I took my daughters to the Circus Maximus iMax show in SA last Sunday and got that fleeting feeling of touching "great dad" status when I looked over at both of them during Between Two Points and there were tears rolling down each of their cheeks.

I'll never let go of that moment.

I’m sure there are endless reasons, as with any lifetime, but it sure feels like Roger was responsible for quite a bit of the musicianship getting sucked out of Rick and Nick as Floyd broke big.

Funny idea. And I was bored enough...

Roger hates everything that's not Roger.  The dude is an amazing lyricist and that's really about it.

Otherwise he's a miserable, narcissistic wanker of the highest order.

A Brit friend of mine, also a Floyd fan described him succinctly thus:  "A deeply, deeply insecure twat."

Yup.

Gilmour is concerned only with being great.

Waters is concerned with whether or not you and I think he's great.

loved in the beato interview when gilmour was talking about the comfortably numb solo...not thinking about the fans' expectations, plays it how he feels it and it's fun every time. such the opposite of waters.

I remember when we had the PF thread on the shag. You couldn't criticize RW without summoning his choir. That choir got a lot smaller with the move to Surly and now they are silent. Man has proven himself to be a complete cunt.

Just got a big OLED TV, watching Pompeii 4k on YouTube rt now.  Holy crap, it looks fantastic.

the gilmour live album from the last tour came out today. just fired it up, sounds good.

Yes it does.  As usual I like it even better than the studio version.

Like clockwork.

Roger Waters On the Day Pink Floyd Split and Why David Gilmour Has Never Forgiven Him | tribuune.

In this emotional and revealing reflection, Roger Waters looks back on the day Pink Floyd came to an end — and the creative and personal tensions that led to his long-running rift with David Gilmour. Roger speaks candidly about the pressure following the success of The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, how artistic differences tore the band apart, and why he ultimately walked away. He also opens up about his regrets, his pride in what they created together, and why the wounds between him and Gilmour have never fully healed. From the making of The Wall and Animals to the lawsuit over the Pink Floyd name, this is a raw and honest look at one of rock’s most complex relationships — told by the man who lived it. “I was the dominant one, yes — but it was never about ego. It was about the work.” — Roger Waters

No kidding.  What an absolute load of horseshit.

Had my friend and his hippie, rave hand dancing wife over the other night for dinner when my Circus Maximus BluRay came in.  Broke out one of the laser units, some laser gloves (for her), and a little smoke machine to see what would happen.  Kinda worked ---

It is by far my favorite of all the solo stuff he's done.  So much depth of sound and lyrics.  I can't stay on one song as my favorite either.  One second it's Scattered, then Between Two Points, then it flips to Luck & Strange and so on.  It's the first live show where I have found myself kinda waiting through the old PF songs anticipating one of the new ones coming next.  It was usually the other way around in the past.

FYI the Pink Floyd youtube channel is running a WYWH 50 weekend, playing stuff off the new box set, right now they're playing the early instrumental version of Shine On, great stuff

By the way, bootlegs came out years ago of some rough mixes, these are NOT on the box set, and are really interesting

And in case you want more, here are the Animals demos that came out at the same time
