August 9Aug 9 With a lot of lower leagues started or starting this weekend time to start this thread up. I know England has already had a few match days in League 1 and down. The EFL Championship kicked off yesterday. Not sure about the rest of Europe. I figured this is a good catch all, if you want to start league specific threads go for it

August 14Aug 14 Just watched the highlights from PSG v Tottenham. On PKs, just kick the fucking ball. Stop with the stutter-step.

August 14Aug 14 Ligue 1 starts tomorrow You can go ahead and crown PSG, but it'll be fun to watch Paris FC in their first year in the top division in 46 years (and the only team outside of PSG from Paris in a loooong time). They'll play this year at Stade Jean-Bouin which is literally right next door to PSG On January 4th they play @ PSG and then they'll host PSG on the last day of the year. That should be a pretty interesting crowd to see.
September 3Sep 3 Need some help from the surly hivemind: we're doing a family trip to Rome in December. My parents (in their 70s), my son (17 years old), and I want to go to a Roma match at Stadio Olimpico. Is there anything I need to know before going? I see some good seats on stubhub. Is it just as easy as buying them and downloading the tickets like I would for an American sporting event? My parents are still very spry and active. They go to every LSU home football game (and several away games) so they're used to stadium walks, stairs, big crowds, etc. Is there anything I should be concerned about with them and accessibility?
September 4Sep 4 I've been to matches in Milan and Florence. I wouldn't trust StubHub unless something changed this year. Both times I bought directly through the team's website. You have to enter the names of people and show ID with your ticket. My drivers License worked both times. I would go here to buy tickets. https://www.asroma.com/en/tickets/ As for accessibility, I haven't been to a match in Rome, but San Siro in Milan and the stadium in Florence are much closer to what stadiums were like in US in the 1970s. Seats are extremely small, if you are over 6' be prepared to be jammed in. Concourses are tiny and the concessions are sh!t. But the matches are a must do if you like soccer or really just sports in general.
September 4Sep 4 Just took a look at the Roma Ticket site, it is really nice. It has a great seat picker, I'd suggest looking for aisle and potentially the last row in a section. I sat at the top of San Siro and was happy, because I could stand up and was jammed it.
September 7Sep 7 guess this is a place to discuss fifa qualifiers? just having fun watching spain beat up on turkey.
September 8Sep 8 interesting WC qualifier... Belarus being sanctioned for supporting Russia v. Ukraine . Being punished by playing their game v. Scotland in an empty stadium in Hungary.
September 8Sep 8 the italy v. Israel gane is off the rails. Italy scored 7 goals, but unfortunately two of them were own goals. Is 5-4 with about 5 min in stoppage time remaining
September 9Sep 9 Iceland up on France 1-0 until Mbappe scored a PK in first half stoppage time leaving it tied 1-1.
September 26Sep 26 Kane and Mbappe are amazing goal scorers but the amount of penalty goals their teams get seems excessive. Kane has 6 penalties so far this season and Mbappe has 4.
October 9Oct 9 anyone watching England v. Wales? already 2-0 at 11 minutes. Edited October 9Oct 9 by beer
October 9Oct 9 Author 3-0 at 25' But why are these teams playing a Friendly? Ins't their WC Qualifying? Oh, these teams are both in 5 team groups and this is their "bye" game. In this 2 game window both have a single qualifier. Edited October 9Oct 9 by Captain Ron
October 14Oct 14 back again, 7 qualifiers starting now, Spain v. Bulgaria and England v. Latvia, guessing neither will be close.

November 13Nov 13 guess this is where we would talk about UEFA qualifiers if anyone were up and watching? England v. Serbia tonight. watching Norway Estonia (nil nil) snd Armenia Hungary (Hungary up by 1) . Iceland not on DAZN here for sone reason
November 13Nov 13 Sørloth with 2 goals for Norway so far. Haaland scored the orher 2, now 4-1 Edited November 13Nov 13 by beer
November 14Nov 14 Malta just scored on Finland with 9 min to go, now 1-nil. I feel like nobody around here cares though.
November 15Nov 15 that sounded a bit critical and whiney now that I read it. I meant it more in a "Tiawanese cow patty tossing is not a sport followed by many in the shagasphere" kind of way. Absolute shit day in Spain, what is this...did I accidentally move to Scotland? So its Kazakhstan v. Belgium early this afternoon, Spain should secure its spot v. Georgia later and the other big ones tonight should be Greece v. Scotland and Sweden v. Swiss . Then its nap time to prep for the other georgia defeat.
November 15Nov 15 Kazakhstan, is that wrong? distracted watching 2 games with spain easily leading Edited November 15Nov 15 by beer

November 16Nov 16 video not available in europe, I'll figure it out in a minute. Iceland v. Ukraine just started, its the only relevant/deciding match at 6pm edit...VPN to US fixed it, hellova finish Edited November 16Nov 16 by beer
November 16Nov 16 Damn is happening again. Iceland is on to the playoffs with a tie or better. Ukraine has to win. With less than 10 minutes remaining Ukraine puts together a string of like 6 serious shots on goal and finally scored one. edit: Ukraine scored a second goal with under 2 minutes remaining in added time. Edited November 16Nov 16 by beer
November 16Nov 16 this is badass: especially considering he’s a cornerback and was unlikely to touch the ball. love that he planned that.

November 17Nov 17 England, France, Croatia, Norway, and Portugal have qualified. Germany and Holland should qualify today, and Spain, Belgium, and Switzerland should qualify tomorrow. Austria vs Bosnia and Denmark vs Scotland tomorrow for the last two outright qualifiers. Bosnia and Scotland have to win while Austria and Denmark just have to not lose. Edited November 17Nov 17 by HenryJames
November 17Nov 17 tonight's game Lux v. N Ireland is suppose is overall pointless. N Ireland is already in, Luxembourg can't get in. ever apparently. and germany is not a shoe-in, right? is Slovakia wins they're in right? Edited November 17Nov 17 by beer
