I remember when conservatives were against big government control. Good times.

Now, conservatives are gimps for trump.

First step is to stop calling those people conservatives. Never were.

Which I guess is polite.  You want to clean up your face after gobbling that much authoritarian crank.

Man, my old man to get a John Birch society mailer, which at the time I thought was cool. I have awakened since then.   There are two parties.  One is a facist piece of shit. Don’t vote for that.

Nah, I have a feeling this is about prevent large protests in D.C. in the future.  He can talk about crime, talk about the homeless, but I'm guessing he will do something that will get a lot of people marching on D.C., and this is his way of making sure that doesn't happen.

Yes, it could be a distraction from the Epstein stuff, but I doubt it.  This has been coming.  L.A. was a trial run to see what court challenges might arise.

I spent  a bunch of time figuring out what Pete Seegers banjo said, even though I knew what Woodys guitar said.  Here ya go.  image.jpeg.0aa7d75844846a3a002293d5b9fcfe6a.jpeg

I agree, but they think they are. That’s how they refer to themselves. I wanted to call out those folks, the ones whose many lies to themselves include thinking they are conservative.

Thing is what you have to understand, the term conservative means preserving the status quo.  That’s why you have to stop right there. Fuck that.

I've been to DC every 10 or so years, plus or minus, since 1989.  It seems cleaner and safer every time I visit, but I've never felt unsafe there.

I was there in May.  Nice streets, clean subways, fewer homeless than I remembered.  Such an absence of homeless folks that I thought that they must have built shelters or housing somewhere and wondered if Austin should be following whatever they are doing.  The DC Metro was in better shape than Seattle's Link stations, which are much newer.

I walked around the Mall at night with my family and found nothing more than other families doing the same thing, having a great time exploring the monuments.

Washington National Airport is historic but sucks, but at least their train goes all the way to both airports.

It's just a team name now. It doesn't actually mean anything.

here's my guess ....

take over as many cities as you can before the election enabling them to run heavy election interference

single site voting would be a much easier way to secure voter safety

heavy ice presence to check all non whites

Not only that, I know some who voted for this. The fucking hypocrisy is sickening.

Trump is gonna send the homeless in any city he has a property to the nearby suburbs.   Will be one of the great leopard feasts.

Trump says he would host a contest for the public to design and then build “Freedom Cities” on a small portion of federal land to “reopen the frontier, reignite American imagination, and give hundreds of thousands of young people and other people, all hardworking families, a new shot at home ownership and in fact, the American Dream.”

22 year District resident checking in.

I am very curious what he's going to do with the homeless.  There are a lot of them and there always have been, especially if you know where to look.  If he moves them somewhere, my guess is  a tent city somewhere in Manassas, perhaps one of the old battlefields.

For the record, crime is much, much lower that when I moved here.  There was a spike in the last couple of years with some carjackings and some other bullshit, but for the most part, this a much safer city than it was when I moved here in 2003 and my opinion is this is a big power grab.  I guess we will see what happens.

I lived in the area in the 80s when the Redskins last won a Super Bowl.  It was pretty bad back then and It is a pretty safe city now.  Sure you run into homeless and mentally challenged but that is in all US Cities.

So what, no representation.  Despite a population larger than Wyoming and Vermont, DC has no Senate or voting House member representation.  DC population is on Par with Alaska and Delaware.

Oh, it sounds like Martial Law.  Why is no-one calling it Martial Law?

there's nothing normal about the national guard deployment in DC under these circumstances, nothing close to normal at all.

Oh, it's very normal.  If you're reading the right history books.  Normal, expected, 100% according to the script/playbook.  Not even a minor deviation from that playbook, it's spot-on.

Then the Irish.

I keep saying he’s missing a prime opportunity to reopen Ellis Island. Just this time, y’know, bring em in through the back door and out the front

Historically speaking, failure to prosecute a fascist insurrection attempt all but guarantees that they'll return and gain power and never let it go again until many many people have died. I've been posting about it for the better part of five years now and people have finally stopped telling me I'm being alarmist or that I'm suffering from """TDS""".

The craziest thing is that this is just the president following through with what he said he was going to do. "Freedom cities" is from 2023! Project 2025 has been pretty much pitch-perfect execution so far.

I feel like he'd be a little more relatable if he'd take that engine cover off and back on just one or two more times.

But no - we were gaslit for an entire year that nothing he said he was going to do or Project 2025 was true.  It was just election talk

And the media didn't report on any of it.
