Man, it’s rare that I agree with the first post out of the gate in threads like these, but I can’t think of any other films that clearly top these for me.

I’ve watched My Cousin Vinny 112 times.

Lol. This was on the other day, and I couldn't change the channel. Now my 8 year old walks around the house saying

"I <clap> DENTICAL!"

I agree with several of the above, and I'll add the "...Has Fallen" trilogy.  It's a guilty pleasure and I can't seem to change the channel when it comes on.

Also Top Gun Maverick.

And Shooter.

As bad as they are, the fast and furious movies always grab my attention

Any of the Back to the Future Trilogy

Apocalypse Now- any edition

Animal House-I was at the 40 Acres when it came out, and I laughed so hard my wife got embarrassed and moved across the theater.  I think I knew all those characters.

Fargo
Shawshank
A Few Good Men
Pride and Prejudice
Wind River
Best in Show
Dumb and Dumber
Beaches
Double Jeopardy
Glengarry Glen Ross
Napoleon Dynamite
I, Tonya
Addams Family Values
Jack Reacher
Masterminds (no idea why)

y'all really still just flip around channel surfing huh?

What else are you going to do during the commercials?

Day After Tomorrow.
Oceans 11

grandmas boy

happy Gilmore

office space

Armageddon

the internship

Is it weird if my answer is none? Like if I'm going to watch a movie then I have already planned to do it. Chalk it up to streaming I guess, but I'm never just bumping channels and see that ____ just started on HBO and then I sit down and watch it.

(And I would never watch a movie on TNT or any other station with commercials.)

Hahaha. It’s so bad that whenever either my wife and I say “identical”, in any social situation, we stop, look at each other, and go “I - (clap) DENTICAL!”  It’s ridiculous.

It’s an interesting question given how many of us don’t have cable anymore.

AMC plays The Fugitive all the time. BBC America plays A Few Good Men a couple times a week. Both are good stop and watch’s.

In a vacuum, give me Forrest Gump.

Heat

Princess Bride

Spinal Tarp (RIP LT Hookstratten)

Coming to America

Trading Places

Major League

Red October

Lebowski

Home Alone and begrudgingly the sequel

BTTF/2/3

Yes, now get off my fucking lawn. My first choice is to channel surf the premium channels and only after striking out there check the streaming services. I like finding movies on the premium channels that I wouldn’t have come across on my own. I’ll always watch if on:

Scarface

American Gangster

Godfather I & II

Goodfellas

Casino

Departed

Pulp Fiction

Usual Suspects

Ace Ventura Pet Detective I & II

Happy Gilmore & Billy Madison

Big Lebowski
Tombstone

Heat

In the Name of the Father

There Will Be Blood

Se7en

Fight Club

Rounders

Edited by Macklemore

Many of those already mentioned, but I didn’t see Rocky mentioned, the original. That one’s always a stop-down for me.

Full Metal Jacket and Step Bothers, too.

Edited by Dutch

Raiders of the Lost Ark. its not my favorite movie and I never set out to watch it, but if I’m flipping around and it’s on, ill watch it every time

Edited by The Dude

Dazed and Confused

Young Frankenstein

Battleground

Godfather 1 & 2

buddy Holly story

american Graffiti

fast times at ridgemont high

walk the Line

Bernie

honeysuckle rose

heart like a wheel

dr strangelove

raising Arizona or almost any Coen bros movie

Jojo Rabbit every time it’s on for me. I don’t get to sit down often to watch movies at home, but that is the movie for me.

Predator

I saw that movie several times as a kid, but I didn’t like how the predator looked. Sometimes I just can’t watch a movie based on something like that. The more I learn about myself and being neurodivergent the more I understand why I don’t take to certain movies.

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade; and many of those already listed

Some war movies:

They Were Expendable

Best Years of Our Lives

Battleground

Bataan

Some space movies:

Apollo 13

Marooned

The Martian

A couple Chevy Chase comedies I haven't seen mentioned:

The original "Vacation" and "Funny Farm"

Apollo 13

Tombstone

Stepbrothers

Dumb and Dumber

Caligula

Vacation (original)

Airplane

The Longest Day

Yes.  I will watch all of the FaTF except for Tokyo Drift.  Too unrealistic

This is also why I won’t watch Prometheus or first wives club

The Prestige

Master and Commander

Just got the latter on 4K and plan on showing it to my kids this weekend.

Found another one -- The Descendants. I love everything about this movie despite the somber tone through much of it.
