bug spray.  Light medical like bandages and antibiotic ointment.
  • Food and lots of water
  • Tools - From my experience wheel barrows, flat shovels, box knives and blades, crow bars, hammers, and screw drivers are the basics.

Edit: Also a change of clothes so you can change before you drive home.

Got dusty real fast.

There is a lot of work to clean up at Sandy Creek in NW Travis County near Leander. If you’re in the Austin area and want to help get with Austin Disaster Relief Network.

They don’t have enough people to move sort and haul stuff.

Sign up, drive up to the Round Mountain church (Leander) and park, get a job assignment and work.

For every dollar you donate, my law firm will donate two.

We’re looking to raise $18,000 by collecting up to $6,000 in donations to the Kerr County Relief Fund operated by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. Go to the following link to make your donation and in the section at the end regarding “Tribute Information,” enter “Slingshot Law” and choose to notify angie@slingshotlaw.com.

Done.  Chai x 10.

Bossman Imma has given his approval to have some "T's" printed for the demented herd.  However, he would like a banner/slogan across the back.  Of course, he would like something a little snarky/edgy that somewhat may or may not cross the line.  Put up a slogan for let the masses decide.  I submitted these:

Take the loss, pu**y!               Palace of Degenerates

Our Starfish are Sweet!           Prepare Thou Anus!

These are, of course, for the flood relief efforts.  No profit on this end.  We'll send the amount to @Bob Lives!for the match.  Here is the front design.  Exercise your 5th (not whiskey bottle) amendment rights and speak up!

Given enough interest, I guess we could do burnt orange T as well, if the grey doesn't work for you.

“No, never convicted…”

or “There’s at least Tree Fiddy of us!”

instead of “we rise”, etc

I’d want it to be something I could wear to work on someone’s house or yard without being offensive. Tongue in cheek is great but tongue in asshole is not.

Maybe something like: We’re from the internet and here to help.

or maybe a play on the What starts here slogan with a twist

I was just DM'd and asked for an update on how this turned.  I was suprised we fell short of our goal.  The firm raised $4,286.51 from gracious donors, which we matched with $8,573.02, for a total contribution of $12,859.53.

You probably hit the goal, and some of us were just too stupid to follow the match directions.

Yep, I know I messed up. And I gave a whopping tree fiddy. That damn loch ness monster probably used it to buy girl scout cookies.

By the way, I’m sure there’s a Surly tailgate and I don’t want to encroach but there’s also a Slingshot Law tailgate at our office near the TCBY and you’re all welcome to attend. No charge. There won’t be another until Aggie.

I'll say it for everyone, Thanks Bob and Slingshot Law.  Y'all did the Lord's work.
