Jamaal, with a little bit of Ricky and Priest, a sprinkle of Cedric, a touch of Earl, and a dash of Bijan.

And a smidgen of a jumbo Romance.

I was watching his film, seeing all these untouched TD runs, when I thought, "Hmmm...wonder if he can take a hit?  Maybe he dislikes contact?"

Then almost immediately there was a clip of him flying in from LB and planting someone.

Cooper's father told ESPN that the presence of Longhorns running back coach Chad Scott, who replaced former assistant Tashard Choice in February, and the all-purpose role Texas coach Steve Sarkisian laid out for Cooper in the program's offense were leading factors in his son's decision.

"They've talked about his skill set and compared his build to [former UT running back] Bijan Robinson," Corey Cooper told ESPN. "They don't have a running back like Derrek right now. They feel like they can do a lot with him."

Derrek Cooper is the fourth five-star pledge in the Longhorns' 2026 class and continues a summer recruiting tear for the Longhorns, who have added 10 ESPN 300 commits since June 1.

His father said they (Texas) talked about his skill set AND compared his build to Robinson, so a body comparison, not skills comp.

I would say skill set is pretty close to skills comp. But it really doesn't matter, I'm not a coach, and I sure as hell haven't watched his games, so maybe they are close, I dunno. All I care about is he's in our class.

Wow. It is strange how he only took one visit here.

In the graphic above, the Tennessee-looking “T” is supposed to represent us?

(Ok, I see the posts below, he didn’t take an official to us, but he apparently did make an unofficial, maybe two. I may have been thrown off by the intent of the graphic by Dbeasy’s comment.)

It's supposed to represent Tennessee imo.

Anyway, I read somewhere Cooper was at the Georgia at Texas game last fall, then did an unofficial visit in the spring to Austin, but that’s from the internet, so who knows.

No. The point was he didn’t visit us, therefore it’s all about the money.

Good thing it's legal to pay players now. Alabama and Gawja are not the only game in town.

I can see it, but I can really hear it...

After Cooper makes another punishing, soul breaking run to finish another victory, the is a deep rumbling noise from the fans.  Coooooooooooooooooop..... Coooooooooooooooop....(think of Conan the Barbarian where "Doom" is chanted by the faithful.  Welcome aboard Derrek.  I have a feeling you are truly gonna leave a mark. And not just in the back of safety's pant...

I think someone said he was at the Georgia game last year, too. So, maybe twice? Regardless, that's how you get it done.
