Shitty Arkansas defense did it to Texas

At this point I expect almost every SEC team we face to run similar defensive gameplan.  Why wouldn't you?  Let Arch prove it.

Our d was awesome  Our punter is really good.  I don’t think Arch sucks.  This team is going 11-1 or 10-2, making the playoffs and we will be a favorite in every game we play. Fight me!

So the booze has worn off.  Rewatched the game.  Obviously it sucks we lost but I saw a lot of good things. 1.  Run game.  We couldn’t run the ball last year against good teams.  We ran it for 16

Man I don't understand why so many of you guys on this board are panicking. Yeah Arch had a bad game man, but so does every QB. It's crazy how similar his stats were compared to Colt McCoy first start against the buckeyes in 06. But everything will be fine going forward. Defense is phenomenal man, especially that freshman kid Littelton with how well he was guarding Jeremiah Smith. This next month Arch will settle down and get it together man. Hell, even Peyton Manning had horrible numbers his first start with Tennessee and he got it together and had a great career, won the SEC and had them set up to win it again and the natty after he went to the NFL. Arch will be fine man, nothing is fucked yet. Although I agree with whoever said we're in trouble if he continues to play like he did Saturday when we go to the swamp. And Sark, man call better plays inside the 10 yard line!

Most SEC teams have the talent to copy the "bend, but don't break", umbrella the receivers approach. Hell, I'd make Arch dink & dunk it down the field, too, bc he hasn't proven he has the patience (or touch and accuracy) to do it yet. Limit 20+ yard explosives, just like tOSU did.

Sark gotta be furious right now with this terrible 1st qtr

2/12 on third down concerns me.

Edited by 4th&Five

The offense isn't elite or even terribly good at anything.

Penalties.

FUCKING PENALTIES.

They have killed us under Sark and it has done nothing but get worse.

Tom Herman Football V2.0.  More hype, tons more talent, slightly better results.

Except in bowl games.  Herman was way better in bowl games.

Fixed that for you

PK is the lone bright spot. The rest... man it's painful

Penalties, 3rd down woes, and possibly losing a starting WR (Moore) in a thin position are my top 3 concerns after the SJSU game

Under Sark, post his first year - we have tended to play to the level of our competition.   We get up and play elite teams well/close and then play mediocre teams (Arkansas, Vandy, OU, Kentucky) mediocre.

It is what it is.

Arch's pocket presence is a big improvement.  He doesn't self sack and is good at moving around to buy time.  He'll get there, but it's going to take some time.

This team we have seen for two weeks can lose a lot more than 3 games

I would take that in a heartbeat.

Not if OU is one of them

Getting punched in the earhole probably not fun.

More concerned about the penalties. Average distance was 9.7 yards. That is more of a 1st and 2nd problem. Texas went 0-6 on 3rd and 9 or more.

Yeah. I’m concerned about all of it.

Very little, if anything, can be discerned from this game or the next 2. They were flat and sloppy against an inferior opponent. That's it.

Penalties are the biggest issue. That said, I am not concerned, have two more games to get things tightened up. It is clear to me that Arch needs to run to tame the ghosts he is seeing. Sark needs to get more bootlegs and roll outs in the game plan. He looked good on the slants today.

That's not our standard. No excuses for it, and Sark is responsible.

We won two playoff games last year.

I'm amazed that some of you are able to wash your ass without slipping and killing yourself in the shower.

This feel like an early 2000s Greg Davis offense. Like with Chris Simms at QB, Ivan Richardson and Victor Ike at RB. A few talented but raw WRs. Talented TEs. Average OL.

Of course we're talented enough to have good stretches against shitty teams, but it feels like it's not going to work against the better defenses.

But also, it might.

Playcalling in the red zone and penalties are my concerns. My attitude is like this tweet below. We will be fine. But we will need dudes to make the plays in the playoffs. Hang on to the ball. Scrap for first downs and for goodness sake clean up penalties. We might need heroics with the stale red zone play calling. I really wish Sark would get up in the fucking booth. But I’m relatively chill. We gonna be fine. Just need dudes to step up and make those catches or plays in the playoffs. and sark to be in the booth if he stubbornly refuses to give up the play calling. It’s been proven over 5 QBs that he’s the main problem outside of penalties and dudes not making the plays in the RZ.

This isn't true at all. We have beat OU by 30+ points twice the past three years. Last year we beat every G5 team by 50 points. We went on the road and punked Michigan. We kicked the dogshit out of Florida. We beat Mississippi State by 3 touchdowns. In '23 we kicked the absolute piss out of Tech and Okie Lite in b2b weeks.

There isn't a program in the country that wins by 40 every week. tOSU lost 2 games last season in the regular season. Georgia almost lost to Georgia Tech. Notre Dame lost to fucking NIU.

Just too many inconsistencies. The OL and penalties have me most concerned. Texas was 73rd in penalties last year also

Time will tell.

RS soph in his 4th start.

plenty of room to grow, but plenty of time to do so.

It's practice. For all of those teams.

It's game 2. They have a lot to clean up, like everyone else in the country. Hopefully they will by UF.
