Awesome run for Anisimova. Sabalenka is a goddamned buzz saw. A very sultry buzz saw.

Shitshow getting into Arther Ashe. Minutes before first serve and thousands queued up outside, trying to get in.

Sinned looks like he's warming up with his hitting partner.

Double match point now.

Alcaraz is redefining the men’s game. Sinner is as well and they’ll alternate winning a whole bunch of slams and lesser tournaments. Hard to believe I sat out there at Arthur Ashe three years ago until the late hours watching his round of 16 match against 2014 Champion Marin Cilic. That he is so dominant at age 22 is just ridiculous. He and Sinner have the chance to rewrite the record books with how far ahead they are of anyone else.

I watched the last set & a half on a plane. (Didn’t see any of the match before that.)

Sinner seemed off. Whether he was sick or injured, I don’t know. But he didn’t look like himself from the finals in the first three majors this year.

These two kids are pretty good.

It’s so hard to predict with tennis, because not even 15 years ago, it was thought of to be unfathomable to win 20 slams, and now 3 guys have done it. Think of all the legends from the 1960s to the early 2000s that never came close to winning 20 slams. In 2002, Sampras’ 14 slams were thought to be an unbreakable record.

in theory, having 2 guys winning all the slams for the next decade+ as opposed to 3 would mean they’ll both have 25+ slams before they retire. Odds are still that neither of them will achieve those numbers because historically each generation has new challengers that will begin winning titles. In the case with Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, they were so good that the generation behind them (players born in the 90s)never threatened to win slams (aside from Thiem and Medvedev who each won 1).

If Sincaraz can stave off their own generation + the next generation, then they will break the “Big 3” records, but there’s such a long road ahead before having that discussion

What I see transpiring is that the elite talent on the top end of the sport keeps getting smaller. When I was a kid there were more players capable of winning a major. There is a dearth of these guys now. Could someone else come along and break up the monopoly these two have on the sport? Sure. Has that person turned pro yet? Honestly I am not certain that person is on tour yet. Injuries are always the things that give other guys a chance. With Alcaraz I had no background on who he was the first time I watched a match of his in Rio in 2022. It was one of those moments where you just know this guy is different. Sinner is in that same vein. Watched him practice a couple of years ago ant the US Open and he is just so impossibly long and fluid in his movements.

It would be cool to see more top flight competition on the men’s side, but who that player or players will be I just don’t know. I feel confident in saying it won’t be Shelton.

2) What is Baris?

yeah, basically what shadow op said. i used to hype up baris on the old site, it became a thing. then ivy snow showed up to shaggy, and one night i ended up at her house eating baris and posted about it here as a flex (lol). “im at this cam girl’s house and im plowing…this extra large baris pizza.” lol. shit does slam though.
