I remember going to Smokey Mountain National Park for vacation in early September 2003. On my way to Sevierville I remember some college radio station in Louisville, Kentucky playing Boom Boom Mancini and talking about how Zevon had died a week or two earlier. On my way back I was bombarded with Johnny Cash songs on every radio station I could find because he had died the day before.
