  • Our defense played their asses off. Giving up 14 points and two yards a play despite zero help from the offense is a day’s work.

Honestly are we that irate about this game? True road game against an elite defense and only lost by a touchdown and held them to 14? I'd be more pissed if we were in mid-season and Arch is still maki

Fuck that shit. They ran for 2.3 yards a carry. They got 240 yards total offense. They couldn’t close out the game when they needed to.

I'm glad Bama lost to an unranked FSU lulz. At least we competed against a top 3 team, even if we looked like hammered dog shit on offense.

FSU looked pretty fucking good.

I haven't even gotten a chance to watch and yet I can confidently say this is wrong lol

Stop using Heisman and Arch in the same sentence unless it's a joke. Let's just hope he doesn't cost us games outright in Gainesville and Dallas.

He created that OL issue by recruiting lazily. He fired a lot of defensive staff but avoided the elephant in the room until he was forced to.
Revisionist history, Sark will need to make some tough decisions and not get complacent. Didn’t he learn anything from Saban, lol.

I don't pretend to know which assistants, if any, require dismissal. Sark isn't Saban though. Indeed, because of Saban, he believes in 2nd chances. Whether that compromises his objectivity is subject to debate.

As for Mack and the OL, I don't know how much of it was recruiting vs the OL coach and likewise, the fat S&C coach. But those two were at least question marks to me. But I think poor QB performance from Garrett Gilbert and onward were due to mismanagement. And no small part of that was lack of a running game and poor blocking in both pass-pro and rushing.

Might want to look that up.

Me, as Arch is about to take the snap: "No no no no no no fuck no fuck no!!"

I hoped it would be that nifty snap between the legs they did last time. That would have scored.

I saw a bit of it, but Bama also looked pedestrian. I don't believe either of these teams are very good. I think Bama will bounce back, but that's still a black eye for DeBoer. Bama fans have to be getting to the point of being humbled at this point.

yeah, I think they are well-coached, and are trending back to their blue-blood status.  They are a playoff team.

It started with Texas deep throating them at home 2 years ago.

There is no list by any dolt ever that includes FSU in any Blue Bloods list.

Quite a bit of criticism for Klubnik in last years opener.

The game was decided with Arch never being comfortable at all. His throws seemed like" oh shit he's open, I got to throw it now” and he wasn't set. Then it sailed or was short. His mechanics were just straight ass. I think Sark needed to slow it down for him but everything was seemed super vanilla on watching it live. I liked the running game. Littleton is going to be a baller. Some silly penalties at sucky times. I can give today a mulligan and get into a groove the next weeks.

Besides Arch’s poor mechanics and bad throws, the most disappointing thing is seeing Arch sitting on the bench by himself every time we are on defense.

Why is there not a coach with him with screenshots of alignments and plays talking to him, settling him down, getting him to focus on the fundamentals, the little things that yield positive results?

I know Sark is busy managing the game, but there is no reason for Arch to not be talking to somebody the whole damn game.

Seeing those piss poor side arm throws all daylong was frustrating as hell.

Where the fuck is his QB coach?

The fucking crazy thing is his poor mechanics. I watched “the film guy” episode on Arch recently and he raved about his footwork and how he connected his lower body to his upper body. It’s on film! It’s almost as if he completely forgot how to play qb.

Arch is Chris Simms.  We are in for a disappointing season.  Accept it now and you will be happier.

Arch today was Garrett Gilbert. Simms threw dimes, sometimes to the other team, but they were frozen ropes. Arch was inaccurate and didnt see the field well.

Who gives a shit about making a 12 team playoff. This team needs to be able to beat the top 4 teams for anything to matter. Making a 12 team playoff is a participation trophy.

The team needs to run jumbo and get one yard when necessary. Just like last year. They fix that and the dumbass penalties and they will have a great shot. I suppose Arch can only get better.

I remember reading when Sark first got here that philosophically, he is opposed to mobile quarterbacks. Will he be able to maximally utilize that aspect of Arch’s game?

