There are a lot of guys that carry Honda run quiet generators and ac units. That and an expar heater works fine.

The Honda generators are treated as disposable. When they break or quit working you just buy another one. Much cheaper than the continued maintenance on a apu

9’ 9” wide. Lol

They make us work our way up to bigger loads. Main O/D guy isn’t back until next week. I’m going to talk to him and see if I can get bumped up a couple of steps due to experience. My former dispatcher said I can use him as a reference to verify my past experience.

How much better does the over dimensional pay?   Would be nice to get the smaller od loads, like the one above.  Especially if it pays significantly better.

Wish you would have been in MI the other day. Had to get something to AL.

I’ve hauled better paying legal loads. Small stuff like this isn’t a big difference in pay.

There was 15’ 8” wide load that I wanted and it paid nearly double what I normally haul for.

man your truck looks really good

I like how they did the headlights

even that trailer looks good all the shit on it is new

Why didn't they build a cradle and angle that?

South Austin's mom does the same thing.

At less than 10’ you probably don’t have shit for escorts or maybe even permits? Probably cheaper not too? Man I forgot all of that fast.  6 months out and can’t remember any of the specifics (which was the goal). That said, I was usually working with things 20’+ wide.

I mean it's good for Drifter, oversize rate. But it would have been cheaper overall to build a cradle. They probably have a lot more money than I do.

No escorts. But I’m permitted for
PA MD WV VA TN GA AL MS LA TX

if I was just taking this across texas I probably would have outlawed it.

One of my last projects we were running some modules from PA to south Texas.  That shit was a BEATING.  But ALOT wider and was tall too.  By about the 5th one, we had it going pretty good.  Moved something like 25 of them.  I just remember we had escorts for several states, but not others, and were constantly having to pick them up and drop them off.  The permitting was all auto-issue type stuff, except for PA, iirc.  No real issues with the permits, it was coordinating all the other bullshit that was the hassle.  And there wasn't much money in that one, and were all on old ass Broshuis' that kept having issues.

drifter, you ever watch Highway Thru Hell on Weather Channel? Why is every single fucking driver involved in a wreck Indian (dot)/Pakistani/etc? Never see any white Canadians.

I’ve never seen it but Sikhs are a huge portion of the trucking industry. I saw an article last week that I can’t find said up to 60% of Canadian trucks were Sikh.
So I think it’s not so much they are bad drivers, it’s a numbers thing.

Clearly I had never given a single thought to the makeup of the Canadian trucking industry, but there was a marathon on this weekend so I watched a bunch of episodes. It was crazy never seeing any Canuck whiteys in the ditch.

Great drinking show by the way, don’t exactly have to pay rapt attention.

No CR.

Unfortunately there are a lot of inbred mouth breathers in this industry that call them rag heads implying that they are Muslim. The ignorance is staggering. What most people don’t realize is that the Sikh and Punjabi trucking groups are some of the most organized and active in fighting against overbearing regulations and for improvements for the drivers.

I’ve met and talked with several of them and they are pretty amazing people. The story of their people and the history of their struggles is fascinating. They are a true warrior class that does what it takes to insure their survival. And their community bonds and support are unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Tldr: Sikh’s are cool.

Sikhs are badass. I’ve met a handful through work. We’ve had guys joke about them being suicide bombers and I tell them, “Nah, they probably hate Muslims more than you.”

And if they weren’t so nice and generally peaceful they’d cut your throat and leave you bleeding in a ditch. Lol

Hidden under one of their trucks.

I missed going to a Sikh wedding due to timing. I was bummed. My buddy (Sikh) posts videos from weddings he has gone to. They look like a blast. And yes, their sense of community is amazing. Oh, and yes, my buddy has a sword.

I’ve has several Sikh clients.  Freaking love those people.  Warm and generous.  And their history as badass soldiers is amazing.

One of my favorite shows. I have no idea why.

I was surprised to see in the googles that Sikhs make up less than 2% of India given how many you see in US truck stops.

Ain't been to Canada.

Hope you stay out of this storm. It looks like a pita.

Loading in cincy this morning and headed south to Alabama.

As far as I know all the pics of my old truck are gone (thanks to ex #3), but one of the hairiest rides I had was right after I bought the truck and wasn't quite sure what I got myself into. The truck was a 1974 Freightliner with a 290 Cummins built up to a 350. I was heading from Port of Catoosa, Ok to Montrose, Co and chose US50.  Rookie mistake because I had to cross Montrose Pass. Thought I melted everything on the way up, then prayed my Jake brakes kept me from running away on the way into town.

NM or UT? (FWIW out West is my happy place, too)

Somewhere on I8 in NM or Arizona headed to San Diego.

Should be a nice day in San Diego tomorrow.

A 290 if I recall correctly, had the turbo but not the aftercooler?

It was basically the same engine as a small cam 350, but shorter stroke. You swap out rods, pistons, injectors and drill some extra oil ports. Not sure about the aftercooler. Thought 290's came with them. I know 250's didn't.  I'm not a mechanic and have only been told that's the procedure. Kinda like a Chevy 305/350 upgrade.

yeah, that cam thing rings a bell. I remember the "big cam" 400 Cummins being a very desirable engine back in the 80's

Friend of my dad's had an old freightliner COE with a 250 cummins.  He had the pump turned up so much that it shot flames out the stacks on a steep grade.

drifter, are you headed to the port?  If you're headed to somewhere in North County, I'll buy you a cup of coffee tomorrow.

And if you're on 8, you aren't in NM.

It and Cat 3406 were very desirable. You could turn the Cummins up pretty easily just swapping pump buttons.

This.

3406 was a good engine.  We had a 1693 and it was trash.   I used to drive a little Bobtail Ford with a 3208/Roadranger combo and it was really solid.

Common problem. Those were bulldozer engines they tried to make work for highway use. They sucked. Buddy of mine had one and it was broke down about as much as it was running. Had a lot of head problems.

1 head.  1.

Cummins had 3 for most models.  K model had 6.  That Cat, you needed a fucking crane to R/R the head.

I honestly don’t remember where I took the pic. It was somewhere between El Paso and the golden acorn casino in CA. I was lost in the scenery, listening to Terry Allen and Tom Russell, flying across the desert.

I’ve got can-ams out of El Paso with a stop in San Diego and a stop in Ontario.

I would really enjoy meeting up with folks from the board any time I’m in your area.

Blast your horns when you hit the Gopher Canyon exit on 15 dude.
