I never paid attention to this when first posted, but isn’t the “latest” list offered in the article a Forbes list from 2019?

The Volswire article is from yesterday, but as UTEE posted, the data seems to be a few years old. Why the Vols dude decided the old news was worthy of a new article, who knows.

Latest FORBES most valuable program rankings are out.  A&M and Texas #1 and #2.

How is Clemson #25 after so much success? How is Arkansas more valuable than USC?

Probably the biggest single differentiator in there, after TV revenue, is sales of licensed products. Texas is at a disadvantage on TV revenue compared to SEC schools, so is USC and the rest of the PAC12.  After that, it's sales of licensed stuff.

USC just isn't that big a brand, anymore, if it ever was.  Clemson never was.  Arkansas has the SEC head start, plus they sell a lot of gear to all the arkies.

Also, the Forbes list cited, that makes up the bulk of the article, is from 2019 and averages the prior three years.

I guess the headline provides the reasoning, that because of the shakeups in realignment, they wanted to take a look at the various schools' financial value and viability.  But since the data's so old, it's really not particularly illuminating.

Paging @Randolph Duke to decipher and debunk this ranking.

Generally speaking, the more valuable teams are able to generate sufficient revenues to meet expenses.
