Who are the (positive) difference makers on our team?

Who would start for every team in the conference (or compete for time in the case of all-conference guys being ahead of them)?

Ingram, LJH, Johnson (maybe), Vahe (maybe)

Roach (at DE), Sterns, Boyd, Foster (maybe)

Anybody else?

But I still think we have enough talent to be better than what we have been... I think there are some guys who should be better... obviously.

Lmao at Vahe being a difference maker.  He’s started here for 4 years bc we’ve had shit talent on the OL.  Easy to beat out guys like Terrell Cuny.  He wouldn’t start at half the other shitty schools in our conference let alone be a difference maker.

Vahe?
Yeah no
So.... we've had backups at OG for 4 years, and nobody even challenges now... if so, we are not going to win.

Ingram, LJH, Johnson
Sterns, Boyd, Jones
Yea, I meant to add Jones ahead of Foster.

Vahe lol

not sure id consider Johnson as much of a difference maker either. He’s frustratingly absent much of the tome.

Man I really thought we would see Hager on this list but he has been quiet these past two games. He’s even been a liability at times when he pushes upfield past the play

You guys that listed Johnson, which one? Both Collin and Gary have a chance to make their mark, so far this year they've both just been ok..

Top row seems to be offense, so Collin.

He just doesn't seem to be much of a football player, or hasn't been taught to be one.

I’m glad you qualified “difference makers” in the op. Makes the list much shorter for those willing to indulge. 😎

I’m not seeing it with Roach and Boyd.  Boyd is a liability as often as he is a difference maker.  Roach just doesn’t have the length or quicks.

Pretty sad when you get real with this list.

I read your “ok” as “shitty”

Roach is playing out of position and WTF at the Boyd comment. He's been making NFL plays anytime someone's tested his side.

Recommendation: Porter

Reason: he makes a difference (contributing to the utter clusterfuck that is our offense)

Based on play so far.         LJH and Brandon Jones

I guess I am still traumatized by his bad looking PI against Maryland.

Can't believe I'm first to say this, but it's not even close.  Tom Herman wins top honors.  Reason:  Personnel Selection, both on the field and in the booth.  He has made a significant and immediate impact.

The biggest deficiency of playmakers on this team is at qb(duh). Somehow, someway we need to find a real difference maker to line up behind center. So sad that we are in such a talent poor state that this seems to be an impossible task .

Not shitty, but not difference makers either.

Every team needs a difference maker to lift the entire team on both sides of the ball. Right now, none have really emerged on offense. Defense, there are 3 candidates. Gary, B. Jones, and Sterns (yes, a true freshman). If Ingram can get the majority of touches, and the coaches let the offense flow through him with some bullish runs by Sam, we can be decent. Failing that...we will continue to look like football fucking monkeys. Losing Ingram to injury right now is just the worst. So fucking annoying.

Add Caden Sterns who won best player award for Tulsa game.

Agree.....

Watch Cosmi, cause he had a great game run blocking versus Tulsa

He (Collin Johnson) is absolutely not a difference maker. He can be if he chooses to be, but he isnt.

Don't forget Foster, that was one of the most athletic interceptions I've seen at any level..

Everyone was calling Jones a bust after 2 seasons and Boyd after 1, almost like being a junior matters

Old tradition on these boards going back their creation. Every single DB at DBU has been flayed alive, written off as busts, with posters questioning why Mack / Charlie / Herman ever gave scholarships to underclassmen Huff / the Griffins / Ross / Vaccaro / everyone not named Earl Thomas (the only exception).

Sad but true.

On offense? Ingram and Humphrey...or I guess Humphrey this week. Everybody else looks pretty meh to alright.

I'm glad you clarified positive.  I've got several nominations for negative...

All the ones who won’t be in the game when it’s on the line in the 4th quarter.......   From what we have seen last year and this year, pretty much.

Offense: Ingram. He gon be good.

defense: B Jones . Best defensive player (difference maker )imo.

We have a top-flight hydration program

LJH, Boyd, Roach (he is being woefully underutilized and I feel like Orlando is getting a pass), are the three guys I think could see the field damn near anywhere. I bet a Saban or a Patterson would love to have those guys. A few iffy guys after that. Jury out on Jones, C and G Johnson. Chris Nelson is solid but not spectacular.

Watson and Ingram are both good. So is LJH. Young ain't bad either.
Sam and Shane would start for a lot of teams.
No standouts on the OL or at TE so far.

Hager is good but he needs support.
Don't know about any other defenders since our DL is bringing the quality down. The freshmen DBs are good.

CJ will get drafted in round 3 or 4 and become a top 10 receiver in the NFL within 3 years.  The NFL pundits will be shocked he’s that good and wonder why he wasn’t dominant at Texas.

Based on what?

Brandon Jones not going down on punts if the coaching staff can handle it.

Based on a trend for physically gifted players that don’t develop here but who blossom under an NFL coaching staff.