This will ultimately be his undoing.  he will fail if he doesn't employ a QB run game.  Everything for the D and DC is easier if you only have to account for 10 players.

This. Wasn't even on my bingo card that Arch would struggle making basic throws. So strange.

Mechanics break down when you’re scared shitless. He was nervous out there. We’ll see if that changes when he settles down this month.

JFC, you have to make the playoff to win anything. That's why you give a shit.

Liberty U can make the playoffs, that doesn't mean shit. Having the talent to defeat the top 4 teams is what matters, not a fucking playoff spot.

This is on the whole team. When Arch threw within the hands of receivers, they dropped the ball. Play calling was trash. Defense made costly penalties that could have changed the game. Receivers ran shit routes and dropped balls. Also - a few of Arch’s early passes were off because he was hit or run into.

Sark has work to do. The game was sloppy.

I also don't really understand yesterday posts being judged for yesterday content and feelings. I don't really care about the rest of the season in the frame of reference of yesterday.

A win there, even an ugly one is completely different mentally than a loss. Ohio State played well enough to win, but Texas didn't. That's the story of yesterday - I don't think we got to see the best of either team and that's okay this early in the season. It changes things though, mentally and emotionally. There's a difference in a room where a team wins and people stay to celebrate and one where the game is over no one has to close a tab and a bar empties out in less than 5 minutes.

That same thing happens to the players. Wanting to get out of their pads and get out of Ohio as soon as possible. Having the "ick" on them after a game like that. It wasn't a hold your head high and be proud game, it was an "oh shit we need to really find out who we are don't we" game.

That sucks in the moment. It will always suck as a memory. In the framing of an entire season does dropping an ooc game 1 against another top team a big deal? No and there's merit in arguing that, but let's not be quick to tell people to get over it or not be overreactionary over yesterday. I think the response has been tempered so far without any huge meltdowns.

I didn't get to read the whole thread during the game but I'm also surprised I didn't see a lot of @closetojumping tags when Livingston caught his TD, I actually thought about it in real life as I exclaimed "White lightning!!" At the bar and took off running around. Haha

That was my first thought too regarding CTJ lol. That’s when I knew he may really be our best wr this year lmao and he has to deal with it.

But yeah yesterday was a mixed bag. It was the first game and it’s not like we got blown out. Ohio state looked a tad bit better but we set the bar really low. IF we do turn the corner, this game was needed. No way we needed to be #1 all year trying to hold that spot and the insane hype on arch. The team needs this in order to grow. The concerning thing was arch, though. He needs to get better and make basic throws. If this is who he is, you can kiss the playoffs goodbye. He has 3 weeks to “practice”.

On the 4th and goal that was stuffed, I don’t necessarily think it was that bad. Ohio state scored there first TD by going for it on 4th down so how could you not? All last year we talked about pulling ewers so arch could run it in that situation. We also aren’t the eagles so just run it straight up.

I just hope we don’t turn into penn state, never beating good teams. We’ve gotten this end of the game so many times. Played horrible all day then get close, have a chance to win it and can’t do it. The only time we actually won a close game was Arizona state.

Such an ugly game on offense. Manning looking nervous for 3Q. Texas skill players looking exceptionally jaggy. I can’t imagine many people were in the mood to even mess with CTJ

Serious question, at what point does CDC call him into his office and force him to hire an OC?

I do think Sark is maxed out as a HC (calling plays)

I'm gonna guess that CDC is and has been gently prodding Sark about these issues.  That seems to be the way he rolls.  No ultimatums or anything.  "Steve, have you thought about  . . ?"

I'm hoping someone out there cashed in on Livingston catching a TD for +450.  We'll never see those odds again.

Eh, sort of. Problems in the game:

1-10. Arch's accuracy.

11.  Receiver separation

12. Redzone play calling

13. Penalties

If Arch hits the broadside of a barn, this a fairly comfortable win and nothing else seems like a big deal.
