July 29Jul 29 Popular Post Starting a thread. We are skipping Columbus because of some serious fuckery that made it make no sense for a large scale event. Home schedule only consists of 6 games this year - Arkansas and TAMU to finish of the season. Tailgates packages will become available soon, you can get a full season for $100 per person. You can pre-buy any single game before the season starts for $25 per person and early bird will be $30 any time in the season. Walk ups are going to be $40 unless they are with a full season pass holder and then they can use your promo code to get in for $25. A season pass will also get you early access and permanently discounted pricing for the away games we are planning to do this year (Gainesville and Athens) Pricing isn't finalized for those, but the season pass will be 25% off, maybe more if the economics work out favorably. We are targeting for away tailgates to be $125-150 per person all inclusive with a food and non alcoholic beverage option for $85 or so. We will have the same spots as the last seasons for home games and larger setups for Arkansas and TAMU. Things are changing slightly and this will not just be the Surly Horns Tailgate - we will change the name to something (open to suggestions), but Surly will be the primary sponsor alongside OnTexasFootball as the media sponsor. We are taking additional sponsors, sponsor packages come with a package of season tickets and you can have swag at the tailgate etc. You will also be able to offer discounted tickets to your customers/associates to get into a tailgate for cheaper. We are already the premier on-campus tailgate outside of Texas Exes, and I expect to continue to grow as we have more regulars and people who plan to attend the watch parties during the games. playback.mp4

I can think of worst things than just pivoting to Burnt Ends for the name if Surly isn't going to be friendly enough.

Name is awesome, plays well with the theme, still family friendly. Also we should serve delicious burnt ends at every tailgate. Make it happen! @immamac
July 30Jul 30 I, along with three old friends from out of state, none of whom ever has seen a game at DKR (they aren't UT grads) likely will be there for the Vandy game. Looking forward to some early morning Surly (or whatever you end up calling it) shenanigans. Edited July 30Jul 30 by dcbc

July 31Jul 31 Anyone going to Starkville? I just picked up two Foundation tickets. Deadline is today. Any insights on accommodations is appreciated. I see a La Quinta for $500 a night which is probably preferred over a $200 Red Roof Inn?

I want to party with you, cowboy. If the two of us together, forget it.

August 6Aug 6 Anyone have an idea of what I should expect in Kentucky? Do I bother trying to find a tailgate?
August 6Aug 6 10 hours ago, GottaB said: Anyone have an idea of what I should expect in Kentucky? Do I bother trying to find a tailgate? I've never been to a football game, but have spent a goodly amount of time on campus for work items. It's a friendly town, lots of good restaurants, fans will be into it but Texas fans will be viewed as interesting or just different. Most hostilities are reserved for Louisville and to a far lower degree Indiana, Florida and Arkansas. If you haven't booked a hotel do it yesterday. Since I haven't been there for football I can't speak to tailgates but I'm asking some UK contacts I have about them. I'll be there and if you want any tips on restaurant, hotels, want to connect or whatever just PM me. If you're a car enthusiast and have time, Blue Ridge Parkway is absolutely worth the time to drive. Just keep the speed down as it is a government revenue producer. If you're a Bourbon guy there are lots of great side trips off the Parkway. I'd say only Cbus is a better town than Lexington as an away trip this year and that's only because Cbus is much larger and more metro with better restaurants. I'm suprised there isn't more interest for the UK game for fans here. The OSU fans take Cbus value down a lot, so I personally think UK is the best road trip this year. Though watching Texas play #2 is a massive reward, particularly if we win. Edited August 6Aug 6 by BurntEyes
August 6Aug 6 I'll be at Kentucky also with about eight others. I've been to one football game there years ago. Tailgate scene was decent. Expect a friendly crowd. I did a quick check and to reserve a tailgate setup from RevelXP is $1200 - the most expensive game of the year. Even more than their Tennessee game. The Texas game is Homecoming and Parents Weekend. Go figure. We plan to go to Kenneland on Friday. Since the game is Saturday night, we are deciding on whether to go to Kenneland again, bourbon trail, or all day tailgate. https://revelxp.com/kentucky-tailgates?selectedEvent=3591&selectedLocation=20 Edited August 6Aug 6 by TxEx84

August 6Aug 6 @TxEx84 I'll be there with an amigo as well. Between you, me and @GottaB sounds like we'll have 12 or so folks. So $100ish per person. If you were open to reserving the spot I'd be open to chipping in $200. Maybe make plans for some grub and drinks? I'm driving in and could bring coolers, canopy and a some chairs. PM me if interested.

August 14Aug 14 Is there a payment portal for buying tickets beyond donations? Thinking this would be a good corporate business development expense for guests coming to the stadium.

All season and individual games with early bird etc will be there.

August 16Aug 16 18 hours ago, immamac said: Yes. Sold completely out for the season already. Secondary market isn't that soft and won't be if they stay #1 Yeah probably right. I used to keep a stack of 11 rice tickets in my truck visor, that went unused and unsold, back when I had a bunch of seats. As that season we did lose I think to Arkansas ironically. 2003. Had to go back and look it up. So yeah no losses might be harder than I think. But I was trying to give away those tickets that sat in my visor to anyone who could do a single pushup... So my perception might be jaded. Sept 6th 11 am kick for SJSU and UTEP at 3:15 on the 13th? Those games might be turkey basting levels of heat? Or Sept 10th is the peak of hurricane season. So the I imagine those will be the best chances to get tix.

August 18Aug 18 OK, got my season pass. A couple buddies are splitting the seat next to me for the season so will usually be bringing one of them along to the tailgate. I'll see if they want to buy their passes early instead of walk-up.

Dude, you need to consider what next year is most likely going to look like. Assuming we rotate to other members of the SEC, we're looking at home games against Ohio State, and some mix of Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina, LSU, Auburn and Alabama. That's going to be a salty home schedule no matter how you dice it.
