Why the stupid fucking thread title?

Because I get to pick them and I think Gaelic is neat

So you fell in love with a Galway girl?

Pretty cool still from that Hawai'i video the OP posted. Always love seeing the cheerleader riding the surfboard as the team enters the stadium.

Also, even though it's due to total ineptitude, it is a pretty cool opportunity to see the games at that tiny field for the next few years.

The fact that Hawaii football exists makes me happy.  I wish Alaska had a D1 program too.

I think I'm now sold on a game vs Notre Dame in Ireland. Fall temps, room temp Guiness, and Dublin history.

Sounds like a great trip

The travel logistics behind Iowa State-Kansas State college football game in Ireland

The 1,083-line spreadsheet accounts for everything including practice and game-day equipment, ball driers, different outfit combinations for Iowa State coach Matt Campbell, medical supplies, Band-Aids, headsets, the exact serial numbers for the iPads they're bringing, Frank's Red Hot Sauce and Sweet Baby Ray's barbeque sauce.

Sweet Baby Ray's is made out of sugar and liquid smoke.  It's disgusting.

These are people from Iowa and Kansas. How enlightened do you really think their tastebuds are?

I'm going with that it's all for Campbell and is another reason to not like him.

I like how some staffer has to dress Campbell - how hard is a pair of ill-fitting khakis, Nikes and an ISU polo

One game tomorrow is kinda like a woman just showing a little thigh.  Then we wait for a 5-day tease to get to see the rest.

Actually there's 5, but only 1 is a banger

And you will watch/follow all 5 and be grateful for it, mister!

I'm talking about Iowa, but it's the same temp in Ireland.

Last year on this weekend it was 90 and humid.

Oh, I thought you were in Dublin for the game.

KU - Fresno State, Stanford - Hawaii, and SHSU - WKU all have some decent little storylines around them and could potentially be pretty close.

Sucks we don't have an all-FBS mid-afternoon game to watch.

Need these in ETX in August.

Giving the players those hurling bats is bold:

Cool it's basically a bowl game atmosphere with all the festivities

Except that the results count in conference standings.  Gotta feel for those coaches trying to keep their guys focused.

No.  Too much going on back here.

Getting up early to smoke some egg casseroles on the pellet grill.

That's the whitest sentence I've read in a long time.

The schedule for tomorrow is annoying.

ISU/KSU at 11? Great that feels like a good 11AM game.

The other three FBS vs FBS games? Oh, we're going to put them all on at relatively the same time. I don't hate watching FCS games in the afternoon, but come on get it together networks.

Fresno State/Kansas 5:30

Sam Houston/Western Kentucky 6:00

Stanford/Hawaii 6:30

Can't even give us a late start for a game in Hawaii.

Game in Ireland is tomorrow morning right? Guess I will crack open a beer and try to get back into a football mood.

Offseason seemed to fly by this year.

It’s like Christmas morning!  The offseason is over, boys! Finally, CFB is back!

I like Iowa State to win as well as Kansas and Hawaii. I haven't looked at Stanford's schedule but I've generally just assumed that they're going 0-12 unless they've lowered themselves to playing FCS schools like most of the rest of the pussies in FBS.

I should go to Vegas. Or Lake Charles. Maybe I’ll go to Lake Charles.

My brother and his wife just returned from a month in Ireland.  They rode the train from Donegal to Dublin with all the Donegal fans who were playing Kerry in the Gaelic Football Championship.  Lots of singing and drinking.  When they detrained in Dublin the entire city was awash with fans from all over the country.  They had to purchase something at a pharmacy and when they told the pharmacist about their train ride, she looked up and in dead earnestness said,
"Kerry is comin."

This will cement what may be the prevailing opinion on a Texas board regarding Sweet Baby Ray's, but the primary guy who developed the recipe (along with his brother, apparently) did so in Wisconsin.

They were native Chicagoans but the main brother, Larry Raymond, was head chef at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, when he created the sauce and placed second in Mike Royko's Ribfest in Chicago in 1985.

By all accounts was a down-to-earth guy who started a couple of restaurants in the Wausau area after he sold his sauce businesses. Died in Tomahawk, WI, just four years ago. Had an indirect Texas connection in that he was head chef at Nieman-Marcus' Zodiac Restaurant in Northbrook, IL, before moving to Wisconsin. Big Bears fan, of course.

On to Week 1 games. Hope everybody has some good BBQ this season.
