August 9Aug 9 On ESPN+ (via Hulu) Is freaking great. I am a huge Big Mac fan (since his days as a Bash Brother), and this show made me love Sammy Sosa too. yeah, they were juicing. Don’t even care. They saved baseball. I hope they do one about Bonds’ 73 HR season. Maybe they can rehabilitate Bonds image somewhat. (98 was a hell of a year with Ricky winning the Heisman) Edited August 9Aug 9 by lilMAC25

Words really can’t describe it. put a giant asterisk on their accomplishments, I don’t care… they deserve HOF status. Edited August 9Aug 9 by lilMAC25
August 9Aug 9 Author You CANNOT tell the story of baseball without the Home Run Chase of 98. Bud Selig and the rest of baseball’s “ruling class” knew (hundreds of) these guys were using PEDS. There was no question.
August 9Aug 9 That was such a fun time. Baseball dominated all talk at dinner, family get togethers, freaking everything. It makes me miss my grandpa thinking about it

Working 80-90 hr weeks trying to keep people on ECMO alive, i guess. built a house and lost my dad since then. Was bored of Tacoma FD (FARVAAAAAA) last night and found this on Hulu. I think younger generations don't really have a problem with him and are fairly enamored with how good he was. The most recent fun stat I heard was that you could go 2/5 with a homer and a single every single game of the season and wind up shy of Bonds' 2004 OPS.

August 10Aug 10 That math only works if every game is one single, 1 home run, no walks, and 5 abs. That would be 1.400 OPS. Mix in some doubles and walks- especially walks since they take ABs away and those are the denominator for both stats that make up OPS.

Obviously it isn't realistic. Think about it this way: you could post 162 homers and 324 hits in one season and not match his OPS.
August 10Aug 10 Or you could walk or hbp in your only PA and have an infinite obp which means an infinite ops.

August 10Aug 10 I remember reading Lupica's book about Mac and Sammy's chase of Maris my freshman year(2000). Such a great time to be a baseball fan.

August 12Aug 12 I was in middle school during this. They resurrected baseball after the strike and had people following the game who normally didn't. Such a fun time. Put them all in the HOF. They deserve it just on talent alone but even further than that, what they did for the game.
