She irritated it again in one of the exhibitions

Thank you.   Was she starting otherwise or off the bench like last year.

Honestly don’t remember if she started or came off the bench in the 2 exhibitions

14 for Crump, 11 for Booker, 10 for Lee, 8 for Preston

Carlton's a decent backup, but I want to like her game more than I actually do. Hoping she'll step it up against our better opponents this year.

I really don’t like the fouling, but that should get cleaned up after a few games as the team adjusts to playing defense against live competition

6 players in double figures, led by Lee’s 21 (3-5 from deep). Also chipped in 4 assists, 5 boards and 2 steals

123-51

Good? Balanced scoring. 7 threes. 14-17 from the line. Doubled them up in rebounds

Bad? UIW shot 32 free throws

Out on a limb … but, I think Crump will be OK.

With Crump, Lee and Booker we've got some very good outside shooters which should really open up the offense.

Also no one on the injured list.

It's going to be a great year.

Another really good double header today:

Tennessee-NCST, 3pm, ESPN2

UConn-Louisville, 4:30, ESPN

I know the opponent sucked, but it was great to see Preston (7-10, 16 pts) and Lee (9-14, 3-5, 21 pts) looking to score. That wasn't either of their MOs last season.

Both hit career highs last night. (and Crump, but duh)

Crump I thought was outstanding. I realize she wasn't facing anyone elite, but for it being her first game as a freshman on a highly ranked team, she looked both capable and comfortable.

Those games against Canada, PR and Brazil helped a lot to get acclimated to Vic’s rotations and coaching and playing competition much older than herself

Texas took 78 shots yesterday

I don't think we can expect 73% of our shots to come from the guards all season long, but Vic made a concerted effort not to just throw it in to the big girl and let our guards get comfortable, confident and in rhythm

PG - 9-13 (Harmon and Preston)
SG - 10-17 (Lee and Prenter)
SF - 13-27 (Crump and Booker)
PF - 5-7 (Sidberry and Carlton)
C - 14-14 (Cunningham and Oldacre)

She just retired this year. Good for her. She was my mentor for like 1.5 years. She really is a nice lady off the court and has great stories. I wonder if her partner retired as well because that was the only way I saw her getting off the court. She was asked to take over the SEC and ACC multiple times and said no.

Welp, there goes 100+ games that just opened up for women’s refs!

There's been some good 1st couple day action (UConn-Louisville, Tennessee-NCST, Duke-Baylor), but there's not a lot the rest of the week

Friday - Texas hosts #24 Richmond in their first ranked non-conf matchup of the season.  Richmond is one of the top non-P4 teams
Sunday - UConn hosts Florida State and NCST and Southern Cal go at it in the only ranked on ranked matchups of the day

Richmond has never beaten a top 25 opponent in program history, but they are ranked #24. Interesting choice by the AP but whatever helps our resume we'll take it

This team's ability and will to apply pressure minute after minute hopefully help as we get into SEC play. Worked great last night. Richmond is a solid team, though losing a starter to injury early I suppose made them easier to defend all over the court. Not every opponent will be as easy to guard, but you have to like what you see from our D so far.
