I like Bland, I do, but his interception streak was fluky as fuck and last year when put in position to be the CB1, he failed miserably. Now, you've give him almost 100m and 24m AAV. But 44m for Micah was too much? Again, this isn't about economic responsibility, it's about Jerrah's feelings. Daron is a good soldier so he gets overpaid. Yeah, very good chance he's a flukey player that had a great year. Both he and Diggs have their Achilles heal type issues, despite having shown good production overall. But yeah, Jerry had no problem just dropping another bigass contract, almost as to send Parsons and his agent a final FU message.

September 1Sep 1 I wonder how many of those Bland picks were at least partially a result of Parsons forcing a less than accurate throw.
September 1Sep 1 So here is Bland's contract. It's not as bad as previous thought because it's backloaded with money he probably never sees. It was also marginally misreported initially. Basically, this works out to be about 17-18m (if they don't touch it) guaranteed for 3 years. 18m is what I thought would be a good takedown for Bland and 16m AAV would be good for the Cowboys. It's not as bad as 23m AAV although they only get him for 3 years. If he plays out of his mind, they could just ride on the 4th year at 26.5, but he'd have to be so good, it would just be control to work out another contract. I think, while a bit risky with the guarantees for a guy coming off injury, it's not nearly the overpay as first reported. I can get down with this one.
September 1Sep 1 Jerry loves to pay his "diamonds in the rough" because he thinks it makes him look like he is a draft savant.Bingo. Bob Sturm back before the 2016 Green Bay playoff game, said Dallas was at the top of the league in signing their own players. Problem is, we keep signing guys who do zero to get us over the hump. A never ending cycle of mediocrity.

It’s important to note that the Cowboys are not the primary counterpart in this grievance, it’s the NFL. The CBA states that your fifth-year option is paid based on what position you play the most snaps at in your third year. The blurred lines between LB and DE make it tough to decipher, but it was the NFL that classified him as a DE. Just had this conversation with a Cowboys source last week. I just wanted to come back to this, because it's yet another thing the Cowboys media floats out there at the behest of the Jones'. Yes, the NFL comes out with the initial positional indications, but the club can correct them, especially up. Again, the Cowboys didn't do it because Jerrah felt is was leverage, and is an old, bitter, petty egotist. Just wanted to clear this up because I'm sure you heard correct from whatever source, but it was put out there by the front office. Edited September 2Sep 2 by Patrick Bateman
September 2Sep 2 I don't really care, but he was a DE at Dallas. Why does LB have a greater value than DE on these options?
September 2Sep 2 jerrah pulled a fast one on green bay !!!! Micah Parsons is dealing with a L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back, per @AdamSchefter. Parsons may receive an epidural injection prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Lions if necessary to help him play.

Fuck Micah Parsons. “I wanted to stay in Dallas”… horseshit. You wanted the biggest contract for a non QB in NFL history. Directing hate at any player for how they conduct their business when it comes to THIS regime is pure wasteful silliness. It’s Jerry…it’s always Jerry.

Jerry could have kept him by paying him. that said, Parsons/his agent was lying when they said “I prefer to be in Dallas”.
September 2Sep 2 And you think the Jones family wants to take a penny less than the maximum they believe they can rape you to get?

So what? That's required in this game. Dak lied to get his extension, started talking about being in a different uniform. What you're missing is greed is the culture set in the organization by the Joneses. Winning on the field isn't important and the players know that. Making money off the field is their idea of winning. So why wouldn't the players follow suit? And how in the hell could you blame them for trying to milk every penny they can out of this organization? You need to take your head out of Jerry's ass and see the reality of this organization Edited September 2Sep 2 by Hermanator

You need to take your head out of Jerry's ass and see the reality of this organization Agreed. Winning hasn't even come to be the focus for this franchise. When you define yourself by net worth or most valuable or whatever monetary accomplishment you seek to accomplish, then this becomes the culture of the organization. With other places, it's about winning. With the Dallas Cowboys, it's about money or monetary worth. That's it. Jerrah has more money then he could hope to spend and more money then 5 generations of his family could hope to spend, but they still want more? Why? Because it's what they equate to success. Monetary accomplishments, not on the field. Folks shouldn't forget this. No organization with a "GM" who has failed constantly and spectacularly for 30 years and kept him employed can really argue they're about winning. Sucks for fans, but the Jones' focus isn't about winning. If that helps the cause, then all the better, but it's not their goal.

Despite all the vitriol between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, the star pass rusher made one last-ditch effort to try and get a deal done. Two days before he was traded to the Green Bay Packers, Parsons had his agent reach out to the Cowboys to try and bury the hatchet, according to ESPN. Parsons' agent David Mulugheta reportedly sent an email to Jerry and Stephen Jones, telling the pair Mulugheta would come to Dallas or hop on a video call to hammer out a deal. Jerry Jones reportedly shut that down, saying Parsons would need to play on his fifth-year option if he stayed with the Cowboys in 2025, per ESPN. Jerry Jones responded to the message, saying the Cowboys were prepping a trade and if Parsons wanted to play in Dallas in 2025, he would have to do so on his fifth-year option. Parsons would become a free agent in 2026, but the team could also use the franchise tag to prevent his departure at that point. The team could use the franchise tag on Parsons twice if he played out his fifth-year option, something Jones indicated multiple times he would do with Parsons. The threat created a scenario where Parsons would have played on three consecutive one-year deals with the Cowboys unless he agreed to a deal Jones believed the pair negotiated during a March meeting in which Mulugheta was not present. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/micah-parsons-reportedly-made-last-ditch-effort-to-sign-extension-with-cowboys-2-days-before-packers-trade-154206342.html
