Gamescom '25 started out with confirmation that Silksong is finally releasing this year.

Developers are streaming a "special announcement" tomorrow, which is widely expected to be an official release date.

For the uninitiated, Silksong is the sequel to Hollow Knight, one of the most successful and beloved indie games of all time, developed by a team of just 3 guys in Australia. It originally was planned as a DLC expansion to HK, but the developers raised a ton of Kickstarter money and decided to make it a full sequel. That was in 2019. A teaser trailer was released back in 2022, and since then there has been almost complete radio silence from the developers.  The rabid fanbase would get their hopes up for news at every single gaming convention, Nintendo direct showcase, Xbox Showcase...etc. and always be left disappointed. R/silksong has close to 175K members posting daily and it eventually became a meme that Silksong was simply a mass-delusion that didn't actually exist.

Nice. Price was released and it's only gonna be $20, which will likely be an absolute steal. Hollow Knight was easily 40+ hours of content and I imagine Silksong will be at least as big.
