Team needs to get fired up I can sort of understand when half your non/conf is in the top 10, you might not care much about Rice. But Rice cares a lot
September 3Sep 3 Author I don’t think I’ve ever seen the OH hit the ball to the right of the MB. That was a wrinkle with Stafford hitting basically out of the middle with Bunton the decoy on the left side
September 4Sep 4 Author 13-3 Texas. TO Rice. They called their set 3 TOs with 0 points and 3 points lol
September 4Sep 4 Author Texas wins 3-1. Stanford on Sunday in Moody PS, Gary is going to be an amazing libero next year when Halter is gone. No drop off
September 4Sep 4 Author Stafford 23-2-44 for a cool .477 lol Bunton, Devin, Cari and Ames all north of .333. AVW was the slacker at .231 After only hitting .163 in set 1, Texas went bananas - .424, .516, .407
September 4Sep 4 Fun atmosphere. About 60% longhorn fans. From game perspective, besides first set, lot of fun. Takeaways were Swindle is much taller and more physical in person than I thought. Stanford and Spears hit hard. Bunton is slow and doesn’t get up like everyone else around her.
September 4Sep 4 Author 15 hours ago, Hornbeliever said: Bunton is slow and doesn’t get up like everyone else around her. I think Harvey could displace her by the end of the year - the problem is that she did not come to Texas early, like AVW and Spears did, so Bunton has the leg up on her. She lacks reps, she lacks 6 months in a collegiate strength, conditioning and nutrition program her fellow classmembers got and she didn't have the same time to develop chemistry with Swindle. She's going to have to work extra hard if she wants to start by late October/early November. But she was the #1 MB in her class, so it is not out of the question she could get there if she puts in the work and time. But if there was one thing Bunton was doing well yesterday was being a decoy - Bunton would approach from more of the OH angle/spot and the OH (Stafford) would attack the ball from the middle. I said yesterday that I had not seen that kind of play often from Texas in past years, so I think it is something Hunt and Josephson incorporated from the men's game. Edited September 4Sep 4 by Js1
September 5Sep 5 Yeah I watched Bunton not jump once and setter took advantage of her laziness and scored and then another time with Dev on tandem block, she was good four to five inches lower than Dev. Point being is as impressive as Swindle was in person, Bunton was the opposite.

September 5Sep 5 Author Considering Texas and Stanford are sold out at Moody on Sunday, Texas needs to get an all-star tournament together in 2026 in Moody. Don't feel like we've hosted one since the old school VERT Get Nebraska, Wisconsin, Stanford, Florida and then Pitt or Louisville to come in Texas-Nebraska Wisconsin-Stanford Florida-Pitt/Louisville Texas-Stanford Nebraska-Florida Wisconsin-Pitt/Louisville Texas-Pitt/Louisville Stanford-Nebraska Florida-Wisconsin Don't act that wouldn't generate a bajillion eyeballs and 3 days of Moody being sold out
September 5Sep 5 I'm still pissed at my seats and what was available to the public. I halfway want it to be empty just so I can feel justified in my crankiness.

Gonna guess Kennedy Martin kinda pissed she transferred to Penn State just for her starting setter to quit the 2nd weekend of the season for her mental health Maybe she should have gone to Wisconsin, in hindsight, or stayed at Florida Second season in a row she’s lost her starting setter and had to deal with a JUCO-level replacement. September 6Sep 6 Author CDC was on a football podcast and downplayed how soon we’d see Mini Moody for VB. Talked about other things in the queue, like Schloss wanting some renovations and Mike White “always wanting something” Considering McCombs is one of, if not the, worst venues in the SEC, it should be ahead of Mini Moody for the time being. And baseball is a revenue generator (or at least break even) for Texas Edited September 6Sep 6 by Js1
September 6Sep 6 Excerpts from Statesman article (paywall). Note the logistics of planning for a match at Moody. Quote Jerritt Elliott: Texas volleyball coach fulfills goal at Moody Center Sunday's match also fulfills a goal of Texas coach Jerritt Elliott, who wanted to establish a volleyball presence in the home of the Longhorns’ men and women’s basketball teams. That mission is accomplished. Now, Elliott wants to put on a show for the largest crowd to ever see a volleyball match in Austin as well as the massive broadcast audience craved by ESPN. “We will talk about it just being another match, but I think it for us, it's a great opportunity to showcase our team on a much bigger stage,” Elliott said. “The boosters that are coming, the celebrities that are coming, the media that's going to be around this, being able to sell it out like this. It’s just kind of showcasing where the sports at right now, and it's super exciting Of course, the logistics of organizing a match at Moody Center requires lots of juggling. For one, the University of Texas may own the dirt beneath Moody Center but contracts out with Oak View Group for games and other events. According to the 124-page contract between UT and Oak View Group, the university reserved 60 calendar days each year — the majority being UT men’s and women’s basketball games and UT and high school graduation ceremonies. Scheduling “must be a cooperative endeavor,” but Oak View Group has priority from March through October for concerts and other events. Also, Elliott wanted a premier nonconference match at Moody Center that would draw national attention. Many high-profile programs compete in neutral-site events early in the season, much like Texas did last weekend in Madison, Wisc., against Creighton and Wisconsin Finally, Elliott also said he wanted the match to follow a Texas football home game to take advantage of the thousands of fans that travel to Royal-Memorial Stadium six or seven times a year. “CDC is always very supportive of all my ideas, and he was on board with this,” Elliott said. “The vision was there. It all kind of shows the magnitude of women's volleyball right now, and the growth of it is pretty special” But could that growth include more matches at Moody Center? Yes, said Elliott, but not this season. The Longhorns have already scheduled another nonconference match against Wisconsin next year, but he understands that UT’s contract with Oak View Group limits the opportunities at Moody Center. “We want to get the right opponents, and we like having our home-court advantage at Gregory as well,” he said. https://www.statesman.com/sports/college/longhorns/volleyball/article/longhorns-moody-center-2025-21025241.php

We will surpass it today, and then they’ll surpass it on Halloween - Reed can seat 12,500. I doubt we will sell out that Louisville match at Dickey’s in FW I know Elliot is still gunning for doing something at the American Airlines Center. Needs to either be a tournament or like, Nebraska.
