November 2Nov 2 Also potential chaos out there. Not all of it will happen but any of it could happen: Bama loses the Iron Bowl and then the CCG. MSU upsets Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl. A&M loses to UT and Mizzou or SC (shudder).

With hotels, flights, potentially car rentals, meals and game tickets going to these games on the road is an absolute financial beating. I had to pick last year and chose the SEC champ game and saved for the potential championship game. This year, due to financials, it would only be the championship game. Beyond that, the loss revenues for the schools that goes to another city some other entities etc is a massive loss. There is not reason for the first and quarter finals to be on the road for both teams other than no longer relevant historical ties. And fuck giving Jerrah Jones more money.

For reasons I can't clearly define, I've always had a soft spot for GT and this year they are definitely my underdog favorite. So...biases are likely. So, I guess for me in an overrated conference with several media darlings Pitt and GT are the teams I like. I don't think Virginia is as good as their record indicates, and their record came against pretty crappy teams as you noted. Struggling against North Carolina, going to OT vs FSU and also losing to NSCU does not a terrific resume make. However, I do prefer them over the pomp and circumstance that is the fraud of Miami.

I know that it’s not like the football guys are on campus doing Real Genius shit but the idea is fun for the kids playing school to rack up some wins. I can barely keep up with everything but part of what makes Vandy so easy to hate this year is having a bitch made 30 year old Baker Mayfield type leading the charge. anyways, I usually root for GT as well, curious if that whole vibe will go away with nil

Hence why I'm pulling for Pitt and GT with no hate for Virginia just a reality check they aren't good. I think Louisville might be the best team. I also hate grossly over hyped media darlings. (Please note I say this will full knowledge and recognition that Texas is often one of these) Miami has always been a particular axe to grind, blame the 90 Cotton Bowl if you like.

Texas is SEC Iowa this year is the analog many talking heads have used to either justify the premise that Texas is overranked or that Iowa should be ranked. I do think Iowa is a lot better than recent vintages, but that’s because I’ve actually gotten to watch them. They play their standard great defense and special teams, but the offense is developing into being fully competent. They didn’t look like that at the beginning of the season. The Wetjen dude is really fun to watch, also.
November 2Nov 2 Author USC thrashed Michigan and has a stronger SoS, yet Michigan is ranked ahead of them. We thrashed blOU and have a stronger SoS, yet blOU is ranked ahead of us. This is bullshit.

November 2Nov 2 Iowa is ranked, @The Dog. I’d have dropped GaTech a bit further. Louisville is a better team. Healthy and on a neutral field, I like Texas and OU over Tech and BYU both. Virgina is in no way a top ten team but has a gaudy record. The SEC really is that much deeper than every other league. Every ranked SEC team is likely boat racing the ACC and Big XII. November 2Nov 2 I’m bullish on ND. I’m open to dropping them but you’ve got to show me who behind them is better. Healthy OU and Texas playing well give them a game. ND is much better than Virginia. They’re better coached and have a better roster than BYU or Tech. Miami isn’t a shitty team: Carson Beck is a streaky and inconsistent QB. When he plays well they are good enough to stay on the field with the entire top ten. That loss to Miami breaking in a new QB on the road wasn’t a bad one.
November 2Nov 2 ND is ranked 10 at 6-2 . Miami who best them is ranked 18 at 6-2 Their best win is against unranked USC , of course they look good playing against crap teams

It's pretty much the same for most of the top 12 or so. Mississippi State was close to beating Tennessee and us. Vanderbilt is a solid team. LSU sucks. Florida? Who the fuck knows for sure? Georgia? I had no idea that they'd revived Jan. 1 as a spectacular college football day. A million years ago it was so fun following the games to figure out who would win the MNC. ETA: I read years ago that the bowl games would be so much better attended if they were held on one of the team's campuses. The lesser bowls are scams where teams accepting the invitations must guarantee ticket sales. The suggestion was to offer half the tickets in the home stadium to the visiting fans to lessen the home field advantage. The empty stadiums for bowl games makes it feel like they're playing in a mausoleum. Edited November 2Nov 2 by RomaVicta

Because losing former will have an adverse affect on the latter. And we would be sitting pretty right now at 8-1 with all of our early flaws, to be able to take advantage of our seasonal growth and winning 2 of our last 3 would virtually guarantee us a spot instead of being a bubble team.
November 2Nov 2 OU is going to get waxed by Bama in 2 weeks anyway making all of this moot if we keep winning. Simpson is not making the horrible plays that Aguilar did that kept OU in the game.
