August 2Aug 2 I’m not good. But I can hit the ball straight enough to make a scramble doable. work is now making me do marketing things…. which means a lot more golfing. I have always rented clubs for events…. But I feel like I should now buy a set. Whats the best way to get a good set of beginner clubs? The second hand / refurbished Calloway site seems ok I guess. IDK. Figured surly had enough gurus to lead me to the right path. Edited August 2Aug 2 by Dnaguy
August 20Aug 20 I’d just schedule a fitting at Golf Galaxy or PGA Superstore. Tell ‘em your budget and see what they can put together for you. They sell used clubs as well. Otherwise, that Costco Calloway set ain’t bad.

August 21Aug 21 Popular Post Don’t buy used. Golf is meant to be played by overspending and never seeing a return on investment. Don’t break the Universe.
September 29Sep 29 go to a goodwill/thrift store near a nice country club and find a few clubs that feel good. 50 bucks.
October 1Oct 1 Dicks had some sets on sale. Sure, they are cool, but you’d have an excuse for not being good and think it was around $300 with a bag.

October 21Oct 21 The main thing is, whatever set you buy, you need to constantly replace your putter and driver... Because the clubs are the problem... While above is true like a mofo, do something fucking smart and rather than put your money in the new replacement clubs purchase golf lessons. But mainly go get properly fitted! As has been said. If you know what a properly fitted set feel like, you will know instantly if a set "feels right." But if you want to get better, go get lessons, and put your driver in the bag until you can hit it accurately 90% of the time. And ask the pro giving you lessons to make you accurate from 100 yards in. They will practically hug you, as they know that is where most of the important shots are made. And if you can get close from 100 yards in, you give yourself a real chance to one putt a LOT more often. That and get a 60 degree wedge and get confident in the sand. This is what I did to take my low 90's scores to consistent low 80's in about 6 weeks. If you are going to play, a little CORRECT practice goes a long way. Perfecting your shitty swing with a ton of practice, does not help much. Lessons and fitted clubs my friend! Edited October 21Oct 21 by horn4life

December 18Dec 18 I go check out Goodwill pretty regularly to kill time. I haven't played golf in ages, but from what I have seen, somebody could really to cobble together a very decent set of clubs without spending a ton. Just have a good idea about your brands and levels of clubs you're looking for, make sure they aren't borked.

Spoiler I used to have 3 - Ping Anser 2 I picked up about 1978 (my daughter in law lost it on a course 2 years ago...oh well it was my gamer); now I have 2, Scotty Newport 2 it's my gamer, Taylormade Spider Tour Diamond Putter that my wife gave me for Fathers Day because my best friend told her I liked it (it was a joke, that he missed 1000%) - but I can't not carry it because... 95% of rounds I play my Scotty, if I am struggling with the bead the I'll play the Spider and put in more practice, the return to my true north.

As I couldn't stand the years of "I bought that for you" my ex was off a lesbian divorce, talked about us a having a third. she wants to move back in current fling (24ish) told me she wants a 'mom' to punish and spank her, often. i'm guessing that leads to lesbian sex. i also took that as a cue to give her a firm spanking back to important shit ... i'm a super stroke flatso guy since day 1. 2.0 would be perfect for one of my newport2's. love the 3.0 on my scotty phantom
