October 31Oct 31 PSJA North beat CC Flour Bluff in a battle of undefeated teams last night, 19-10. PSJAN has a never ending stream of freshman and sophomores playing on varsity every year it seems, which has been key to their recent run of success that started in 2021. Can we get a 4th playoff weekend from the Valley? It's sub-6A. Hopefully a chance.
October 31Oct 31 I have said it before, I hate how the UIL splits 1A-5A districts by division. Do it like 6A and then split your playoff teams in to the D-1/D-2. I think the way it’s done now creates more travel logistics issues than enrollment disparity issues.

In 6A I don’t think Los Fresnos has the players in the trenches to get it done. Granted SA football outside of Johnson and Harlan is terrible this year. Edinburg Economedes is actually 9-0 for the first time ever with a prolific rushing attack but I don’t really see them putting up a challenge to a more athletic team.

Chris Steinbruck kept it rolling with several good playoff runs and bumped up to superintendent after the '23 season. His replacement Clynt Elwood is 20-3 at this point in season 2 so the sucking seems to be behind them. Edited October 31Oct 31 by Dennis Taylor

I think the way it’s done now creates more travel logistics issues than enrollment disparity issues. It does, especially west of I35. However, it never made much sense for schools to be playing other schools in the district with 2X the enrollment, that is with the exception of schools who opt up. Take out the divisions within each classification and in 4A it's almost triple. I'm cool with the increased number of divisions now, mostly for that reason. If we were worried about being fiscally responsible, hell, football likely wouldn't even exist for UIL competition. Here are the numbers for the last realignment in Feb 2024. 2A Division I 181.5 - 253 103 schools 2A Division II 105 - 181.4 103 schools 3A Division I 369 - 544 101 schools 3A Division II 254 - 368 100 schools 4A Division I 957 - 1314 106 schools 4A Division II 545 - 956 94 schools 5A Division I 1903 - 2274 128 schools 5A Division II 1315 - 1902 122 schools

November 1Nov 1 The population sign during the time I lived in the area was like 425 for Montgomery. In 2020 its pop was 1948. sheeeeeeeeeeit. Those city limits had to be the size of a football field. When we first moved to the area in the early 2000's MHS was 4A( now 5A.) Now they have MHS and Lake Creek that both compete in 5A. And down the road you have Magnolia with what feels like a 50 mile city limits range. I swear it seems like half the trip from The Woodlands to Austin is just getting through that town.
November 1Nov 1 North Shore beat CE King 42-27. I have no details, but holding King with their tremendous team speed to just 27 points seems like a good accomplishment.

Every now and then I'll spot a small herd chewing up a neighbor's flower beds early in the morning but that's probably a once or twice a year kind of thing.

November 7Nov 7 Aledo up 35-0 7min left in first half against Denton High. Streak will pause at 135 until next season and will likely be on the line at some point next season against some strong 6A competition.
November 7Nov 7 TWCP won 43-3 against New Caney to finish the regular season at a perfect 10-0. Our top WR didn't play last night, no idea why. That's concerning heading into the playoffs.

November 8Nov 8 Good news for all us TWCP Cavalier fans. Julian Cromartie sat out last night's game with a sore ankle but will be 100% ready for the playoffs. He got his ankle twisted pretty bad in the game against TWHS but came back and caught 3 TD passes for over 130 yards, played the next week for a little bit against Cleveland. I guess the staff wasn't going to take any chances going into the playoffs in a game we wound up winning by 40 points without him.
