October 14, 20187 yr No, just for the games he played in as a Freshman. That's what I meant. The quoted record isn't for the first half of the freshman year, but for all of it.

October 14, 20187 yr I thought he had his best game of the season. Not saying much (I have been pretty hard on Wheeler in game threads) but he didn't seem lost or slow yesterday. I'll look closer on rewatch.
October 14, 20187 yr Sterns is such a great football player. I don’t think he has crazy measurables or anything athletically but man he just gets it done. I do hope he becomes a more solid tackler but you can’t ask for much more than he’s given this team.

Yeah that and Sterns missing tackles Until the INT I thought he actually played his poorest game of the year. Now, not sure why we were scheming him as a dime back. Seems like Orlando was asking a bit much.

He was about a half step behind some of the Baylor WRs on some of the shallow routes they threw.
October 14, 20187 yr Sterns was really bad against OU. Our defense was pretty awesome yesterday as a whole, with the exception of 2 or 3 drives. I can't envision Sterns or anyone really having a worse game against Baylor than they did against OU or Maryland. Edited October 14, 20187 yr by Tired of Lurking
October 14, 20187 yr He's up there with Rondale Moore of Purdue as one of the best true freshmen in CFB this year,Well, that's just like your opinion man../ejholland

Definitely had no idea where the ball was since he never turned around, then managed to jump 4" off the ground when he realized the WR was going up to make the catch. October 16, 20187 yr Caden's struggles against blOU are more than excusable. blOU has ridiculous team speed which led to a lot of the bad angles Sterns took, he's still a true freshman and probably never saw anything like it in HS.

And definitely had no idea where the ball was since he never turned around. So glad Caden is here to clean up messes. GIF is misleading. It was cover 2, Davis was in trail, watched the ball get thrown, then turned to play the WR. He side-steps OOB right before the gif starts to avoid colliding with Caden (which is why he is ackwardly reaching back in inside while running OOB). Edited October 16, 20187 yr by JBJ

October 28, 20187 yr I'm gonna slow way down on this dude now. It's been pretty ugly lately. He'll get a lot better, but starting to look like a freshman.
October 28, 20187 yr the entire team looks like shit. Literally the entire fucking team - maybe with the exception of Sam and GJ. Herman did a masterful job getting these guys ready for this game.
October 28, 20187 yr He's usually pretty good at playing balls in the air. I didn't see them throw anywhere near him last night, so that's some respect. With that said, he's had problems tackling in space, and last night i saw #7 miss a lot of tackles.
October 29, 20187 yr Sterns hit the freshman wall, hard. The tweet I posted about Sterns playing the most snaps of any true freshman in the country seems relevant.

I think Sterns roll be fine though, and potentially much better than fine. (and better than KV as well)
November 3, 20187 yr Lets pump the breaks, kid has gotten fucking torched all year long Edited November 3, 20187 yr by Texas25
November 3, 20187 yr He can’t tackle and getting beat deep in 2 minutes is not an experience thing. He’s talented but still a true frosh.
November 3, 20187 yr he had one good game vs. TCU where he won the game, true, against a TCU QB that was eventually benched later in the year. The D is very lost and confused, hard to measure the true measure of any player with a bad DC.

November 3, 20187 yr He was out of position for 3 TDs today. Also played terrible last game. I think he will be a stud but he played terrible today. He cannot get beat on that last TD. No matter what. Let them complete everything in front of you. You cannot get beat there. That's on the coaches too.
November 3, 20187 yr Brandon Jones was out, Sterns was probably asked to do more and responded like a true freshmen. Why the fuck you people love to build up and immediately tear down every player is beyond me. Lest we forget Sam was absolute garbage last year and everyone wanted someone else at QB

He may have been asked to do too much for a frosh, but he sure as hell should know how to fucking tackle. And he sure as hell should have known not to let the receiver get behind him at the end of the game.
November 3, 20187 yr As usual for most defensive players, he has regressed markedly as the season (and years for upperclassmen) go on. I'm fucking tired of this shit. EVERY other fucking university's players improve, you know, like they're supposed to.| Ours look like they make a ubie and head back towards the fucking birth canal. It's been like this for 10 years. Look at our draft record. Go to Texas and get shitty. What the fuck is going on in this fucking universe???????????????
