August 25Aug 25 based on the above I could see JT, Morikawa, Griffin, McNealy, Young, Cantlay if Keegan decides not to go with himself. I would rather have Keegan and Burns over McNealy or Griffin though. Burns has been putting great and you need that desperately. I just don't see Keegan leaving both of them out.
August 25Aug 25 I’m already on record on the thread. There’s one spot (Keegan isn’t playing) and it’s probably going to be Harman because they won’t take another rookie after Spaun and Cam

Yeah, I wish Griffin and McNealy weren't ranked as high. Xander & Cantlay are good partners. Burns has experience needed for Ryder Cup. Young being from that area is hard to leave off this US Team. I would definitely leave Harman off this team too. If I were Keegan, I wouldn't play.

August 25Aug 25 Thomas, Morikawa, Griffin, Young, Cantlay.... shit I don't know, normally no brainer would be Brooksie, but he sucks shit through a straw these days. So I guess go with McNealy? That's a lot of first timers. But maybe that's what we need.
August 25Aug 25 Word on the ground in Atlanta seemed to be he’s picking himself over Griffin. Collin has been bad and for some reason seems to be getting a pass. Edited August 25Aug 25 by 4th&Five
August 26Aug 26 Looking at Euro team again: 1. McIlory 2. McIntyre 3. Fleetwood 4. Rose 5. Rasmus Hojgaard 6. Hatton ____________ Assumed Captain's Picks: 7. Rahm 8. Aberg 9. Lowry 10. Hovland 11. Straka 12. ???? I'm assuming Straka is in even with his recent struggles. Matthew Fitzpatrick makes sense but has a pretty awful Ryder Cup record so far. Marco Penge or Harry Hall? Stacked team, regardless.

JT Morikawa Patrick Cantlay Cameron Young Ben Griffin Maverick McNealy Keegan Bradley Sam Burns Who else is a real possibility? Thomas and Morikawa should be locks. I would take Cantlay as well - a lot of experience and a good record in int'l events. Wouldn't hate any of Harman, Young or Burns but wouldn't be excited about any of them. Griffin, McNealy and Novak would all be wild cards. I know that Griffin and McNealy are the next 2 after JT and Collin but I wouldn't lose any sleep if they were left off. Keegan needs to figure out if he wants to play but frankly if he wasn't captaining I think I'd prefer him over any of the 6 I just listed. If anyone I didn't just list makes the team Keegan is on drugs.

No one below him deserves his spot and he's above everyone but the autos and JT. He's played in 4 straight cups for us and is above .500 in the Ryder and has an even better record in the President's. Also played some amateur cups for the US.
August 26Aug 26 Morikawa is in primarily with his 2024 performance, he isn't to 25 on his second half of 2025 performance. I will not be disappointed if he is not picked.

August 26Aug 26 I keep going back to “Keegan isn’t going to take a bunch of rookies.” Spaun and Henley are auto picks so they have to go. If you take Cam Young there’s another, though he was on the 2022 Pres Cup team and there’s a ton of course fit with him. Cantlay and Burns have a lot of US team experience, Mav and Griffin have none.
August 26Aug 26 1 hour ago, 4th&Five said: Right, that’s how he’ll justify picking himself. He really doesn't have to justify anything, his play this year put him in position to be a captain pick. If he wasn't the captain, he would be a lock to be picked. It is only his role as Captain that makes it a more difficult pick.
August 26Aug 26 Feels like things are trending for Keegan to pick himself based off reports/gossip on Golf Twitter.
August 26Aug 26 Yeah, I think Harman is out. Right now it feels like JT, Morikawa, Keegan, Cantlay, Burns and....either Ben Griffin or Cam Young

August 26Aug 26 Author So much for a surprise??? SAM BURNS a crucial element in Ryder Cup selection involves potential pairings for the foursomes and fourballs formats. Regarding that, Burns is a close friend and frequent practice partner of Scottie Scheffler.
August 27Aug 27 13 hours ago, MrX said: Burns isn’t a surprise at all. It is somewhat but he's been putting great so it is a smart pick, especially for foursomes.
August 27Aug 27 Author Watch Keegan Bradley's U.S. Ryder Cup captain's picks Today Bradley will be at the Home of the PGA of America in Frisco where he will announce his picks live on Golf Channel as well as the Ryder Cup YouTube channel, RyderCup.com and the official @RyderCup USA Social channels. There will be coverage on SiriusXM Radio Channel 92 as well. The scheduled start time for the announcement is 11 a.m. ET.
August 27Aug 27 Well, no real surprises other than (I guess) Keegan isn’t playing and Griffin is on the team. Let’s rock.
August 27Aug 27 With how disappointed Keegan was about not being picked by Zach in 2023, you have to give him mad props for doing what’s best for the team. Now let’s go kick some ass!
August 27Aug 27 Let’s hope that Thomas being on the team lights a competitive fire under Spieth to get his shit together next year, giving how close they are.
August 27Aug 27 42 minutes ago, 4th&Five said: All things considered I think that’s the best team he could have picked. yeah, I'm sure it was a coin flip between Griffin and McNealy since he couldn't deny Young if he wasn't going to pick himself. Harman and Nowak never had a chance. Morikawa better bring it. X needs to play like the number 3 US player. I give us a 3 in 10 chance of winning this thing but that isn't Keegan's fault.
August 27Aug 27 About the best picks he could have made, IMO. Thomas, Cantlay, Morikawa aren't having their best years, but they're our top remaining players for RC. Griffin and Young both playing really well right now and seem to have good mental toughness (see Griffin's bounce back on the final round at the BMW). To me the final spot was between Burns and Bradley, and I think Bradley made the right call taking the focus off himself. You don't want to be the first playing captain in 60+ years and then shit the bed. Quite frankly, I'm not sure we should ever see another one at this point.

August 27Aug 27 I know the playing captain thing would have been cool. The problem is that was when the US just had to pretty much show up with 12 breathing golfers and beat GB&I and Palmer was the leading money winner that year. Totally different scenario now.

August 27Aug 27 Ha. Burns had the second most birdies on tour this year also. Big deal in match play.
August 27Aug 27 37 minutes ago, LTtxfan said: Wonder how Maverick McNealy is taking not being selected??? McNealy should be happy just being considered. The Ryder Cup ranking system was really his only argument. Dude has won 1 tournament in his career (2024) and never had a top 20 finish at a major.
August 27Aug 27 I’ll take the home team every time until we see a team go on the road and win. FanDuel has the US at -130
August 27Aug 27 54 minutes ago, 4th&Five said: Ha. Burns had the second most birdies on tour this year also. Big deal in match play. Good stuff there. #1 in SG putting this year. He's also the only US Ryder Cup player who's shot under 69 in his last 10 rounds (Scottie shot under 70 his last 21 rounds).
August 27Aug 27 Keegan Bradley will be on with the Ticket in Dallas around 5:50 PM tonight (Wednesday)
August 27Aug 27 Team USA is doomed, going to be embarrassing to lose at Bethpage. Dark days ahead, the point of argument will be that Keegan should have played.

August 28Aug 28 I like the US chances. Home soil is everything in this. Only a single total collapse has let the road team win since 2004 (and also look up the Hal Sutton debacle in ‘04. Yikes).
