September 28Sep 28 I’m skeptical if he was the true killer until all the evidence been independently reviewed. Looking forward to press conference tomorrow and hopeful more details will be provided proving he was the murder.
September 29Sep 29 saw this in an article on the press conference. If they have record of all this, then it's him. “Less than 48 hours after the murders, he was stopped by Border Patrol agents,” Jackson said. The agents ran his plates and found that the car driven by Brashers was stolen, and also seized a .380 pistol from him during the stop. However, Brashers fled from the agents. The gun was later released to Brashers’ father. On Jan. 13, 1999, Brashers killed himself with the same handgun. After Brashers died, he was linked to several other murders across the US. during the 1990s, Jackson explained. Jackson also spoke about the initial arrests in the case, the court cases, and how DNA evidence cleared those initial suspects. When he took over the case, Jackson said he reviewed all of the available evidence. He learned that the .380 casing wasn’t entered into an certain national database. Some time after it was added, it was matched to a similar casing found by investigators in a 1998 Kentucky cold case.

Blows my mind up. The single shell casing and the DNA are literally the two most important physical pieces of evidence they had. How does this get overlooked for 34 years.

If they had just stowed it away in an evidence room in El Paso or wherever, he couldn't have used it in the kentucky cold case or the suicide and we'd never know. Edited September 29Sep 29 by dcar00

How does this get overlooked for 34 years. It wasn't overlooked. It was resubmitted and got a new match to another cold case in Kentucky. Quote In June 2025, Detective Jackson determined that a .380 cartridge that was found in a drain at the scene had not been submitted into NIBIN in many years, and software had greatly improved. In July 2025, they received a “hit” to an unsolved 1998 murder in Kentucky. As the cases had similarities, Detective Jackson began working with detectives in Kentucky to determine whether there were more similarities. https://www.austintexas.gov/news/significant-breakthrough-made-1991-i-cant-believe-its-yogurt-murders

I'd like to see things like the casing comparison, the original docs from El paso and suicide showing the same number. maybe they have the .380 but I would have assumed they would have already done a ballistics test to compare bullets lands/grooves(if they have a bullet from the yogurt shop).
September 30Sep 30 I saw on Reddit that there is an episode of Evil Lives Here about this POS from 2021. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15500092/

Sounds like an overlook to me. Would love to know what year the Kentucky PD uploaded their info. Again - only 2 key pieces of physical evidence exist in this case. How one of those wasn't being comprehensively revisited on an annual basis is insane to me. This is the most famous unsolved murder case in modern APD history. Wtf.

Wtf. yep. many years probably means since 1992 but would be interesting to know when they last ran it. easy cover "we can't say 33 years, we can't say few or number, what do we do?" "Let's say many"
September 30Sep 30 Quote Our reality doesn't change. After today, our families are still too small. Still missing an essential ingredient. And we are lesser for it. We have been robbed of a life with nieces and nephews, and grandchildren, and with sisters to grow old with. This sort of mindless violence continues to steal from all of us. I don't yet know how this information is going to change my life. But what I learned about myself in the past two days is that my brain was split into two. One part of my brain has been screaming, 'What happened to my sister?' And the other part kept repeating, 'I will never know, I will die not knowing and I have to be OK with that.' On Saturday, those two parts of my brain started melting into each other. I realized how much energy I had used to keep them separate and to convince myself that I was OK not knowing. A few weeks ago, a reporter asked me, 'Do you think this will ever be solved?' And I didn't skip a beat. I said, 'I can't think about that. I will lose my mind if I think about that. I have to focus on my work, helping my clients and my groups, as a therapist.' But now I can have both. I know now what happened. And that does ease my suffering. And I can continue to pass on all the kindnesses that have been shown to me over the decades and hope that I can ease the suffering of others. Thank you so much. Just an amazing quote from Sonora Thomas.

These dudes were just idiot potheads who had no history of violence. They did not seem like guys who were savvy enough to get away with something like this. This was a crime committed by someone who probably had experience doing it. The police insistence that they had the right guys is fuckin shameful. Well, whaddya know. It was a mature, serial violent offender and not the teenage potheads from the creek. There is new DNA testing happening in the West Memphis Three case. Hope we get some answers there next.
