Cool.  You talk shit or wanna bet some money?  UT in Dallas and 10 points.

That’s really fucking tempting. But alas I don’t gamble on Texas sports as a hard and fast rule, I already have enough anxiety just wanting the W.

Patricia may be a doofus and a horrible HC and OC but there’s nothing that says he was a horrible DC.  He’s had a year and has shit down the best offenses in the NFL.  He knows Sark well

The line will be down to 5 or less by kickoff. So no, it's not at all tempting.

Watched on one of the sports shows how Patricia schemed coverages that confused Arch.  Impressive stuff.

Texas plus 10? Or did I read that wrong? I’m not a gambler so I don’t know all the lingo.

Yes, ESPN supposedly broke down in detail how he changed coverages and scheme post snap. This confused the heck out of Arch and Sark and is why there were receivers running open that he didn’t see. I don’t know much about Patricia but she definitely prepared a very good defensive game plan for Texas.

Ah yeah that wording is confusing. But a few posts back OU +10 was mentioned.

Which is hilariously chickenshit as a cell phone flop out style challenge, btw.

Texas +10, now that would take some brass ones.

Fat fingered “she” Dbeasy.  I do it all the time or my phone will select the word/name it thinks I want.

Hook’em!!!

He ran NFL coverages. He played coverage. He avoided the NFL DC mistake of going complex blitzes. I think the biggest thing is he also has a really smart player in Caleb Downs that communicates really well, so he can get funky on the back end. Sometimes you have to just tip your hat to the opposition.

The thread title should be changed to Matt Patricia is not welcome back to South Padre Island

I didn't play football and I won't pretend to know much about schemes...but Arch made him look better than perhaps he should have.  Throwing a football into the dirt when the WR is open and the QB has already identified him as open is not the skill of the DC.

Happy to be blasted and corrected here if that take lacks football knowledge.

Holding OSU to 203 total offensive yards will be the lowest total they achieve all year including the CFP. I'll make a bet with anyone that statement holds true.

There is plenty to bemoan about the offense and the D had 2 costly penalties, other than that Texas D was absolutely the highlight and brightest spot of the game.

As an OSU fan I thought the Texas punter was their MVP.  He repeatedly boomed ball and pinned Ohio State near their goal line. Of course he was assisted by good coverage, but most of his punts were simply not returnable.  Starting deep in their territory contributed greatly to Ohio State’s conservative play calls.

Every time the ball touched his foot, I got glossy eyed thinking what would have been with him on the team last year.

I’d have much rather he sat his Aussie ass on the bench all day(No offense, Mikey!).

But yeah, when he was call upon, he certainly delivered.

He sat his ass on the bench all second half…that’s how badly we shit the bed.
